Me neither, it looked clear until the light hit it at a certain angle, then I could see it was grubby between the Pinlock and the visor. Also, the Pinlock was starting to bubble.

I reckon, even though it's brand new, it must be old stock.

It was fitted by Nolan.

As a side note, Nolan have just changed to different distribution in the UK.

So a grubby shop worker or prior wearer fitted it.
Sounds more like you got given a “open box, display or a demo lid” especially if it had it fitted.

Bubble? did you forget to take the protective film off?😅
Only other time it will bubble or water separation happens is when the outer pinlock is soaked/absorbed lots of water and is drying out. That’s its brilliant properties of how it works.

The mechanism on my old Nolan has started being a bit glitchy. The perfect excuse to get a new one at 1/3 the original price while I take the old one to bits.

Amazing how much snugger and nicer it feels after 3 1/2 years and 35,000 miles in the old one.

For reference, the new one is on the left. For best results, remove the stickers before riding 😜IMG_20250307_102002.thumb.jpg.fd3335f759abbb6591b5a0c7d93fcb0d.jpg

I thought exactly as you did, but nope, it was fitted by Nolan. (confirmed by the vendor).

I also though maybe previously worn, but everything was "factory looking" and just how it should be when I removed it from the box.

Used it for three hours yesterday, perfect vision without the Pinlock. I reckon it was just too old, must have been fitted for some time.

I have Pinlocks in the Schuberth and Shark, and they work great, not so good in the Scorpion lid, but I thinks that's down to me, I need to refit it, or try it without now the weather is becoming milder. Off for a trundle in Wales on Sunday.

My helmet had Pinlock fitted when I bought it so I don’t know the difference of riding without it. I wear glasses and they mist up when stopped at lights etc, never the visor. So I open the visor to clear the glasses then close it to set off again. Not a big inconvenience.

I wondered about riding at night with it fitted but it seemed fine last night.

Both my helmets are fitted with Pinlocks. I ride all year round and wear glasses. I've never had a problem with them though at night on unlit rural roads I often find myself raising the visor if a car comes the other way with very bright headlights.

I regularly remove them, clean the visor and Pinlock and refit. Otherwise they do tend to get a bit dull.

I used to have a product called Bob heaths' anti fog, it worked on visors as well as glasses

So did I - until I stopped paying for it and used washing up liquid on a tissue

You just know there’s a sticker on there somewhere saying just that 😄

I actually missed my Pinlock last night, a chilly hour long ride, and had to keep popping the visor up a notch.

Nope.  The sun has to be shining at least 14 days before, and forecast to be shining at least 14 days after I venture out.  Have no need for pinlocks.  They remain at the bottom of the hemet box.

I'm currently on my second pinlock in my Shoei Neotec helmet.  I'm pretty disappointed with them in fairness, I do ride through the winter months and have found that both visors still have a tendency to mist up.  I've fiddled about adjusting the pinlock and have now just lost the will.  Not sure if I'll bother when I need a new visor, I may just go back to using anti-mist spray which seemed to do a relatively ok job, just needed re-applying frequently.

I found that, too, with my Neotec so I removed it. Then last year we had a day of truly horrendous wet weather heading across from near Santander to the start of the  Pyrenees Route Des Cols (recommended route). I swapped visors with my pillion, who also has a Neotec, with pinlock fitted. It worked fine - I could actually see where I was riding. 🙈

I await my first wet day’s riding with my new lid to see how it goes (I’ve retained the visor off my previous Neotec as back up).

Never had or seen one. My last 2 Shark helmets come with a useless visor coating that does nothing to stop the visor steaming up so Shark say they aren't needed 👍

I open the visor 10mm sometimes when I stop
