  1. I thought this was the case but I don't like to be the chap who tells a copper "You got this bit wrong"! I'll be taking your number so if this ever occurs I know who to call mwaha!
  2. Lorries were being impatient and a bit weird. You see them determined to overtake rather than undertake. Undertaking isn't against the law and you'd expect them to know that with it being their job! Beneath the speed limit I was led to believe by a copper that it's regarded as your lane making better progress. Pair of planks. Although I see why the trucker was upset to begin with as it's a stressful job and then you come across a guy as arrogant as that. Dash cam footage can be used to prosecute these days, and I hope the gent selling them is undone by his own product catching him lane hogging in future. He claims he was about to move to lane 1 to leave the motorway. He's tried to be clever with his wording there, but his actions in the video, along with that statement suggest he doesn't know the correct use of the lane. It's not there for you to be in when you want to leave the motorway after all, it's for normal traffic with nothing to overtake.
  3. I went to ask the necessity of a gun in Cambridge, then remembered there's a cat flinging, gun toting, delusional maniac in your area. Next time you visit, get something with range, with any luck you can pick him off when he stops to break down or crash.
  4. Bingo. I'm also dubious of anyone who would wants to keep a gun other than a toy. Did you know on black Friday 2 guns were sold every second based on the number of back ground checks? Apparently thanks giving is a time to thank the lord, eat turkey, and lock n load.
  5. I don't think the terrorists could cope with the Scots when they're angry to be fair
  6. The real danger are the young ones apparently. The old ones have a sense of code, whereas the young ones are looking to get themselves known and build a reputation as they see it as earning respect. This means the acts they commit are getting more extreme as they look to supersede their elders. As a result gangs are sub-dividing into more violent gangs. Guns won't solve that but a clockwork orange style mind adjustment wouldn't go amiss for some of them.
  7. My cock was in the Guinness world record book once.. It was good until the librarian caught me and kicked me out.
  8. Would you fine Fozzie for giving one of your coppers some lip? I'm more worried about being shot now

Well I'm glad someone knows their beans. I'm going to have to get more in depth knowledge on micro-controllers and processors first I think. Maybe do some dummy projects. If you know any good places to source micro-controllers from feel free to stick them up, otherwise I default to things like Arduino and Raspberry pi based things, which maybe overcomplicated for the desired task.
  10. Well f**k me sideways... A political thread on TMBF where everyone seems to agree
  11. y u do dis? We need a NOTY (year) award... Each year we put forward a story of a nob, and the winner gets some kind of award. I'll be putting petrolhead forward, as I feel I can win just mentioning his name
  12. The people that attack are lunatics. The paris mob were on drugs as it helped focus them and take away the fear of dying, which was a certainty. Arm the police and you don't save people. Accidents will happen and kill more over a length of time than the terrorists can currently manage in their sprees. Good armed response yes. Guns on the street no. You bring guns, they will bring bombs, and then we will start shooting people who look like they have bombs, then you'll kill someone innocent. And so it escalates.
  13. If I got told "you really should have a clear visor" I'd have apologised and said I had it up to see fine, like I would with a fogged up visor. Instead I got a sarcastic Jimmy Saville style "now then now then now then". A bit of piss taking I wouldn't blink an eye, but he started off on a bad note and then got more condescending as I was young. He was being provocative I think and it worked. It wouldn't now, I'd at most chip in a little comment like "I appreciate your unbiased view officer". As then he has a choice, laugh it off, or have a go at me and I'll apologise and be polite but say that I have my view much like he has his... I'm going to get fined again aren't I?

