  1. Well in the past I have been into plastic model making, cars, aeroplanes, boats, then into building wooden boats, R/C boats, subs. then on to R/C aeroplanes, scale and aerobatic, Then R/C helicopters electric and fuel. (still got two of them) Then into full bore pistol and rifle shooting. (had a few guns in the past) always wanted a Broomhandle mauser but never did. Then archery, field shooting with longbow and target with a recurve. (Strangely I am right handed but shoot a bow left handed?? go figure. Then got into Scuba diving and spent many years underwater gaining Dive supervisor certificate and club instructor not to mention underwater photography and boat handling instructor. A back injury made me give that up. Then into wood work and furniture making which turned into my employment so got into motorbikes after a long lay off of 30 odd years. Loving the bikes and just have one more thing on my bucket list which I intend to do this year and that is have a flight in a Tiger Moth. I am sure I will find some more before I pop my clogs though.
  2. Bah youngsters! I am 60 and still act like a teenager, well when bits don't ache. It is true though that inside of every old man there is a young man trying to get out! I did take my pension for what it was worth and still ended up working harder for my money.
  3. Just finished watching it. Brilliant, padded out a bit but certainly worth the watch. You can always rely on Guy to be entertaining and it made a nice change to have something watchable on the TV. I am sick of talent shows and baking programs. A couple of hours about motorbiking can't be bad and to top it all he established a new world record.......again. Well done that man.
  4. When I read the title of this post I thought Triumph Thunderbird, Have to admit though it did bring back memories, Fireball XL5, Supercar, Thinderbirds, oh and Stingray, them were the days.
  5. Surely that was the fault of the Mini not noticing he was pulling out then?
  6. First time I took a passenger it was my son. I weigh 8 stone and my son weighs 12 stone and is also a little taller than me. i gave him the instructions on how to behave on the back and we rode around 100 miles with him. I found it different due to braking being slower with the extra weight and just made sure I was more gentle on the controls like acceleration and stopping. Both feet down when stopped and it was fine......he loved it too.
  7. Wait until next month then all the Christmas loonies will be out and about! Think I will stay at home for December.

  14. Many moons ago when I was a young tearaway I was stopped by a policeman riding my bike on the pavement. He gave me a belt around the ear telling me to get off it. Then went on to ask me 'Wasn't that better than a visit to court' Got to agree it did sting a bit but was much better. There was also much more respect for the law back then.
  15. Mine is a 98 hornet and I use full choke to start without any throttle, after about 40 to 60 seconds I take the choke off and ride, works every time for me.
  16. I had to admire the ages of the guys involved in it! That is some achievement for a 75 year old to abseil down a lift shaft loaded with gear! just hope I am that fit at his age. Got to admit though it does seem strange to go to all that trouble with such a well executed plan only to have it let down by not thinking it through to the end? More to it than meets the eye for sure.
  17. Nah, looks like the only option is to take out a hit on her, no worries then for young un.
  18. so just why is he riding a 125 if he has passed his test? or is he lying to you.
  19. When he says it next just reply with "yes but I can ride mine properly" then watch his face.
  20. Ah, the Saint. It wasn't Roger Moore was it. Yes got to admit they are beautiful cars and it is such a pity they don't make em like that any more.
  21. Mine is a character in a book I wrote. had to add the '66' as someone also uses mailee on other sites.
  22. Yep two today. First guy coming the opposite way flashed his headlights to warn us of a scamera van on the way to Willey woods and the second a Range Rover that pulled over to let us past on the way to Mablethorpe.

  24. In Saudi they cut off hands of thieves so I think we should cut the ear off people caught using the phone in the car.....they would only do it twice.
