  1. you wear it, I'll sing it!
  2. just out of interest what colour's what?
  3. ok, now put meter onto DC Volts (0 to 30V) put black test lead onto neg terminal of battery or known good earth. touch other test lead onto bare ends of wires and measure voltages. if you find 12v operate switch and see if voltage is switched or permanent. do all that and get back to us
  4. ok! this is hard to explain put the meter on continuity(the ohms sign) touch the leads together, it will either buzz or read 0 or both. now put one lead onto a known good earth and leave it there. with the other lead touch the bare ends of each of the wires in turn. the 1 that buzzes/reads 0 is the earth wire.
  5. the normal colour convention does not apply to bike looms! that means that red could be earth! green could be live etc. in the absence of a drawing you need a volt meter/tester to find out what's what.
  6. no need for sorry! I'm as much at fault as you! why don't you start another thread in bike chat?
  7. there's about 2 million, " what bike shall I buy?" threads in bike chat! lets leave this section to CBT/training now please!
  8. any of them! Sports or touring? personally I'd look at fazer/ bandit/SV/ ER6 then, like I say you'll find out what you really want as you gain experience.
  9. well done! welcome to a whole new world! If you want my opinion, and it is only my opinion Don't buy a new bike! Don't go into debt for 1 ! Work out your budget, including insurance etc buy a cheapish 2nd hand jap bike. (600 ish). get used to riding, learn what you're doing and what you want from biking, Your wants will change! Then after a year or 2 spend a bit more!
  10. could well be the speedo! but he needs to check the easy stuff first! it was him saying the needle was jumping about that made me think it might be the cable catching.

  14. you're welcome! you ought to be able to find some to fit your bike try google, bike accessories.
  15. yes, there's an inner cable, which spins, and an outer sheath, so if the inner isn't firmly and properly in, at either end, or if the outer is bent/ kinked/damaged/routed wrong, it won't work properly.
  16. hello and welcome to TMBF please say hello in the newbies section and put your location in your profile I'm not too sure what you mean by crash pads! you can get crash bungs to fit most bikes sometimes called crash mushrooms. they're lumps of plastic which you bolt to the frame they stick out further than the fairing so hit the ground first in a spill.
  17. I would think that either the bottom of the cable isn't seated properly or the cable is kinked somewhere should be easy to sort yoursel
  18. Well done! and good luck!
  19. Hello and welcome to TMBF please say hello in the newbies section and put your location in your profile As for your question, sorry I don't know, I don't think a bandit engine will fit!
  20. we're in! got .6 million left!
  21. if you google stale fuel you'll see the arguments! some people reckon as little as 4 weeks!
  22. modern, unleaded fuel goes off if left stood for a period of time! The additives seperate out and become a sticky, horrible mess! In the worst cases this can lead to full carb/fuel system failure!
