  1. I've had an ER6F and this guy was probably just having a spot of fun! Quick start, but I can hear short shifting and those twins love to be wringed. If he'd looked to catch you off guard and smoke you he probably could have made it to the next set of lights. His looks back was probably him wondering why you werent playing There are some good sports on Londons streets at least, this usually only happens to me north of the watford gap
  2. Always good for the experience, and you can check if any brake caliper pistons are seized. As I said just a decent smear on the back of the pads. As above there is a big emphasis on getting that bit right! But if you cant tell the pad from its business end and backing then Id suggest picking up a book as it's as obvious as saying nightime, it's the dark part of the day
  3. Possibly just the brake pads vibrating a bit, some copper grease on the back of the pads usually cures that issue. Other than that it could be the disc slightly rubbing on a pad but not enough to cause problems. If you try putting copper grease on the back of the front pads and it goes away, it eliminates that problem or at least pin points it better.
  4. Steering dampner... Leave it alone, if you find the handling ok and it isn't tank slapping... You're fine
  5. Ah 2nd and 3rd... I wonder if it's a dodgy shift drum... Bouncing the gear up a gear under strain. You could get 5-6th gear issues on an old bike that did that. Id need a video really to tell if it was fuelling or mechanical.
  6. Put things into number form and averages and you earn my trust in your info. Good stuff
  7. Always in 2nd? Could it be hopping into another gear? A old aprilia of mine used to slip from 2nd to 3rd quickly due to nackered selectors. Could cause it to jump too and from! That will be shite if it is, big strip down for that...
  8. Anything I can do to avoid squats? The deadlift I don't mind as I did 120kg quite happily. The long arms irritate me as my forearms are hard to get big!
  9. The % of diet vs training does massively change between PT's and various body builders. So I am still a bit apprehensive I must admit so I always just go a bit liberal and split it down the middle A cheat day is bad for people losing weight agreed, but for me it's great as I'm trying to bulk up. I don't do them so much now but last year I was doing one a week, still no fizzy drinks or cakes etc, but I would go to Nandos and eat a huge amount of chicken, chips, houmous with the peri peri drizzle etc and worked out in one sitting I was clearing 1800 calories Then about 12-8 weeks before holidays I just shut off all cheat days, all fat and sugar intake is reduced, protein is upped and training kept at the same speed. Just to cut myself down to the 15% body fat I enjoy today, aim is to drop to 10% next time I do a stint.
  10. Mixed up my terms, my body fat is 15% and dropping. My diet is a limiting factor now, I just don't eat enough so I've hit a wall at 80-82kg. It was nice to have a 6 pack out on show whilst on holiday for a change even if I'm pale as a ghost. But I want more size on me. I can only manage around 3000 calories a day, when I'm on a cheat day this escalates to 4000 when nandos is involved. So I need the calories of the cheat day with the good diet of the non-cheat days I'm on a 4 day a week split, usually I do arms, chest/shoulders, legs/core, back days. For cardio I cover about 15-20 miles a week just on foot in jogging and walking. Swapping this out to cycling to increase range and resistance. I eat a diet of mainly chicken, milk, veg, fruit, whey protein shakes, nuts, etc. Need to go onto plus sized portions.

