Fish Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 So a colleague and myself will be taking a little trip down to Estoril for the WSBK round in October. Getting the boat from Portsmouth to Santander, then ride down over 4 days, watch the racing then 5 days coming back. Interested to know of any possible routes worth taking. Just need to decide if I want to get panniers for the XSR900 or just take the already kitted Tracer 700. 3 Quote

husoi Posted August 4, 2024 Posted August 4, 2024 Peneda Gerez at the Spain/Portugal border is a beautiful place. Of.you have the time and spend at least 1 day in Porto you won't regret it. Play attention at the tolls in Portugal. All motorways are paid for even if faster you will be talking a small fortune Fuel in Spain at the border because petrol is much cheaper in Spain. Be VERY careful with speeding. Cameras are hidden and you won't notice them in time. 3 Quote
Ian Frog Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 +1 for day spent in Porto! In general the roads in Portugal are beautiful compared to the third world crap we put up with and as a bonus the food is excellent and the people are friendly. Almost everyone speaks better English than us but without exception they appreciate it if you try to communicate in their language first. Personally I love the place and am planning on going back next year. Cheers Ian 3 Quote

The waitress said to us 'do you want to learn to speak Portugese or eat?' We ordered and ate well there. For the bike l'd go Tracer if it's already kitted out, stay off the motorways stick to the speed limits and enjoy! 5 Quote