Could that handle a project like taking control of a bikes ignition system? Part of my plan includes making a TPS, and cross reference with the crank rpms and then modifying the spark output accordingly. This along with controlling security and other auxillaries on the bike. That can certainly manage the door security though.
  15. We needed a quick armed response unit, but not out on the streets. Maybe guns with rubber bullets at most but eventually someone will hit the ground badly, or be hit in a way serious harm or worse is inflicted and we will have endless debates on their need. If terrorists strike, they hit areas where response is slow enough they have time to deal carnage. Arming police doesn't help. A terrorist group will just take positions, walk up behind them, and shoot them first basically. This is Americas gun laws biggest fault. They think they are defenceless without guns, but with them, the crook knows to just sneak up behind you.
  16. Fair play to you chaps. It's a job that would turn me bitter as you are exposed to the worst in society at times. I have been pulled over a fair few times, back on the old 50 a number of them mistook it for a 125 and it was a trick a lot of 16 year olds got away with anyway. The only time I got smart was when one pulled me over for a tinted visor (it was flipped up as I was riding home) and he put it down and asked how I could see. I flipped it up and sarcastically said "night vision" and earned myself a £30 fine... Deserved but he was being petty from my viewpoint. I don't like the met police, seen my fair share of them being a bit brash. I get they see more crap than others being in London but it has tarnished their outlook a bit. I've even heard of other police forces acting like Christmas came early when they catch one out doing something wrong.
  17. Just dropping everything a second to say... WHAT!? You were a rozzer? How has this only come to light now? Or have I missed this the whole time. You let the nice ones go!?! They could have been nice so you let them go. They'd be calling you a sucker around the corner Especially those old dears that "accidentally" put it on... Crafty buggers!

Thank you sir! I love little home projects like this. I imagine it's how many awesome inventions came to be, people just mucking about and stumbling onto something cool for everyone. One project I'm still deciding whether to do is replace the old CDI on a 80s bike (like a CB250) and use a raspberry pi to control the bikes spark. I've made one before using off the shelf electronic components and circuit diagrams but want to take it to the next level. My hope being, that I can make it adaptable to most old bikes where a spare CDI just isn't available anymore. Would breathe some life into old kit.
  19. This one just emerged at work... "I like my women how I like my advent calendar. Against my wall, flaps open, ready to be eaten" Annnd... "Miss! Miss! Miss!" I shouted excitedly from the back of the classroom. This was turning into the worst school shooting ever.
  20. Anyone who thinks it's smart to leave your front and rear lights off and just use front fog lights deserves COTD not NOTD. In fact anyone using front fog lights at all in anything other than poor visibility, is a prat.
  21. This would be true if only there weren't guys riding white BMW RT1200s, with white flip front helmets and wearing polite jackets on the roads Dems be fighting words Kids are pretty cool. I have a nephew (Bikermoos fam) who thought it was awesome just showing him how a screwdriver works. In teenage times you buy them a games console, leave them alone, and they still don't like you

What did you use the others for? I used the raspberry pi 2 for the Gameboy emulator, more powah! I attempted an N64 emulator, but could never get the performance at a level I found acceptable. Just as well N64 titles are coming out on the 3DS.
  23. T10 or 501 bulbs usually fit dash backlights. Pulling the dash off is quite easy. Unplug it and remove securing bolts from its bracket, then work on getting the back cover off and you'll find your bulb sockets. Or that's how it is on the CBF125 so I imagine it will be easy.

This is crying electrical connector issue. Check the loom, unplug things, spray contact cleaner and reconnect firmly. Also look for worn through cables as if something like your tail light shorted out on the frame it could cause more mayhem than you think! Unplug the ECU and plug it back in after cleaning the connectors. Then keep an eye on it.

mmmm, Pie... prefer apple and blackberry Pies myself, but raspberry is still nice.... Sorry, I just had to get that out of my system... The pie or the joke? You wouldn't be the first or last member to use this forum while on the porcelain throne I fancy a raspberry pi zero for my next garage. I need a power usage monitor as I love efficiency based projects. But I also need an alarm, so was thinking of using some reed switches and then programming the pi to trigger a little warning alarm in the garage giving 20 seconds to disarm it or then fire off a much bigger alarm. Eventually I want it to send an e-mail to me when it goes off properly. It comes up on my phone screen so I can then access the remote CCTV I have and see what is happening before calling the po po.