    hyosung gt650r £300

A total beginner + Possible gearbox work = Looming disaster Can you even get spares for Hyosung as I thought they'd pulled out of the UK market!
  12. it's as simple as that! ....if you can put on about 10kgs of muscle, you *might* notice a difference... It is so long as your diet reflects the effort in the gym I hear people saying nutrition is 80% of it... I still disagree and think it is more 50% split mainly as I see some take more cheat meals than other and train harder to compensate get more trimmed. Do a good balance of both and you can't lose!
  13. When I was 60kg at that height it was more astounding! I'd say I wasn't doing bad whacking on 10kg per year! I could eat more than anyone who challenged (including a few hefty mates) so I just assume I have an absolutely raging matabolism. My bmi is 15% though, a few gym mates I used to train with were around the 90kg mark, but their bmi was nearer 25% and they were on creatine which I avoid as my kidneys dislike it and they carried a lot more water weight. You'd assume they could do more but then my 42" chest was benching more than their 46-48" chests could. My aim is the mid 90s, with a slightly lower bmi... No more as at that point you're built like captain America. I can bench 120kg as it is though so christ knows what you have to do to get to 90kg. I can squat clear over 100kg but it's my most hated exercise as I don't like loading my back.
  14. I'll tell you what the net's been saying for the last 5 years... -Eat more fat. -Do more weight training. -Take protein supplements. -We wasn't "designed" (who designed us!?) to digest carbs. And my personal favourite; -Coconut oil is the cure for everything, from beer bellies to cancer There you go, no need to do any research - I've given you the long and short of it LOL. I must show Moo this who believes the oil whitens teeth... I've been told to eat more healthy fats found in nuts! But if someone said "eat more fat" I'd be popping down to Maccy D's right after the gym Im not fond of the amount I have to eat, my gym did tests with me and found I need 2900-3000 cals a day just to maintain weight. I was one of those skinny guys that put away 18oz steaks and had entire chickens for lunch and didn't see an inch of waistline gained. Now I'm 20kg heavier and 15% bmi with a diet that has had to eliminate fizzy drinks, most chocolate and so on... On cheat days I devour a massive meal from Nandos however which makes up for it. So for burning fat... Just build muscle and then do more cardio on top, you'll see that fat dissappear.
  15. The A82 is the best road imo, I took it on the way to Inverness, and from there I picked up the A9 up to Thurso when I was trying to get to John O Groats again. The only problems you will have is the language barrier, like asking where an atm is will usually get the response "Aye, ye wanne gor to tha coup" this coup was actually referring to the Co-op shop but the pronunciation in one word completely threw me The other problem is how fast Scotland is, I wouldn't go into the more remote parts unless my bike had a 200 mile tank range as on a 300 mile tank range 125 I was left sweating on a couple of days when I chanced it. And lastly, if they start shouting, remain calm... They probably just like you and are interested
  16. CBF125 out of those options for a 30 mile slog. A YBR has no weather protection at all, and has no difference in power so you should go for the one with fairing! But for £2.5k you can get a very good condition new shape CBR125R which has better suspension, more power and wider tyres. Get that one
  17. If you're doing leg days I wouldn't just do squats. Do some stretches, then hit the leg press for 3 sets of 8-12 reps if you want to build up some muscle. But I'd also do some leg curls in the same manner and lunges as well. Also make sure you get good nutrition around the time you are in the gym, I drink an ungodly amount of milk which is rich in casein protein, and then I have whey protein shakes as well. It chops the recovery time in half for me. I'm doing it to keep fit, strong and build up a bit. I was only 60kg when I started and now I'm over 80kg. Still not heavy for a guy standing at 6ft 2 but good enough
  18. Don't think Klingelton was being personal with anyone I got taught "people are idiots" and it only makes sense when you're victim to human belief. I take it to mean when someone says "people are ***" that we all have the same capacity for it, not necessarily guilty of it. For example, girl goes crying to a bunch of lads she just met saying how she was used by her ex. These guys in hero mode go and punch up the lad... Only to find out he left her for her cheating on him and didn't tell anyone as it's not their business. They didn't bother fact checking, they just believed as this person seemed genuine - AKA an idiot. We've all been duped by something and felt an idiot at some time or another But on point! Cycle lanes are a good idea... But maybe cyclists should register and pay for them through a little thing I call road tax. It's simple, you get a road that is yours exclusively to use, regardless of the fact they won't wear it down anytime soon, weathering and accidents on the road will damage it over time. So paying a £10 annual pass for London cycle lanes to have your own safe, personal, and maintained space seems fair. I'd pay it as it would save me £10 in fuel in the first 2 days. And think of the countless thousands of cyclists in London. You get a good network going and a payment system to repair and expand it, and you have a working system build and maintained by the cyclist community. If only they did this with roads rather than spending the dosh elsewhere...

    Women

Yeah I hate this kind of stuff, it's like "LOOK AT US, WE LOVE EQUALITY" while entirely missing the point of equality I try to keep out of gender debates as I fiercely hate stereotypes placed on either side, from the men who objectify women to the women who think a man she doesn't know coming to talk to her is a severe invasion of her space and that men seem to think they own personal space... All that utter shite yada yada... Cnuts and femi-nazis. The guy who chanted out "Not in the bible" at the woman needs a slap though. If I could say one thing to him it is "you can believe against all things scientific that a god made the earth in 6 days, then got a virgin pregnant, then the son is nailed to a cross, but is brought back to life 3 days later so he can preach some more before ascending directly into heaven, but you can't believe a woman is a running for a higher rank than you?"
  20. We both have minions and extremely long job titles On paper mine was "Electrical/Instrumentation Designer and Engineering Technician" http://wac.450f.edgecastcdn.net/80450F/thefw.com/files/2013/06/Minions-Laughing.png
  21. By now something is up, especially with those attempts. Start a paypal resolution, this will at the very least get the sellers attention. If they fail to respond then they will lose the money back to you. If they do respond, then you can slam them for their bad service. Don't bother with waiting any more, you've gone beyond what I would expect to be a reasonable allowance.
  22. Knowledge is power, guard it wisely I do confess to the occasional ego stroke, when fresh uni graduates with no engineering experience, to the amusement of the older engineers rank themselves as the same make a cock up and I correct it for them, there's that feeling of satisfaction that while we both have pieces of paper calling us engineers, my job title means they feel a tad embarrassed when they make a slip up Depends where you want to go, London is good as the security measures are more relaxed it seems. Less guard dogs too I find in general! Also I'm not a fan of asbestos, I've had a few run ins with it now, luckily the white long undisturbed kind. But if I see it, I'm walking back out.

  24. You have got to be shitting me... He's upped the cost by just over 110%. I'd tell him to get out the industry, 30 years experience and not a fooking clue how to do an estimate. If he gave you a contract and it doesn't state estimate, I'd throw him to the dogs and go through small claims court to retrieve your lost money. Will only cost you about £70 to make the claim and at the very least if he fails to respond you automatically win, and if he does, he has to go to court for his day and he will be losing business to go there. Waste his time.

    Poor MPG...

For the fuelling, if I see you at a rideout I can have a pop on it and see if there's an issue. Ridden plenty of bikes of the same ilk, fireblade, Gixxer 1000, MV Agusta, HP4 etc so if there's a problem I can compare it with those. The Gixxer was a bit rough off the line, whereas the blade was smooth, but if there's an actual issue I'm usually good at picking up on them. For the clutch, some of my past Honda's have done that rattle. Usually I let the clutch out and there's a brief deep sounding rattle, not a thrashing noise. Usually happened at low to medium revs with a high load on the clutch, which I think might just be an imperfect clutch shuddering under the torsional load you are putting through it.
