  1. I'm old , never had to do it, passed old test first time though good luck!
  2. if you can't get to practice, on private land, on a motorbike, practice slow manoeuvres, u turns etc on a pedal bike! trust me!, it works. also! look where you want to go not where you don't.
  3. Sue's Fazer600
  4. well done! welcome to a whole new world
  5. the nighthawk is same engine i think but more cruiser type american style. have you tried e mailing haynes and asking?

    Fast tapping noise

could be the cam or followers! some engines do it especially when cold, has it been regulary serviced, is there enough of the right oil in it? if you're worried get it checked out! it's probably normal though

    Motorcycle mover

i've never tried one of them mover things! you can spin bike on sidestand if you're brave!, i don't do it often! i do it the other way round!, i back my bike down the drive and into the garage, then ride it out
  8. i've voted for the kwack, but really i wouldn't buy a new bike as my first big bike at all! buy a 2nd hand jap 600 keep it for a year or so then buy new! that way you'll do all your learning and find out what you really want in a bike before spending loads of dosh

    Honda CB100n

hello and welcome to TMBF say hello in the newbies section if you're sticking around! the first things I'd try, cheaply, would be air filter and spark plug

hello mivv it, welcome to TMBF say hello in the newbie's section if you're sticking around
  13. i was under the impression you couldn't "fail" the CBT! it's training! not a test, you just need more training! however!, treat it with the respect it deserves! don't try to do it after 3 hours sleep! If you've paid for it once you shouldn't have to pay again IMO, maybe for the bike hire but that's all. Go for it again!, when not tired and remember! It's meant to be fun!
  14. out of the very limited choice I've voted for the Kwack! there are far better choices out there though!
  15. congratulations
  16. i wanted a blackbird when i was looking, couldn't find a decent 1 for the money i wanted to spend, about the same as you, have you thought about a fazer1000?, good bikes! paid £1800 for mine!
  17. hello and welcome to TMBF please post in the newbies section and say hello I'm not 100% sure but about 95% that the answer to your question is no you can't. it's a bit of a grey area but our L plates are no good abroad for a start! in fact, the more i think about it the more sure i am the answer is no Sorry!
  18. when i had a 50 30 odd years ago before restrictions were invented fsie and ap50 would do 50/55 mph fastest ped, by far, was the fantic chopper! would do nearly 70! used to break down a lot though!
  19. has to be the blackbird! i wouldn't even put the ducati on my list! you'll be lucky to get either for £2k though!
  20. Fair enough Chris!, you have to go with your heart sometimes one thing I would suggest is that you try to get a sit on one first! I don't know how tall/big you are but VFR400's are tiny! The v four engines are very reliable! Electrics seem to be the biggest problem! especially reg/rectifiers, as with most Hondas
  21. It all depends on the state of the bike! And what needs doing to it, VFRs are notoriously diificult to work on! You'd negate most of this problem as you're going to strip bodywork etc off anyway. depends how bad you really want one! they're getting a bit old now. good bikes when right though! safer bet would be a newer in line 4 but!, no pain no gain
  22. ok people!, enough is enough! The forum can not and will not condone de-restricting bikes and riding them illegally! We know people will still do it though. It is stupid, irresponsible and just plain wrong! now can we leave it at that please?
  23. too late i think
  24. 15th! got the 3 places back again! I fully expected to come last!
