  1. But other way round for me, my 125 has one but training school bike for DAS didn't, was worried as I'd got into habit of checking it before a corner but didn't miss it at all and I was not looking at clocks coming up to a corner instead of the road
  2. That's one lovely shed! Got me wanting one again now, really need (want) one as a workshop as no powered garage (and getting power to garage is a bigger mission). Trouble is planning on moving in foreseeable future so trying to be patient and wait but struggling

    A272 Wrecked !

Lorries are a pain in the ass but at the same time critical to the infrastructure of any developed country. You said there is no alternative so what is the desired outcome? The sand is transported by van instead? This would result in 10x amount of vans on the road instead (plus totally unrealistic). Why is the sand being excavated? This is likely a huge cost operation and I doubt council are doing it for fun. I get everyone has enjoyments and these are sometimes spoiled by external bodies but what is spoiling your ride may have large benefits to other people, is the sand being used to build houses, will it be used for improving beaches, etc... Not picking on this directly but seems to be a raise in people complaining about what affects their little bubble, neighbors here have complained about costs of housing and no affordable properties for their family looking to move nearby. At the same time I've had 2 requests in a month to sign petition to block 2 different affordable housing developments... People moan about roadworks yet then complain that a road needs to be repaired... Personally I get more enjoyment out of life just sitting back and not giving a shit about minor inconveniences.
  4. Too right, always found working on cars absolutely exhausting especially when bad weather hit but at same time was relaxing and loved every job I did especially when you get to end result. Same as doing up the ER5, even though it's sitting unloved in the garage been in there a few times recently and still have a cheeky smile to myself at how it looks now.
  5. Could have just been bad earth connection if you've had to tighten terminals. See how it goes first.
  6. The MOD1 test centre surface is very grippy, much better than any road but as such they still expect an effort on emergency stop (think someone on here was failed for being over cautious on emergency stop in the wet) but in general their expectations of emergency stop are more reaction and keeping control than stopping on a sixpence. In general so not underestimate the need of wet weather clothing, getting caught out in the rain when walking is an inconvenience, on a bike it hurts! I got caught out once and never again, heavy rain at 40mph felt like hail stones
  7. What they trying to use? From what you've said it sounds like their liability and they know that hence clutching at straws. Don't let them get to you!

    Stuck Brake Piston

In absence of those I used some 90° circlip pliers (squeeze to open) with some electrical wrapped around prongs to do ones on ER5 (made same mistake )
  9. Also don't expect metal sheds to be more secure just because they are metal, the cheap ones are very thin. A friend had metal shed with garage style locking bars securing door which gave impression of being secure until he lost key, took a couple of minutes cutting two 1 inch holes in door where the locking bars are with a leatherman and could then just pull bars to open door.
  10. Daps ?? Sannies up here when I was school age (or sand shoes if you were posh). And we were too poor to have draw string bags. Everything for school went in the old gas mask bag (from WW2). What is this fascination with calling objects names of bread related objects? Sannies are what you eat at lunch time.
  11. Also in regards to insurance and liability, someone waving is not a recognised hand signal in highway code, having no lights on trailer is probably bad enough but having someone controlling traffic by waving Glad it's done, I hated wound cleaning, they had to do mine a bit before hospital to get some muck out and again after surgery (glad most of it was done when I as knocked out) as despite seeing them using nice soft clean cloths doused with water it felt like they were taking a scouring pad to my leg.
  12. Sounds like a good idea, you should also do an OS/2 warp version for PC users.
  13. Which is also why my wife, who I have now known for over half of my life, has just admitted to me that she never had a dap bag for PE I DON'T KNOW WHO SHE IS ANYMORE And we now know who the intelligent one in that relationship is Personally I just had a PE bag which contained my PE kit and plimsoles. Dap bag is what you call someone who offends you when children are in earshot.
  14. Not quite, my CEO still has one. As an ex-Microsoft employee, he refers to it as 'drinking the kool aid' But even bill gates admitted he has android phone
  15. That was my thought only 'babby' which is what someone that can't spell calls a baby.
  16. Sad day for Microsoft as they lose their final Windows mobile user. Tbh didn't see much change from nougat to Oreo anyway, some better multi app support but on a phone it don't get used much. Any particular reason you are going for moto G5?

    Advice on Paint

Could be a quick way of painting though, aim bung at object you want to paint then heat can with blow torch until painted
  18. Make sure you complain about every little injury, when I was in all hospital cared about was obvious leg injury, I didn't bring up minor aches and pains elsewhere at the time but some of these have gone on to be more severe now and having to go through referrals via GP which takes forever, wish I complained more while at hospital and would had been more likely diagnosed and sorted earlier.
  19. I hope not too, have to have surgery tomorrow but all should be well, thank you! Good to hear Make the most of your NI payments and take it easy, what are they doing?

    Advice on Paint

Will take a lot longer to cure when cold so give it a lot of time, made mistake of rushing when I did ER5 rebuild with tank and ended up taking a massive lump of paint off with a decal which ended up loads more work for the sake of waiting a few more days. Seen these paint on your drive type people curing paint with heat gun before but would be a very fine line between curing and destroying paint. Also for future found best way to heat a rattle can is to put in a bucket of hot water for a few minutes before painting.
  21. Tbh found nothing hard about it in the end, instructor deliberately put cones closer together in training so when it came to day course felt massive. But what can only be nerves I put foot down on U-Turn (twice) which in practice I nailed every time, rest of test was perfect minus a dip on speed trap for swerve but 2nd run was fine. Never got to final retest, decided to have a week fully inclusive holiday instead courtesy of the NHS after a quick practice session before hand still not fit enough to ride. But on the day mod 2 never entered my mind, didn't really get chance to think about anything other than what I was doing at the time.
  22. Mine did same way, they have lot of success that way but you are at risk of having to pay for a mod 2 you can't do if you fail mod 1. Despite my disastrous attempts at mod 1 I preferred the training this way as mod 1 practice was a few hours inbetween riding around, instructor said when he tried doing a full day mod 1 practice people would just get wound up and end up worse off, mod 1 is very technical and takes a lot of concentration, that split with going for a joy ride made it less of a chore.
