  1. So... You are talking about a thermocouple device attached to the exhaust which will convert the heat into electricity? You could strap a coiled tube containing water with a small turbine inside however, after a short while, the temperature of the fluid will stabalise and there will be no more flow. A better solution would be fitting a wind generator to the rear rack / pillion seat or, better yet, photovolaic (solar) panels. Hang on though, what about attaching a dynamo to the bike or, maybe an alternator?
  2. Cut it off, then cut inside the inside bit so you can crush and twist it out.
  3. Hot enough to melt a hole in the sleeve of my textile jacket! But, strange as it may seem, it was cold to the touch before I started it up this morning
  4. Should (repeat 'should') be OK as the colour is near pefect.
  5. Confusing what? As an Electronics Engineer maybe I can add some advice? The fact that the system works OK when the 'dash' bulb is removed will be due to the bulb haveing too LOW a resistance and effectively being in parallel with the indicator feed, the majority of the current is going down this path. The introduction of LED indicators is a bit of a 'balancing act' with regard to the current drawn - There is a need to reduce the current to each pair of indicators (left / right) in order to enable the 'flasher' circuit to operate correctly. This is normally achieved by introducing resistance into the feed to the indicator pairs. Some of the 'better' systems have a seperate feed to the 'dash' indicator but most will require you to 'balance' this feed also. Again, this can be done by adding resistance in this feed but, it is more difficult to match the circuit requirement. An 'easier' option is to replace this bulb with a high resistance LED (of the correct voltage) which will reduce the current flow and allow the circuit to operate correctly. The resistors you show in your picture have two wires from each end - These are for BOTH LED indicators (i.e. Front is one wire from each end and Rear is one wire from each end (one resistor for right indicators and one for left indicators). Hopefully this now makes sense?
  6. Unless you can definitely pinpoint where the oil is coming from, I'd go the gasket replacement as a first step.. As you say "cheap" and easy to do.
  7. Jam Jar with a little brake fluid in in + tube into bottom of jar (primed with brake fluid) - No air gets in. Simples!
  8. Question is - Where is the oil coming from? Are you sure that the gasket (13) is not leaking oil which is running to the collection point where you are seeing it? I'd check that first before looking to replace the seals. When did you do the last 'top end' service? The gasket and seals should have been replaced then.
  9. Easy welding job - should only take a few minutes. The longer time / effort will be smoothing it down and re-drilling / tapping. Get the price for a used head / engine and use this as a guide for the weld job quotation - Go for whichever is cheaper.
  10. Thanks to all - Great event (as always). Met up with Stu at the 'new' A45 / A46 junction. Got home safe and well - T'missus arrived 30 minutes after I got home (same route) and she set off 20 minutes before I did! Pictures to be uploaded when I get chance.
  11. Setting off soon. Mrs GOG and Dylan will be following in the car. Raining here at the mo though! Like other - Time for the 'rainsuit dance' See you there.
  12. ??? I think I know what you are trying to do but that won't have the desired effect. If the issue was fuel shortage, then the engine would be mis-firing or cutting out. The needle needs raising ('normal' carbs allow for this by having stepped notches on the top of the needle which can be removed from the slide). It this case, it would appear that the OPs carb has a single slide/needle unit (no removal / adjustment of the needle). Only way out of this is to (carefully) increase the taper of the needle by grinding/sanding down - Not an easy task if the needle cannot be removed. i would therefore advise ether replacing the carb completely (with a 'race' varient) or, ensure fuel contains UCL (RedEx) on every fill. Good luck.
  13. Aim to be there mid-day (for lunch).
  14. No - I did a quick search around the garden and driveway but found nothing. When did you lose it?
  15. There is a post from a guy who wants to take pictures of octagenarian Motorcyclists but, as you don't get out much, you probably don't qualify!
  16. That looks the biz Dav3y
  17. I'd certainly complain if that is all that was available for breakfast!
  18. Losers can always ask 'Rennie' if it is OK to lie down in his awning or, there is always the 'bar floor'!
  19. I once made the mistake when changing plugs to use a 'high grade - tungsten tip' set. The bike would not start! I tried everything before asking the expert at the Suzuki garage who said 'try putting the correct plug type in' - I did and it fired up first time! New (now used) set was sold on fleabay for just under half what I paid. Lesson learnt.
  20. That's not being harsh! Tango can be real mean when he wants to be.
