  1. Riding it hard doesn't mean it will warm up properly! You have to give the oil time to warm up and to dissipate the moisture
  2. defo just condensation then take it for a good ride a 10 min ride isnt enough to warm it up properly
  3. the creamy residue is water mixed with the oil are you only doing short trips on the bike? if so it will be just condensation in the oil as its not heating up fully and the condensation is not burning off check for coolant loss too worst case it could be head gasket but its probably just the cold weather
  4. excellent well done forget the minors a pass is a pass
  5. forget the flasher units they rarely fit properly and are usually poor quality and are made for LED lights front and rear so may not flash at the correct rate if the fronts arent LED hein gericke sell the right resistors at £2 each i have the same type of light unit on my bike and the resistors work spot on
  6. its a zx6r bex so its the right tyre
  7. it wont fail on not stating on the button peds are known for not starting on the button in the cold hence the kick start does it work ok on the starter once been on a run ?
  8. No matter how much you talk about it, it still spells heavy old and boring i would rather have a shaft though im sure the chain runs pretty close on the zx6
  9. its ok if you can get all the parts cheap enough and do all the work yourself it cost me £1800 to repair one of my bikes but that was with a £1000 spray job that was also with only fairing damage exhaust clocks footpegs a clipon!! would have been a lot more if it was frame and forks bent too also it depends on availability of parts if they are cheap and easy to source jobs a good un then theres the flip side you could have no accidents or theft in 25 years all depends how much your willing to risk i only go FC now as its been a coule of quid in it
  10. im FC and always have been since day one! The way i look at it is if you wrote your bike off you can still recoop some cash back for repairs or replace whats the point having a 4k bike go down the road hit some diesel total the bike ie bend forks frame crack engine and have a bike that is worth nothing and beyond repair!!! Ring around for insurance haggle with them you will get it cheaper
  11. well i can confirm that a thundercat caliper does fit but i cant tell you which model years!! Im pretty sure the thundercat caliper is the same across all years though
  12. what caliper? front rear ? ps i dont know the answer to the question
  13. if its just glow plugs he isnt trying hard enough theres other ways to heat them up though i just said its best to start it up well its the easiest way anyway if the car starts
  14. sounds like glow plugs to me now you have them get em changed and see how it goes be carefull though as they can break easily and its head removal to get them out its best starting the engine to warm it up before removal

    Frozen lock

when you get a spare few mins squirt WD40 down to displace any water then take a tub of grease and push some in to the barrel use a spare key to work it in to the lock it will stop it freezing as bad but not completely

    cleaning carbs

a dishwasher is better and easier aswell
  17. hmmm actually forget that for now are you sure its gas recirculation ?? you shouldnt have oil in it it should be soot! oil comes out the crank case breather not the exhaust
  18. have a good look at the gas recirculation system and see if you can blank it off problem solved and you will have a better running bike

    cleaning carbs

carb cleaner remove carb stip as much as you like and pray with carb cleaner
  20. i suspect fuel seen it before on a scoot the fuel tap works on a vacuum like most bikes and when the bike is running it opens the fuel tap sometimes the pipe can split so you get no vacuum or very little usually just enough to tick the bike over and fill the carb but when running at speed it will run the carb dry as it cant be filled up fast enough or the valve in the fuel tap can get stuck especially after been sat for a bit

    spark plug socket

probably a 10mm plug that requires a 10mm socket at the cost of about 6-7 quid
  22. bloody hell lets not get too technical!!! lets keep it on the topic ie what acronyms are usefull to others
  23. it could also be a bit of carb icing with it been so cold its a tad warmer then it was last week!

    Chain noise

so if you can hear a whining all the time since you adjusted the chain its too tight its the output bearing on the gearbox you did check tension after you tightened the rear axle nut didnt you ? suzuki's are known for the chain going tighter when the axle is tightend up due to flex in the swingarm also add a little weight to the bike when checking too ie someone sat on it

    Chain noise

100nm is tight enough!! are you getting any noise while riding normally ? like a whining noise? which increases with speed?
