1. From my post lost in the server crash. DKW (Dampf-Kraft-Wagen, English: "steam-powered car", also Deutsche Kinder-Wagen English: "German kids' car". Das-Kleine-Wunder, English: "the little wonder" or Des-Knaben-Wunsch, English: "the boy's wish"- from when the company built toy 2-stroke engines) is a German car and motorcycle marque. The company and brand is one of the ancestor companies of the modern day Audi company as one of the four companies that formed Auto-Union.[2] This from Wikipedia. DKW was translated to many things.
2. No. If there is an easily accessible earth point near to the device use that. However in a lot of instances it is easier to go directly to the battery negative.
3. Have a look at this. It shows a relay circuit for heated grips but just replace the grips with “other things”. The relay is available from Halford or eBay or Amazon. https://www.themotorbikeforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=64954&hilit=Heated+grips The switch source is any live circuit with the ignition on. Most bikes that have the lights on with ignition could use the feed to the rear lamp. Just splice into the wire with a wire tap. Or scotch lock if you have to. HTH Any question just ask
4. This is really handy for finding neutral. At rest down to 1st then hook up and in neutral. Had kwacks for donkeys years. When I changed to a Suzi had hell of a job finding neutral for a while.

Which bugger you going to shoot? No one on here I hope.
6. But this is more practical
7. Also the rotor relied on tips to seal against the “cylinder” as opposed to valves and unfortunately these tips wore and so there was a loss of compression. A very smooth and powerful engine but lots of maintenance required.

as Via says With noting that there is a lock nut on the adjusters that needs loosening. So my order of operation is Undo axel bolts Undo locknuts. Turn the adjusters 1 flat at a time on each side. Check chain tension. Repeat as necessary When tension correct Tighten locknuts tighten axel to correct torque Recheck tension If ok all is good if not redo as above HTH
9. Slowlycatchymonkey fraid you are going to have to post you latest pics again re Haynes motor museum, and the museum piccies. Liked the DKW. Pity we lost the replies to the steam drives.
10. ABBA stand is better in some jobs, paddocks for others. Rear paddock ok if you have bobbins not if you use the stand with cups. Got my ABBA for the GPX after the rear stand slipped a couple of time while getting the rear wheel out. Also use the ABBA when working on the front when I need the wheel off the ground and be able to move the steering.
11. Or this

16. Is that a dry battery with a container of acid for you to use to fill the battery. Thought acid was not to be supplied loose any more.

18. Not easy to see but in the first picture do both of the brushes touch the copper commutator. Are both brushes free to move in the holders because in pictures 6&8 the one brush appears shorter than the other. Also the commutator looks as thought there has been some arcing which could be caused by a brush not being pressed hard onto the copper. Also check the springs are free to push the brushes.
19. Well done. It's a knack to get everything lined up at first.
20. can you take a photo of the problem area?
