I've recently bought a ER6F which had a very ugly stock exhaust, so i've bought a beowulf silencer, and installed it straight away at a highly recommended garage, now i only did 10mile's on the stock exhaust so i'm not sure if it's normal, but now and again and not very often, i believe i can hear the silencer backfiring? is this a massive problem? long term effect's? noticed on a google search quite a few people have this problem with beowulf but haven't had any engine issues.
  2. C O N G R A T S !!! What an awful thing for the examiner to say afterwards. Maybe he was annoyed because he wanted to fail you but didn't have enough reason to do so. hehe All that matters is that you got the Pass! Well done. Cheers, you don't learn until you ride though!
  3. Well done on your pass. Your examiner sounds as though he is a bit lacking in social skills! However I think he was probably trying to say that passing doesn't mean you don't need to continue to improve and become more proficient and learn how to be safe. As a very new biker myself I know that I feel much more of a beginner on my motorbike than I did when I passed my car test many years ago. Its clear to me that I need to gain experience but I will also do some advanced training to learn how to protect myself and be as safe as possible. Don't let it worry you , you have met the required standard and now you can start to really learn how to ride, and have some fun. Yes, i guess you're right, i diden't write a whole story because how he put it really put me on a downer, and my instructor was not too inpressed, i had no lessons on a big bike, but have ridden a 125 for a year, i basically misjudged the corner because of the weight of the bigger bike, well that's what i personally put it down to, i've gone around that very tight bend again on the new bike and got it good now. It's alright him saying that, but you don't really start learning till you're on your new bike, 125 to a 650 is different for me, as i'm pretty slim and the weight difference caught me off guard

Passed today, 4 minors, thought i did well personally, but once the exaiminer at halifax started telling me if i continue to ride like i was i'll be dead, diden't understand where he was coming from as i only messed up on a tight bend by misjudgment of the bike, although i kept it in my lane.... if i was that bad and will be dead, how the hell did i pass, was pretty unset after that, but picked the bike up and cheered up living my last days before i die apparently...

  7. As my 125 is poorly from a accident, i'm waiting to do my mod 2 which is this friday, have a bike ready, so might be able to get around with a few other members, will let you know on forums friday, and will ask richie if he's about Saturday and john too.
  8. Tell him to grow the "£%£ up, that's horrible of him to say, but i guess he's just jealous? or one of these that get road rage at bikers for no reason. This seem's to be a common problem, older people complain when "young" un's should treat people with respect, yet even when there at fault they treat you with none!
  9. Thank you for the detailed response Mr Fro, i guess you're right about the more chains might make me sleep easier, if i have them guess there is no point in not using them. Does anyone know what grips the ER6F need's then? it's a sports tourer if i recall. Thinking of getting a treat aswell, a beowulf silencer, the main shop is very local which i didn't know apparently they have 2nd's which have small scratches but they cannot sell them for full price or online, and there 50% off! will check on Friday if they have one for the ER6 fingers crossed. The bobbin's i'll have to try find some decent ones then, the bike has been dropped as the owner before didn't put the stand down, so there are some scratches, but nothing major, but as long as the bobbins do there job the look's don't matter too much.

Hello guy's the other day i foolishly bought a 2006 ER6F before passing my test which is the coming Friday, but now that i have a bike i'm looking at a few options, to keep the bike safe mainly. In my front garden I've put pavement slabs down to support the bike to keep it off the road admittedly it's not pretty but it does the job and can be removed when needed. now ground anchor's I've just bought 2 from fleebay, one is a cheap one, and the other is OXFORD GP 1.5M CHAIN LOCK HEAVY DUTY anchor these have yet to arrive as I've only ordered them today, how deep into the ground should these go? and i'll have to concrete 2 area's to place them correct? if so how deep and how wide would be best to keep them secure and make sure no-one can dig them up without making a noise or alarming the dogs in the living room at night. (live on a shitty estate) Also i've bought a new XL bike cover which i will place over at night and wrap another chain around. which will leave me with 1 or 2 more spare chains, would it be worth connecting the wheel to the frame on each wheel for the spare chains? or would that be a waste of time? if it's a waste of time i'll connect the wheels to my brothers scooter once he get's it to keep his baby safe. Camera, i'm looking towards getting a helmet camera but i am on a really right budget for these, I've seen a few threads including the massive 17 page one but i am still unsure if it's worth it and the hassle that people are having with them, i want some-thing that will last quite a while battery life, and very simple and easy to setup. I've looked on fleebay but most are from china which worried me. Oxford heated grips, Now I've been looking at heated grips for the coming winter and these will be purchased when there on sale or when winter is close, how easy are they to install? are they really worth it for the commute? what's the difference between the sports/cruiser etc ones? i'm worried i'll get the wrong ones. FrameSliders/Bungs, now these are £70 on ebay and can't find anywhere cheaper, is there a alternative place to buy these? and again how hard are they to install?
  12. What model was it? Twas a CBR 125 2005 When did you buy it and how much did it cost? Bought it 27/04/2013 my birthday cost me a bomb! 1.7k Good points? The Cbr is pretty low, so for a short rider it's brilliant, it's somewhat slim so filtering is a piece of cake, even when people try to stop you filtering you can get past with ease, the bike it self look's great, yes it look's sporty but not too sporty for a 125 compared to the YZF or 2011+ models of the cbr which are sheep in wolves clothing. pulling of the line after filtering is very fast for a 125 and even if you're in the middle of two cars at the front you can safely get away. Dual carriageways are a doddle compared to other bikes, can maintain a steady 70MPH without too much struggle for a period of 50 Miles+. Came of at 70 on gravel and there was just slight cosmetic damage and no structure damage to the bike Bad points? I think i got ripped of with the condition of mine personally, the rec was damaged and diden't realize till i changed battery's 3 times but was a simple fix. manual choke can be a pain in the ass! insurance for new young rider's is pretty scary, because of the lightweight it can be a fight in high winds.   13. Completed mod 1 last week. You can use back break and to be honest it's pretty hard not to, not sure how you can do slow manonver if you're not using the back break, the salmon and fig 8 isn't too bad, it didn't matter if it was a perfect fig 8 to be honest mine was horrible, but as long as you keep it upright and don't put your foot down then it's perfectly fine,
  14. Idle is set perfecto, over idle ticker settings won't let it idle, not sure how to change fuel ratio? And east, damn it, they must of stole and kept it Yet they had the nerve to tell me to refuel there bike full as it came -.-

Hello guys, got the CBR back today from insurance, got a problem not sure how to solve, the bike won't start even with choke unless i give it some revs, this includes letting the bike idle after reving to start the engine, this only happens when the engine is cold and hasn't been running for a couple hours. (p.s i didn't know insurance drained all your full while in storage ffs!)

Today, went to the test center got my mind focused on the slalom, which i did rather slow and tight but managed that and the fig 8. Slow ride i did perfect at roughly 6kpm, the uturn did slow and steady and did fine, same with everything really, one minor was one shoulder check which i knew i did not do after i started the manever So happy i did it with ease!   22. A2 only 22, and only did cbt last year. Yes they still do it at the football staduim. Only problems i had was the pushing bike but it's on a slight dip between the bays, and i was exhausted. wakefield is where i am going, when is your mod 1? tommorow at 12:50?! if so you're with me! as that person is doing there full license! They still have the old bird ER5, 5.3k miles 51 plate....... Opted to use the ER5 over the GLAD, the ER5 has a drum break which i don't like, but it's harder to lock the rear wheel up!
