  1. I fitted Michelin PR3's a couple of months ago in prepartion for the winter. Previously i had Bridgestone Battlaxs which were coming to the end of their life. I commute all year round so wanted something that will perform in dry and wet situations. Not qualms so far.
  2. 'Shouldn't' be that complicated but i managed to make a complete hash of it.
  3. Ah I see, thanks. I was hoping I could just put some around the nut and washer without removing it . Taking the nut off would mean draining the sump again so also worried that the nut might not tightened next time around. Need the bike for work this week so reluctant to do it today. Just checked and still no drips from the nut.
  4. Thanks Fastbob. I have taken it out on a short run. I wiped round the sump nut when engine is hot with some blue roll and there was a very small (tiny) amount of oil residue. Certainly not a drip. I have got some RTV Silicone just in case I need it......just need to know how I use it now
  5. Will keep an eye on it. Did you find a permanent fix??
  6. Wouldn't I need one for a Yahama FZ6 though? Geniune question, I'm not trying to be funny.
  7. Would refitting a sump require removal of the exhaust running under it? That would be a PITA I imagine
  8. Thanks for all the input so far, very helpful as always I tempted to leave it and see how it goes before I start buying helicoils, tap wrenchs etc. Have been looking on youtube though, seem like a handy bit of kit to have.
  9. You have had the same issue?? I cracked my sump and stripped the thread a little. Check for cracks and put the plug back in with some RTV silicone and you should be ok. No cracks in sump as far as I can see, plug and washer is already back in and 3 litres of new oil. I didn't think to use any silicone though.
  10. It's metal pieces Right, ill go with part of a Helicoil as well then. How about an extreme close up ? Best I can do with my lousy camera phone and poor photography skills
  11. Instead of retapping a thread you make it slightly larger and thread this in as a new original sized thread If not fully/ correctly inserted they can break off the end but the main section remains hence it tightens The nut is on tight now with no leakage but this looks like a fix going forward. Is it difficult to do?
  12. Hold on a minute, what's this thing made of ? It's white right ? So is it metal or plastic? It's metal pieces
  13. I think it's stripped although nut still tightened. so the last time it was tightened it must have stripped??
  14. When I loosened off the sump nut these bits fell out with the washer in the drip pan. It looks like thread from the sump. I have put new oil in and the washer and nut has tightened ok. I have had the bike running so it's hot and there is no leakage. Not been out for a run on it yet though. Not sure why/how this has happened.
  15. Left hand grip started slipping and rotating yesterday so I've superglued it in place. It's stuck solid for now, if its comes loose again i'm Araldite(ing) the t**t. Will tackle throttle side with some WD at the weekend, see if I can back it off the throttle grip and start over.
  16. ok I'm going to give it another try after work tomorrow. see if I can create a bit more of a gap to get some wd40 in there. the new one wont be delivered before next weekend anyway so will hold off ordering just yet. Just have to ride this week with an uneven wonky grip.
  17. Over a week for a replacement to be delivered too. I'm far too impatient for that!!
  18. I tried the mallet but that just bent up the end, which also means I cant a wd40 straw in there. it doesn't want to budge either way.
  19. Well you called it!! I just used tape but right handgrip is stuck about 3/4 of the way along the bar. Can't shift it either way now. Looks like I'm going to have to cut it off order a new grip and start over. At least the relay works fine
  20. I have given it one wrap so far and its much tighter, I think one more wrap will possibly be too tight though. Never imagined it would be such a faff.
