  1. Good morning bikers
  2. Darn, you've reminded me, I'd better check my solar panels. They're only bolted to a tin roof. They're pretty much facing the current gale.
  3. I was supposed to be driving a horse and trailer for 90 minutes to Ipswich today. Thankfully, my daughter suggested we didn't go. I didn't want to be the mean Dad that cancelled the trip. Sadly, it was her first competition in over a year. Already had one tree go over on the edge of the farm, and the storm hasn't really hit us yet.

  5. Jeeeeeeeeeez, sod that.
  6. I drive a brilliant Korean pickup truck, and also have a Korean tractor. Both 8 years old and ultra reliable. Sometimes we help ourselves by looking over to the other side of the fence.
  7. Happy birthday @manxie49 make sure you overdo it
  8. The roads are starting to become "cleaner" now. There's less mud from farming, and the leaves are clearing to the sides. Bear in mind that a properly wet road is better than a damp greasy one. All the same, your tyres are perfectly capable of keeping traction on wet roads. As previously mentioned, give yourself time to reduce any sudden braking etc. Look well ahead and assume that every vehicle at a junction could pull out in front. Choose a good road position, don't hug the curb, keep out in the road and be as visible as possible. Perhaps buy a hi-viz over jacket for wet weather. I used to commute in to London, even when snowing. Good luck.

  10. Strewth @Tinkicker glad you're OK.

  12. I missed it, but I reckon we'll soon be seeing the Chinese machines on the roads more frequently. I find the Voges 900 ADV quite interesting, and immensely good value.
  13. 50cc has to be the most dangerous sized engine, it's just too underpowered to keep up in city and urban traffic, let alone out of town. I often see small bike/mopeds/scooters pootling along at 30Mph, huddling the curb-line to keep out of the way, this leaves the rider open to danger from impatient drivers who pass very closely. If anything, I personally feel that 125cc should be the minimum, with of course a mandatory CBT in place. The motorcycling demographic is older, but there are still lots of 125 riders on the roads, the problem from there forward is the immense cost of gaining a full license, this is what inhibits the 125 riders progression. Perhaps @G robbo you should contact MAG (the Motorcycle Action Group).
  14. So the trick with anything like this, especially when included/built in, is to expect absolutely nothing from it. Then anything more than nothing is a positive.
  15. I miss those days.... Was always a major cause of embarrassment though.
  16. Difficult to judge without seeing it but..... I reckon that your split second and subconscious decision making probably knew you made the right choice.
  17. Good morning bikers
  18. Good luck with the test @Fiddlesticks
  19. I love port. I'm on the sherry some evenings, poor man's port
  20. Meh indeed, who needs exhausts though.....
  21. Welcome to the forum @Gsxrman1100 That's a nice collection of bikes, are they current, or past ownership. Obviously the Nighthawk is current. Love the look of that XS 850, when I was a teenager, my friends uncle kept one (XS250) in the garage of my friends house, used to have a sneaky sit astride it now and again.
  22. Good work @Grumpy Old Git
