    Smart home

Do agree with this in regards to social media in a way, I remember when you wouldn't ever give your really name out on the internet certainly not amount of information available on social media now. And the amount of idiots as well, people where I work have been fired after calling in sick on new years eve to then put pictures of them in pub on Facebook personally I think they deserve what they get.

Yes, but just to point out the obvious 'just in case'... There will be another one on the other side of swing arm, both need to be adjusted together (normally marks on swing arm to match both), otherwise you'll end up with a wonky wheel.

    Smart home

had people saying this seriously and so far I can confirm no one from GCHQ has contacted me yet to find out if my dog is actually a good boy (that's about the highlight of my verbal communication ). Dunno about saving money tbh as you're right bulb cost was extortionate, but could possibly in long run as now if I sit down to watch TV and realise I left hall light on I can turn off via Alexa or mobile app, before I'd think f**k it I can't be bothered to get up Smart sockets more likely as I can plug TV, amp and other boxes into one socket and when turned off that uses tiny amount of electric to listen for wake up, so effectively one device on standby as opposed to multiple devices. But I got them as I'm lazy not to save money

    Smart home

Anyone got any smart home stuff? Got myself an echo plus at start of December, had been thinking about getting one before and never bothered but got a good deal through work. Totally hooked now and since bought 2 echo dots and a normal echo so got one in every room (minus bathroom) have also got hue ambience lights in front room, hallways and bedroom (kitchen will be more expensive to replace as need 8 GU10 bulbs to do that) along with a few of the hue dimmer switches for living room and hallways. To top it off a few smart plugs for TVs (plug in between mains and plug to act as a smart relay). Now I know a light switch isn't exactly hard work but makes everything so much easier, phone app uses location so if I come home after sunset living room lights turn on automatically for me, can connect multiple lights and rooms to one switch and will turn all on or off, my living room has 2 lights on single switch either side of the room, can turn both on now with one press (or press power button more times to cycle through 5 different presets). And best of all I can get in bed now with lights on and just say Alexa goodnight, she will tell me anything I've got on calendar tomorrow, read the news and weather then turn off all lights and TV without me having to get up (got to think of my gammy leg).
  5. Learn to play in these, rated up to 1kV so you'll be fine
  6. Tesco used to offer double discount if scan price didn't match ticket price, but they lost a fair bit by people taking advantage of discounts that hadn't been marked up as they didn't specify if it cost more only if different... So £2 price tag pack of bacon which was discounted to £1 ended up with them giving you £2 back (or effectively giving you £1 to buy their bacon). Funnily enough they don't seem to offer that anymore .
  7. What about having a game of chequers at home with a beer?
  8. Middle lane is just as bad, going to and from Wales most of it in left lane with occasional overtake but so annoying when I'm sitting in left lane with cruise control on at 70 (I was being economical ) and someone sitting in middle lane at 65 so I've either got to undertake them or go all the way out to outside lane to get round them. Nothing more than laziness because they don't want to have to pull out to overtake a lorry or let traffic in from a slip road, which then makes it another ball ache when you're in left lane and want to move out and there's a queue of traffic in middle lane.

  11. Sorry if it's not on the map I don't understand, Is this what they mean by the north south divide I think your being northernist #metoo I think it's so you don't have an unfair advantage, you could happily visit any other area but those living elsewhere don't want to visit the north east.
  12. Looks awesome! Don't want to tempt fate and grab a number early this year

  14. I've also got a strange feeling about a certain member at the moment, that their longevity might be limited. Have you rounded up enough dosh yet to pay me to ban @Hoggs? Is there a just giving page?
  15. Everyone should have a project bike, lot of sweat and tears along the way but nothing compares to the first time it rolls out of garage completed and the "I did that" feeling
  16. Would like to thank Stu and the mods... But let's face it you've not done much this year
