Not feeding the fire but... These style of 'Polite' vests have been around a lot longer than a year. I voted 'tosser' not because of the vest - It is rather the type (in the main) of people who wera it - I too have seen these people ';bully' their way through traffic as though they have the same rights as a police biker on a call. I have an Orange vest that says 'Umpire' on the back - It is flourescent and it was free! I don't normally wear it - it only gets put on when I am off on the bike in very poor viz (fog). As to personal opinions - that is what they are "personal". I don't care what the basis is - they are "personal". I don't like bananas and that is my personal view. If you like bananas, so be it - It does not change my opinion, nor does it effect my life. Time to draw a close to this thread (no I'm not a moderator) and start a new one on.... 'Countersteering'.

I'll be there but - There are no rooms available! So I'm booking a B&B about 6 miles up the road. T'missus & t'dog are also looking to come and have a gander. Not certain whether I'll be on t'bike or not yet. T'missus will be in t'car (not sure about t'dog! ) May come as 'Adam, Eve and Serpent (well a dog dressed as a snake ). Costumes are very cheap (just a few [strikeout]small[/strikeout] large leaves).

Also did some digging as this issue has intrigued me! The build up of the plates and the stack height is good. The plates are all flat (you checked). The only things that leaves are: 1. The clutch is overheating with use and plates are warping causing the clutch to partially engage. 2. There is still air in the system which is allowing the pressure to 'creep' down. if possible tie the clutch lever fully in overnight (it may work). Even better if you can borrow a vibration plate and leave the bike back wheel sat on this overnight. Otherwise I have no further ideas.

Interesting thread this (when you filter out the 'off-topic' bits). There are lots of articles on t'web regarding improving performance and top speed of an engine but... If the rider is a 'lardass' and no streamlining / weight reduction has been done, all that will improve is the 'grunt' and accelleration. Like Stu - I personally would not look to 'improve' a Bonnie in this way but - I have done similar in the past on a Tiger100!! Was it worth it? Not really but it was a sense of achievement that I actually completed the project without any outside assistance and had a 'better' engine because of it. NB. I've seen a fair few people 'ogling' my Bandit - After all, 'it does what it says on the box'.

Fuel blockage - try disconnecting/undoing the carb base and check for correct (free) operation of the float valve. If nothing else works, then I'd suggest cleaning the carb.

Had the same with an early 2-stroke. Replaced all bottom end seals and gasket. Problem solved!

Simple fix but a shed load of work to strip down and rebuild.
