I think your bike kit is a personal thing, have you thought about vouchers from a dealer or Hein Gerriecke for example? that way he could choose his own kit.

has it got a manual choke? you need choke on to start from cold then choke off to run when warm. if it's new and it's not something you're doing wrong take it back asp!!!

I had the same problem with one of my bikes! not sure but I think it was a vfr750 anyway, after a lot of faffing about I went to the local Ford dealer and bought 1 for a Ford Escort! perfect fit! You could go to a local small engineering firm and have 1 made!
