    clutch plates

Over enthusiastic riding, or badly adjusted? What are the symptoms? Just started slipping under load in 4th and 5th . As soon as I felt it slip I backed off the power so I'm not sure if what you see is the result of slipping or the cause .

Thanks for all the replies . What you are looking at is my EBC SRK complete clutch kit that has only been in my GSXR 1100 for a year , that is to say two summers . Initially I was in denial because I just couldn't accept that I'd payed £180 for supposedly the top of the EBC range and this has happened. I have not raced , dragged or wheelied the bike and I have not scrimped on oil either . Needless to say I'm baffled and very disappointed.

You’ve been dicking about doing clutch up wheelies and drag strip launches ......... maybe If only that were true .

That's straight to the point ! Would you care to elaborate ?

Anyone care to comment on the condition of this clutch based purely on what you can see in this photo?
  6. Oh come on , you need to give us much more to go on than that . Have a look at the Please read before posting bit , which includes a link to an excellent online repair course , and we will try to help you. What things have you checked and eliminated so far ? I.e fuel , air , spark . Welcome to the forum .
  7. Ah... Killswitch Syndrome When I worked in a bike shop an overweight bloke arrived just about ready to drop from exhaustion having pushed a 600 Bandit about half a mile . It took a lot of effort not to be smug when I flicked the kill switch and started it . Poor sod had knocked it with his glove . We made him a cup of tea.
  8. Glad it was a false alarm , it always pays to go for the cheap solution first. Last year was convinced my gearbox was shot on some grim and lonely road in the Scottish Boarders . I stopped and stripped out my clutch but found nothing , then I spotted it . It was a loose sprocket nut clipping the plastic chain guard ! I could've fixed it in seconds if only I had thought logically instead of fearing the worst.
  9. Right right ..... Got you , its the mutilation of perfectly good bikes that you don't like . I do know what you mean and it has to be said that there are many shocking attempts at customization that are enough to make you weep . Just occasionally there are some really good ones though . Keep an eye out for a black CG café racer in Stratford upon Avon, for a young lad's first attempt it does have a certain charm . Coincidently, my first bike was a CB175 but my kick start shaft was sheared clean off so I had to rely on the starter motor . Sorry for the misunderstanding, if you take another look at the pic you will notice that a hole appears to have already been dug to bury the bike in question but I still like it. Say hello if you see me in SOA or the surrounding roads as this is also my favorite playground, red GSXR 1100 WP or red ER5.
  10. I would've thought a CG was an excellent choice for a first foray into skip filling. Though I hesitate to say it........."fixed it for you"... Id rather you expanded upon your reasons for not liking CG 125s instead of altering my words to suit your own viewpoint. I have bought and restored eight of these very basic little motorbikes and in doing so I have developed a great admiration verging on affection for their simple yet robust construction. The fact that millions of Chinese clones are still based on this 1976 Honda design is a testament to durability of its no frills push rod operated engine . CGs may not be big , expensive, or glamourous but , like the C90, they still have their place in the motorcycling world .
  11. 1. Therein lies the clue..... 2. You wot? A CG125 bobber? Was this bloke some kind of "care in the community" candidate? Blimey, I've heard it all now........ I would've thought a CG was an excellent choice for a first foray into custom bike building.
  12. Hi , my write up is in the thread Scotland no Motorways also in this section , see #20 . Best trip I've done in years mainly because I was on an ordinary 500cc bike ( ER5 ) that I bought for £500 and did up with some cheap panniers and a bag lashed on the back . I had to smile at all the clones on their GS's laden with tin boxes . No idea what gear they carry because they all seem to stay in B&B .
  13. Hi James II. Welcome in! Before anyone says it (cos someone will I am sure...), I might as well add that I think fastbob's trip was last summer; he had a great time of it, I seem to remember. While you're here, why not pop over to the intros section and introduce yourself? Geoff I certainly did!
  14. Zoom in on picture on top of swingarm Well spotted Oh THAT loose bolt ! So that's where it went , I think that's one that attaches the battery box to the frame. I probably replaced it with an Allen bolt anyway .
  15. I don't have any loose bolts , well I hope not ! If you mean what bike is it , its my 93 Gixer 1100 .
  16. Not a chance ! I paid £30 for this ( GSXR 1000 ) and its ace . Of course there are good secondhand items available but my point being is if your going to spend £200 ish on refurbing a standard shock its possibly better spending on a New unit which until it arrives you can still use the bike quite agree , but £125 for something sprayed black to make it look good seems a bit cheeky .
  17. What's the loose bolt from btw ? Forgive me , what does btw mean?
  18. If the rod is sprayed black .. is it going to travel freely? If your going to spend £125 + postage and more than likely another £80 on the pitted piston ( never had one refurbed that didn't need it funnily enough ) Get a quote from hagon or such like for a new one. And if you sell the bike you can put old one back on and sell the hagon or similar separately and recoup some back Not a chance ! I paid £30 for this ( GSXR 1000 ) and its ace .
  19. I've also fitted heated seats on the Busa Bob Ah well , now you're talking!
  20. Never seen the point of heating the palms of my hands when my arse is freezing off .
  21. Awesome pic Lovely picture but how ( why ) did you get it there ? The roads must have been well dodgy that day .
  22. Hi, you can post images on here directly from your phone , go to attachments then add files .

    ybr model?

A stator is the fixed part of an alternator ( generator ) as opposed to a rotor which is the moving part .
