1. Midlands meet Southwest.
2. Yep was a good meet-up. Left home at 10:00. Met speedy at 10:30 at the nominated fuel station. We then had a very windy ride to the the Barge Inn. As SCM says we were cold on arrival. Any way after good food and company we left at 4:00. SatNav gave home time as 6:15. Not too bad. However on the way back We ran into first rain then hail then snow then sleet. The snow and sleet was settling as we approached Burton on the Water. I’ll just say the ride at that point was interesting and speedy and i got separated as we were a lot slower than cars. and were being passed. We did met up again Stow as I stopped for fuel and a warm. I finally arrived home at 6:50, probably colder than Slowlycatchymonkey

6. That’s OK.............. if you are on the footplate of a steam locomotive.
7. Not really Bob. I'm a Manufacturing Engineer not an electrician they are different disciplines. In any case, the question was WHERE. And an electrician is not the same as an electrical engineer. Just saying.
8. Final two pubs done. Hare and Hounds Rising Sun
9. I may be tempted to trim them down. But they were fine with my last helmet.
10. Stu I wore foam plugs then I went for custom made. Had them with removable speakers. The speakers were fine for the sound but the wires wer3 so thin they broke. Had a new serpent FOC. These lasted about 12 months! They were fine to wear and were good at taking out the wind noise. Then I changed my helmet. New helmet has recess over the ears for intercom speakers. But there is a bit of pressure at the top of the ears. Now when I wear the custom made, when the helmet is removed as the recess goes over the ears the ear plugs are pulled out as the helmet comes off, this is not comfortable. Also after an hour or so of riding, as I wear glasses, there is pressure where the outer edge of the custom made press on the glasses go over the top of the ear. It’s k if I wear contacts, but that is an other story. Hope that makes sense, it does to me. Up shot is I tend to wear foam plugs now most of the time.
11. There are worse things than hearing loss. Tinnitus... Which in my case is so bad at times that people think I am hard of hearing. It's not that.. For me it's the constant "white noise/hissing/low grade whistling" sound I have constantly. No history of this in my family, the audiologist blamed the bike/helmet/wind noise over 20 years before earplugs/defenders were a thing. I now wear them every ride so that it doesn't get any worse than it is. I'm ok with it, but for some people it's intolerable to the point of suicide. Not wearing earplugs in the early days of riding coupled with listening to music through headphones has left me with a mild tinnitus. Just a low background whistle so not too bad. But now I wear earplugs all the time when riding.
12. Because no one would do this any more. “Then they would pound and scour the skin to remove any remaining flesh and fat. Next, the tanner needed to remove the hair fibers from the skin. This was done by either soaking the skin in urine, painting it with an alkaline lime mixture, or simply letting the skin putrefy for several months then dipping it in a salt solution. After the hair fibers were loosened, the tanners scraped them off with a knife. Once the hair was removed, the tanners would bate the material by pounding dung into the skin or soaking the skin in a solution of animal brains. Among the kinds of dung commonly used were that of dogs or pigeons. Sometimes the dung was mixed with water in a large vat, and the prepared skins were kneaded in the dung water until they became supple, but not too soft. The ancient tanner might use his bare feet to knead the skins in the dung water, and the kneading could last two or three hours. It was this combination of urine, animal feces and decaying flesh that made ancient tanneries so odiferous.” I’m quite happy with the way leather smells now.

14. I think you should pay them for the privilege Enjoy the break.
15. Yes, I couldn't quite tell if it was from a dealer or private, I lent towards private as I thought many dealers don't offer test rides to people with a CBT? (at least that's what I've heard) If dealer I've bought cars before where they've given me 7 days insurance as part of the sale, not sure if motorbike dealers ever do similar. True. I just assumed dealer had been missed off the second motorbike.
16. SometimesSansEngine If he is buying from a dealer a test ride would be on their insurance with the rider agreeing to an excess.
17. Knock the back wall out of the existing garage and extend.

20. Oops not good. Hope you make a speedy recovery.
21. This is true. Followed a friend of a friend on his gold wing. I was on my Kwai GT750. Could not get close to him half the time. This was mainly due to the amount of sparks and debris he was throwing up through grounding various bits a steelwork on the bends.
22. The Jag driver today who decided that the A38 turn right lane did not apply to him. We approached the island from the left A440 me in middle lane going straight on. Him in right hand lane. We get to the A440 exit and said a Jag decides he is going on the A440 as well. I think he got the message that he was in the wrong. Unfortunately Speedy23 does not have cameras on his bike. Might have made interesting viewing. 23. I made the same mistake That’s what the top box is for. To carry the alternative gloves.
24. Did Warmington Edgehill, Ettington and Stratford upon Avon yesterday with a stop off at the Touchdown cafe. Where the roads were sheltered, mainly Warmington and Edgehill, and under trees they were damp muddy and in some areas slippy. Take care and have fun.
25. If there are no SOLID white lines boardering the chevrons then you are allowed to be on them. However if anything happens while you are in the chevron area you could be deemed at fault. I will travel in the chevrons but I stay out of the turn boxes, unless I’m turning. Also be choosy on the chevron areas you use as this can be where all the road crud ends up.
