  1. My best friend and biking buddy died recently from Cancer. A few weeks before he died we had a conversation about the after life and he promised that if he could he would contact me from the 'other side' He died last month and so far not heard a thing. So much for ghosts.
  2. A recent idiot while selling my mates BMW. He bid and won the item only to send me an e-mail the next day telling me it was an accident as his son had got hold of his phone and bid on it! Total bullsh*t. I reported him but had to re list it at my own cost again.
  3. OK I will take the bait. When I was a young slip of a lad playing with Action men (Go on take the p*ss) One evening I made a coffin out of cardboard for one. (I am not sick really just seemed a good idea at the time) I had just finished it and placed Action man in it when there was a hammering on the door and in burst my Grandmother in tears relating that her son, my uncle had just collapsed and died in the kitchen! Spooky or what!? I never made any more coffins for any dolls after that.
  4. I was faced with the same problem when I had my wheels powder coated. My solution was to use a pair of ladders similar to those in Joemans picture and sling a ratchet strap around the head stock to lift it off the floor. It worked a treat.
  5. After a recent visit to London I could not believe the price of homes there! Single bedroom apartments starting at £326,000! how on earth can anyone afford that? I paid £28,000 for my three bedroom terraced home up here, all would get for that in London is a dog kennel!
  6. It could only happen in the USA! Luckily he was a fat t*at so it didn't do much damage.
  7. Well Tango I wonder if like me the policemen of today have been looking much younger for some time now! Only the other week at a bike night I saw a young police woman and commented to my friend it looks like she is still at school! It certainly creeps up on you this old age thing.
  8. Battle of the V1 was another film he was in.
  9. I am a 20 a day man and thought I would try a vape stick to replace or cut down my smoking. Guy who sold me it asked me my habit and what brand I smoked and gave me the oil closest to my cigarette habit. He did warn me I would cough a lot to start with but to persevere with it and it would stop. I did give it a good try for over a month but still coughed my lungs up and wanted a real ciggie afterwards! I gave up in the end and went back to smoking 20 a day.
  10. Coming home from work today I hung back from a Honda SUV as it was slowly weaving on a dual carriageway from one side of the lane to the other. I thought the driver might have been on his phone at the time. As a Transit van started to come past him in the outer lane he suddenly wondered out over the line and into his path! Transit driver was alert and managed to swerve over enough to miss him! What a tosser.

    New Top Gear

Why don't they just have Matt, Sabine, and the Stig? just get rid of the rest of them that would make it more interesting. Glad Ging has gone though he was a bad choice for sure.

    Weather

Typical British summer just means the puddles dry up quicker.
  13. i just hope he didn't tell them you wear leather too!.
  14. I changed the bearings today and then went out for a ride. The noise has gone I am happy to say. I would never have believed it was the bearing from the noise it was making as it was more like a heavy aluminium knock/rattle, I was almost convinced it was something in the gearbox. just goes to show you can't rule anything out with noises.
  15. Almost fell off my chair reading that one.
  16. LOL A Mustang! thought they might have got something that actually handles well.
  17. Have to admit I had two good instructors on my lessons who were very encouraging. On the other hand my son while learning to drive had a terrible instructor who used to shout at him, so after 21 lessons we changed to a one man band who had got my wife through (How the hell he did that i have no idea) and he put him straight in for his test....he passed first time. A good instructor is the key to a pass.
  18. Well it looks like I may have found the cause of the noise. Front wheel bearings! these have recently been replaced by me when I had the wheels powder coated. I have fitted a few bearings in the past so don't think it is my fitting of them. One side is really notchy and makes a clicking clonking noise when the wheels is spun. Have to admit they were cheap ones from the internet and it looks like they are made of cheese. I have ordered a new set from Wemoto at twice the price so should be good quality this time. Going to fit them on my next day off so will keep you posted what happens.

    Noise issue

I have an old 98 Hornet and all I do is full choke flick the switch and it starts and idles 30 seconds later after helmet and gloves I drop the choke off and ride. no need for revving the engine at all.
  20. Well according to the manual it states to put the bike on the side stand. There is no mention of having weight on the bike and there is no centre stand so I just followed the instructions from the manual giving the chain about 1" of slack in the centre of it's run.
  21. I have a 1998 Hornet 600 with 18000 on the clock in pretty good nick. I recently changed the brake pads all round and had the wheels powder coated and a new set of tyres on. I have just noticed recently a knocking/rattle coming from it when I am riding slowly or on the over run around 20-30 MPH. I can't actually tell where it is coming from other than below the tank area. The bike runs fine and starts first time with no problems so far. It has had an oil and filter change and although the oil was black it was clear of any debris. The rattle/knock does not appear in neutral only when the bike is moving and is still there when the clutch is pulled in which makes me think it is something on the transmission. All wheel bearings are new and fitted correctly and the chain is adjusted as per the manual and the wheel seems to be in line according to the notches on the swing arm. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing it?

Yep got to agree with everyone else, it was tosh. I thought I would give it a look for Sabine Scmitt but turned over too late to see her. Had to admit Matt le Blanc was great and i could watch it with him as one of the presenters but as for Chris Evans, no way, I hated him on the radio and am not impressed with him presenting this. Might watch one or two more so long as Sabine is in it.
  23. It took me three attempts to pass MOD 1 all due to that avoidance manoeuvre. I got it in my head that I was going pretty fast but wasn't and failed on being too slow through the speed sensor, when I got the speed right I kicked the cone! I also had a failed attempt (3rd) due to getting to the test centre to find the examiners were on strike! I knew it was just nerves holding me back but was determined to nail it even joking with the examiner about getting an invite to the Christmas party. Finally everything came together on my third attempt (Well fourth if you count the strike). In the end I took a few minutes before each part to take a few deep breaths and calm myself, (even talking to myself to get it right) I was glad when I passed my MOD 2 first time with only a couple of minors. All I am saying Troy is take your time and stick with it you will get there........and it is such a great feeling when you do.
  24. The first one had me in stitches. She was also the speaking clock....at the third stroke it will be £50 exactly.
  25. I was caught out a couple of years ago by a bike copper hidden behind some bushes with a hand held scamera. He was just poking out of the bush with the camera no more than 5 yards from national speed limit signs! of course he caught me doing 37 in a 30! Damn!
