  1. Thanks all for your concerns. I am well on the road to recovery now and (with a bit of luck and good weather), I'll be on t'bike in a couple more weeks. As to age - I mentioned this to the consultant on admittance to the ward and he said it was not that uncommon - the last one he did was aged 92! Back at work (from Home) Monday. Tuesday I'll commute in to St Evenarge (37 miles each way) but that will be in t'car Thursday - following Tuesday I'm working from home and then it's back to 'normal'.
  2. Point being, this fix is just a treatment of a symptom, not the cause. More effort to give these people their homeland back would be better. But with the way politics work in this country 9as well as the rest of Europe) it just will not happen!
  3. But..... That is a wheel wrench - for use when changing wheels, not tyres (see my first comment). To change tyres you have to prise the tyre offf the rim (and you cannot do that with a wheel brace!).
  4. Get an off-cut of tubular steel from your local supplier. You change your own car tyres? Most folk swap the wheel over and get a garage to fix / change the tyre!
  5. I'm on the extreme west of Cambridgeshire but there may be others nearer the east.
  6. Castle Rising Castle Castle Acre Castle
  7. Well - Best laid plans, etc. I had decided that I needed to get out on t'bike and therefore planned to do 'East Anglia' tags and sweep up the pubs on my return. However...... After an hour in the rain, I decided to limit the trip to Castle Rising Castle and Castle Acre Castle (thought about Norwich Castle but by then the rain was really well set in. I'll say this about the Rocket - As long as you are moving at 30 or more, you stay dry (apart from the lower legs)! Met a fellow biker at Castle Rising but he had 'never heard of TMBF' - Well he has now! Whether he joins or not, we shall have to wait and see. His name is Phil and he rides a 600 Bandit. Pubs will have to wait until next weekend.
  8. Does that mean the Castle only needs to be in the background so when I start my deteriorating circles to the entrance I can stop where said landmark is identifiable and in shot? Thanks GOG seems there is more miles to do this year and maybe a camping trip to get a decent score... A couple of observation not complaint the links from the photo thread could do with correcting... Links should be OK (Stu 'sorts these for me as I am hopeless at such 'modern' thingies). Preferably, a sign with the Castle name (usually found near the entrance) is better than a distant shot of a 'pile of old stones'! A helpful tip is to use google maps and 'ground view' the location (including approach road) - you can usually spot signs and get a view of what you need to look for. It's what I do when researching the tags. I even had Stu volunteer to check out the one near him and, after discussion, we decided it was 'OK' (see Stu's previous comment). We were reluctant to remove this one as there are very few alternatives in that area of the country.
  9. theres one just around the corner from the tag in York city centre Well spotted! You will find most pubs are close to another 'main' tag. Although, it may need a bit of investigative preparation when you plan your route.
  10. Now that's what I call crochet! Thanks all - have a great time getting these 'Tags'. No extra points for getting the bike on the ramparts!! However, hoisting a TMBF 'flag' up the flagpole might gain you a few points (delivered in person from one of Her Majesty's finest police officers!). Congrats to the first to post a 'tag'. Weather dependent, I'll get a few this weekend.
  11. Outfit already sorted!
  12. Happy New Year Everyone (now where is the paracetamol?).
  13. I don't know - I spend many weeks researching the 'tags' and I get them out on NYE and people still complain! Tea shops? What kind of motorcyclist are you? Next thing you know, someone will want 'quilting groups'! At least the ladies are 'real' biker's and have 'promised' to get higher scores this year. You may find that most of the castles are just a few scattered stones but, more than likely, there will be a mobile tea and burger van nearby (if not a pub). Anyhoo - Get out and explore Great Britain (before we become an American State); enjoy the scenery, accept the 'challenge' and embrace the British history. Yes there will be single-track roads, green lanes and even gravel to cope with and, for those that must, there are always motorways! Hope you all have a great 2016 - See you at T'Rally.
  14. OK - Enjoy kiddiwinks! But please remember - This is not a race!
