I can offer no advice, however; he's probably having a bad day. Well he's probably stuck in traffic 🤣

I have filtered past traffic bobbies on this section of motorway whilst joining the M60, not been an issue yet, they even moved over and made room so I stay within the solid lines. Come 5pm the traffic is moving very slowly, bumper to bumper for approx 15 miles, nightmare commute 😆

I don't know a place in the highway code where it says you can't overtake another vehicle in a single lane.

The biker did the right thing, though, and followed the copper's instructions, even though the copper was being a nob and making the law up as he was talking.

I think that's the relevant point.  Yes the copper is being a dick in that instant but ignoring him could open a whole can of worms.  I wouldn't like it either, but would do as directed, isn't worth my time or effort to rail against it.  For me it would be  moment in my day that's best forgotten and time to move on.

When I had first seen the video some time ago. I wasn't sure if I would filter. It's hard to judge with the camera, how much room there really is.

But I would have certainty filtered up to the lorry.

Thanks all for your opinions. The video has been posted by Davtav and us very useful as it gives the opinion of a solicitor.

My view is the policeman was just having a bad day but sadly you have no right to challenge his opi ion according to the solicitor. Useful to know for the future

I agree. I watched the video again. And I would have filtered up to the lorry. If the lorry had then pulled over to the left a bit I would have gone past. I wouldn’t have gone into the coned off area. Especially with a police car following!

For me it's yet another story of a policeman being a power crazed nob, he could have easily let the bike by. Yet again stereotyping police people as dicks when confidence in them is at an all time low.

I always thought that just like politicians the sort of person who wants that power is exactly the sort of person who shouldn't have it.

Nobody died did they? If I watched that video, my first thought wouldn't be to register on a motorcycle forum and for my first post ask for people's opinions about it. I'd probably get on with my day and forget about it.

True but I have to admit I would really like to know a definitive answer of if the biker was doing anything wrong or not. I would probably have done the same as a bike in a queue is very vulnerable. If I filter to the front it keeps me safer and reduces the queue by one so surely a win win?
