  1. Similar here. My wife asked what we would do if we're told Vlad the Bad is sending us a missile. We're taking shelter in the cupboard under the stairs
  2. My guess is you're going to have to take this on the chin. If you want to contest, google is your friend. There are sites telling you how to contest parking fines issued by public companies.
  3. PAYG SIM only on O2. Costs about £50 a year. But I don't roam much, not even out of the house...
  4. Made a wide shelf out of some bit offcut of thick ply I found in the garage, mounted it in the garage*, about 4 feet high. Screwed in long towel rails to the underside, to take hangers for jackets and trousers. Helmets and crap go on top. *ok, technically it's in the upstairs part of the garage. Not sure why our garage has an upstairs...
  5. The sv650 and the divi are both good, reliable bikes. Find one in that's been looked after and you'll do well. Good to check the luggage options. A friend who has an sv650 struggled to find luggage that was good for touring.
  6. I wouldn't signal, as you're continuing along the right of way. It's true the right of way splits into a right and left lane, but I wouldn't signal for either; I'd just position myself to the right or left of the lane before reaching the "Keep Clear" box - perhaps using a shoulder check beforehand. If I saw someone signal left there, I might think they were going to pull over to the kerb on the left (perhaps to pick someone up) and I'd be surprised if they simply meant they were going down the left lane.
  7. Three rounds of back surgery in the last four years; that can't have been at all nice. Hope you're repairing ok. I guess you could add bar raisers and perhaps even pull the bars back, but I somehow doubt you'll ever make it something your back will thank you for. So I'd say trade it in for something your back will like. I used to have a GSXR600, which was fun mainly because of the way it screamed as it hit the red line, but I had to sell it on because of a prolapsed disc in my neck. But the MV I've got now is perfect: when I was in Germany last year, I couldn't sit down at a table for more than hour, but I could ride all day in no pain at all. I really miss the forward body-position of a sportsbike, but being more upright isn't such a bad compromise, especially if it means you can ride all day and then get up the next day and do the same thing again.
  8. Pretty good feeling, isn't it? Well done on the pass

    Very Sad

Very sad... The defendant was fined £1000.
  10. Why not email the dealer? Something like, "Dear Sir, I've tried to book my new bike into your workshop for its first service, but as there are no suitable dates available, by the time I can get a slot, I will have ridden 800 miles, not the 600 miles scheduled. If I bring it to you on this date, will you still be able to honour the warranty, or should I look to get it serviced somewhere else? Kind regards"
  11. Nooooo don't do it! You don't want to be the one you made it rain!
  12. Got the MV serviced. Found a local guy who specialises in Italian bikes.
  13. Rated at 80 miles between charges. Which a lot less than that in the real world. Yawn.

Welcome in. Nice bikes, sir. How far northeast is northeast... ME?
  15. Amazon. The delivery driver came earlier this week and poked a package through our letterbox. Perhaps understandable, as the house number and road name almost matched ours, even though the post code is from 20 miles away. So Mrs bonio contacts Amazon on chat and spends ages trying to explain what had happened. Eventually they grasp it and tell us to keep the package - a few Apple cables - and they'd send another out to the buyer. Two days later, the same delivery bloke drops another package of cables through the front door. Mrs bonio has contacted them again. Such a pity the buyer hadn't ordered cake.
  16. Yeah, that's what I was looking for; easy to believe the bike you're after just doesn't exist. Did you look at the Z1000SX?

    Squared Tyre

New tyres are the only way to get rid of the bump and return to smooth cornering. I usually put up with it for a while, but eventually even I have to shake the moths off the wallet and cough up.
  18. If my uncle could sell "unfit for military service" certificates during the war, I can perhaps see a future opportunity for anyone with a few "made using carbon-neutral processes" certificates going spare.
  19. Mental note: never ride with Joe - the bloke's got his own personal bad weather system following him. Good on you, getting back on the machine. You'll enjoy Luxembourg.
  20. Basically, no, there's no easy way to ride your own big bike between CBT and the test. Although you can ride it when accompanied by instructor, getting insurance is a major headache. Easier by far to take the DAS lessons, pass the test, and then buy your bike. Also, since you'll at least have ridden on one or perhaps two different bikes, you'll have a slightly better idea of the kind of bike you're going to be comfortable riding.
