If you're intending moving on up to a bigger bike later, then why not keep things simple and just do DAS? The instructors will teach you how to handle the bike and make sure you know how to ride safely. You can do it as an intensive course or spread it out over a few weeks, like Onesea, so you'd have your full licence in June or July. You need have passed a CBT before starting DAS, so that bits not wasted. The 125 route can work out cheaper, but DAS means you'll be riding a 500 or 600 this summer.

I've been trying out different sat nav apps on my phone. This is what I've found so far * Google maps. Good, except stops the navigation at the first waypoint and won't do any more until you press "Continue". Which is impossible in gloves of course - anyone know a way round this? Limited options for downloading maps in advance. * Beeline (they do a free phone app). It comes with two settings: "arrow" which shows the standard beeline arrow display, and "map", which is, well, a map. It doesn't do voice commands. I tried it on "map" and it wasn't great; the map was hard to see, and so the lack of voice was a problem. * Navigator. The UI is bit a confusing, and as a result, I find putting in a route with waypoints tricky. Once it's running though, the map is very easy to see even in full sunlight (thanks to thick route line and good contrast). The voice commands are good, although sometimes a turn isn't called out (where it's unclear on the map which road has priority) and it doesn't do the "turn left, then immediately right" thing very well. Minor complaints. I liked the fanfare sound it plays when you go over the speed limit. Can download UK maps and safety camera info. * Navmii. Can download UK maps, but I haven't yet worked out how to enter a route. I'll try a bit more before giving up in frustration. I am looking for something that allows you download maps in advance, so Navigator Free is my favourite so far. Going to carry on trying out different offerings.

Front wobble or back wobble? Back wobble was very likely something on the road or rutted surface. Front wobble is altogether a different thing.

I went down a pothole on the Tiger and damaged the tyre - needed replacing. This was last year, just before lockdown. But I put in a claim to Highways (as it was on the A14) and they refunded 80% of the cost. Took the 6 months to do it, but I got the money back in the end. I bet you can claim for a spring, too, if you can identify the pothole that broke it.

Agree with @Gerontious. I hear of bad forks, shock, rims, paint, seat, fasteners, clutch, gearbox etc etc. But the worst complaint about any bike engine I've heard is that it's soulless.

Only bought one bike without a test ride - a GSX-R600. Lovely, lovely bike. But I only had it a year. I had to get rid of it cos it killed me neck.

I've heated grips on the DRZ, but no relay, and I thought now would be a good time to fix it. I've bought the relay, I reckon I understand how to wire it in. But... what's the best way of splicing into a switched live? Is there a waterproof splicer thingy I can get on ebay? Or do I just cut the cable, solder the three wires together and make good with heat shrink? Ta

I've messed up on this already. I'm on a vaccine trial. I was injected with something last year; perhaps it was a vaccine, perhaps it was sludge. 50:50 either way. No certificate of course, cos then I'd know whether I'd had the vaccine or not, and they'd have to kick me off the trial. Meanwhile, I'm now officially old enough to expect a call to be vaccinated in the next few weeks. If I do, I'd have to quit the trial. But if I don't, that's my chance of getting a certificate gone. Pppsssssht. No patisserie worker worth their salt is going to want to listen to let me anywhere near their tartes tatins.

I've used MCE just once, when I couldn't get anything for less than twice the amount. Never had to make a claim, so can't comment of that part of it. Crazy high excess (£900 iirc) and charges for just about everything including informing them you're about to sneeze. I'd use them again, but not if anyone else came close in price.

I've an Oxford leather jacket. Not expensive. Understated. Looks fine with jeans.

I've use a separate back protector: that way I only need one, and it works with every jacket.
