Had this. Very quickly got a whole lot better at looking ahead, smooth riding and clutchless shifts. The only issue was stopping a red lights: all I could manage was to stall the bike and start it again when they went green.

Fitted a radiator guard and a RAM mount to the yoke. Was going for a ride but the roads were damp clearly not natural for an Italian bike. So took it home and wiped it down with a soft damp cloth.

Time for a Guinness here. One the best bits of working from home is the beer starts even before the work ends.

Does it work like that?? So I've just shelled out £200 on insurance when I only needed to pay whatever for changing the bike? I knew I was a bit daft, but I guess I've taken it to new levels. I had a whole week of being more profoundly stupid than normal: yesterday, I was sent away from the pharmacy with a flea in my ear because the prepayment card I showed the lady had expired. And when tried to buy a new one online the site didn't let me, saying I already had "access to free NHS services" whatever that's supposed to mean. It's only when mrs bonio hands me my prepayment card today that I realised what I'd shown to pharmacist was my YHA membership card. Funny thing is, I'd been using the same card all year to collect my prescriptions. Wondering if I should just sign myself into a care home now and be done with it.

A bit of background to this: I took out insurance with protected NCD from Bikesure. Bike was stolen, all settled and paid out by the end of August. No complaints. Today I phoned them asking for a proof of NCD, which I need for the insurance on the new bike. It went a bit like this - I'm after proof of no claims discount on my policy - Oh no sir, sorry, but the policy is still active. - What? But you paid out after the bike was stolen and never recovered. It was a total write off claim - Sorry sir, we don't have any record of you phoning to ask us to cancel the policy - But I phoned you last week to ask for a quote using the NCD, saying that the policy will have been cancelled automatically. And the person looked up the policy and said fine - One minute sir while I put you on hold ** long wait ** - Excuse me sir, can I ask you wait a bit longer? - Sure of course, no problem ** another long wait ** - Well I can see that you called for a quote, but I have no record of you asking for the policy to be cancelled - But I did mention the policy being cancelled, and if you doubt me you can go and listen to the recording of the call - Yes but you didn't mention using the NCD - But I did, and you can listen to recording of the call now and avoid any doubt - Er.. No problem sir, I can cancel the policy, backdated to date you called Frustrating, but I was lucky I'd called them last week. The lesson is, the next time my bike's stolen or written off, once the claim's settled, call the insurer one more time and cancel the policy.

Managed to sneak out over lunch and rode it for the First Time

I did this. It wasn't a planned thing, I just got a moped, stuck on some L plates, and rode it to work and back for a year. Then later I decided to learn to ride a bike and so did my CBT. It very likely made it a lot easier on the day.

Sunday lunch out is off. We're now having children and grandchildren for lunch

Gotta chase down what might be a leak in the roof. No stains showing, just a smell of a bit of damp. We don't eat out much, but it's our anniversary so we're planning to go out for Sunday lunch.

Just make sure they do a new quote as if you have used a comparison site they will get the commission not the forum

About to get buy some insurance. Bikesure look like a front runner. I've read about the forum discount, but last time when I phoned, the person on the other said flatly there was no discount for TBMF members. I probably said the wrong thing... so what's the right thing to say? Or is this discount just mythical?

Cheers [mention]Stu[/mention] but I've decided to for phone only. If I find it gets frustrating, I'll think about a sat nav later. I've decided not to go for X_Grip or anything where you can release the phone with one hand; I just think it makes it too easy to nick while you're waiting at the lights. Quad Lock looks good, and I like the looks of ultimateaddons' stuff too. Ultimateaddons have the slight edge as they have a case that is reasonably waterproof, and my phone is notoriously famous for frying itself in water.

Lol. I tried your ebay link out just now, but couldn't find the item so guessed it had sold. As said, I don't want a sat nav if I can avoid it, as it squabbles with the phone over who gets to talk to the Cardo. Last time I tried it (the night the Tiger got stole ), the nav went sulky and silent on me for a couple of hours and then splurged all its pent up instructions in a 5 minute long stream. Proper sat nagging.

How are you doing with the mount [mention]raesewell[/mention] ? Is it still holding up? Asking as I'm tossing up in my mind between phone mount or satnav. I'd like find a way to use the phone as I don't want end up with a phone / sat nav fight like Stu has.

That sounds like the one. He rides an S1000XR, so 50% wild, 50% sensible.

26 and 29 on the DRZ. I think it's 17 all round on the VanVan. But 36 and 42 has worked well for me on everything else.

Don't know if this is much help: The older guy who runs the Helmet City store in Cheddar is getting a lid done for his wife. If you're passing that way, it may be worth dropping him and asking him.
