    Secret Santa

Ok, count me in. (got a nasty feeling I'm gonna end up regretting this)

    MOROCCO TRIP

Have a great trip - it looks like an amazing tour. I guess you know to watch out for the snow: the roads in the High Atlas can be closed in bad weather.
  3. Don't know if this helps, but it's the best explanation I've found of how to get a motorcycle licence: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/551465/routes-to-your-motorcycle-licence.pdf This is the bit on how to get an A2 licence. http://i.imgur.com/7N7zPy9.png So, if you've already got a valid CBT, it means you don't have repeat it again (as long as it's still valid i.e. less than two years old.) You also don't need to do your theory test until you come to do the first module of the 2-part practical test. And once you've got the A2, this is how to convert it to a full A licence: http://i.imgur.com/T5rtRVH.png Basically, you have to do the same two part practical test again, but on a bigger bike.
  4. Had the Forcefield one for a few years, and I use it every ride, just like my helmet. The only days I notice it are when it's really hot.
  5. I reckon all the above is good advice. When my missus did her CBT, she also found it hard to get much above 30, and the instructor advised her to go and ride around on a 125 for a while, to build her confidence up. My guess is that, if they feel someone's going to need a bit of time to do this, then they advise this as it's going to work out cheaper than continuing with lessons. But it's up to you; whichever way you choose, you'll continue to learn. Even if you can get a 125, then you might want try doing something like one lesson every month or two, so you continue to get some instruction as you go.
  6. Wow those FIFA guys are so politically correct. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/news/2016/03/17/fifaseven_3318978b-large_trans++pJliwavx4coWFCaEkEsb3kvxIt-lGGWCWqwLa_RXJU8.jpg
  7. ... And now you have to keep them for ever and ever [emoji16]
  8. Wow, a sad tale. Moraira always seems so peaceful, like nothing like that could happen there.
  9. I like the fact its a quiet helmet and has decent airflow which is a must on my bike! I get a lot of engine heat The GT Air is a nice lid. Not as quiet as the Qwest, but still pretty quiet especially when the front vent is closed. It used to fog up on me badly with the chin curtain in, but it's fine now I've removed it. Best of all, it's really really comfortable.
  10. Sounds like great progress. All the best with the test

    First Bike!

    K2. Very nice bike
  12. It was Bridge St, by Magdalene, the narrow bit over the bridge itself. I've given up on Devonshire Road for the time being. I got fed up at having to dash from gap to gap or die. Sniper alley.
  13. Had almost exactly this a couple of the weeks. We got to the bit where the bike stopped but maintained position. Then the car kept edging towards me until he finally made contact with my crash bars. He seemed very put out when I told him he'd hit me.
  14. So, even assuming this crackpot idea worked, the idea is to make it easier to see by sticking a whacking suction cup on your visor and blocking your line of sight with a propeller? Vorsprung durch Technik??
  15. Just got this email: Not a hope here of course - thick cloud and lashings of light pollution.
  16. I don't mind completing a survey if it helps someone out who's doing their degree. But I'm a bit puzzled - what is it about undergraduate projects and surveys? I guess I'm very old fashioned, but back in the previous millennium we spent our time learning stuff and doing exams
  17. Well done mate. If you want to test bikes at mc live, you'll need to get there first thing; the test slots get booked up pretty quickly. It's still worth going though just to sit on the bikes and see how they feel.
  18. Really lovely bike. Didn't see a car
  19. S-speed boots? Is that 4 up and 1 down?
  20. +1 for Daytona Gore-Tex. Dry and very comfortable; I often wear them all day at work.
  21. Well done mate. Great achievement.

    Rice pudding

Rice pudding is one the greatest achievements of Western civilisation. To appreciate it is to appreciate all that is fine in life.
  23. Could be because Labradors are the most popular breed in the UK. Here's a county by county map of dog breeds: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-27690167
  24. We used to have to have licences to own dog. If I remember right they used to cost 7/6, the same as a marriage licence. But I don't think they were successful either in helping dogs or control ownership. In the end they were scrapped. I think the problem is with the dog breeders. If you get a dog from the dog's home they question you and visit your house and look at your kids and only then they let you take one of their dogs (at least that what happened with us). But you can go to a breeder, pay your money and they don't have to do anything to check how you're going to look after the dog. So I'd go for licences for dog breeders, together with inspections where they'd have to show how they vet their customers.
  25. Get a quote sorted online. Then if you buy the bike, you can buy the insurance on the phone (online or in the old-fashioned way by talking to someone) before you ride it away. Road tax too. That way you're free to walk away if you're not 100% happy when you go and see it.
