  1. You can't go wrong with a Shoei , good choice.
  2. I was thinking the very same thing , I would have thought that a light honeing of the bores was worth considering having come this far . Again , sorry if I missed something as well .
  3. Thank you, I could not agree more.
  4. Morning, could I thoroughly recommend this excellent engine paint, sticks to anything except a certain brand of aftershave.
  5. Newbob IS the original poster . You're quoting the original post then contradicting it . This is becoming a truly tiresome thread . He just had a knock from behind and was a bit worried about it . Most of the energy would be absorbed by the tyre , this has happened to me a few times over the years , just give the wheel bearings a shake , ride on and forget about it . I presume the bike was ridden home anyway. Errr.....sorry, but yes, I knew who the OP was - the original post DOES mention the "1ft ish not much more" so how am I contradicting the original post? Please? Because you have taken " 1 ft ish not much more " in quotation marks and changed it to " a foot or so " and described this as the OPs own statement.
  6. I still don't get why you can't just post some pics and a description on this forum .
  7. Maybe it was all only a dream ?
  8. Sorry, but it was "a foot or so" by the OP's own statement and anything that will move a bike a foot when your foot is on the brake can definitely be classed as an "impact". Just sayin', ya know? Newbob IS the original poster . You're quoting the original post then contradicting it . This is becoming a truly tiresome thread . 9. Absolutely right, every moving part should essentially be primed with fresh engine oil . Surely you haven't assembled the engine using nothing but WD40 ?
  10. Pump out the pistons , remove seals , carefully scrape out the crap from the grooves , reassemble, fill , bleed . You'll be astonished at the difference this can make .
  11. So ... This is where the WD40 " debate " originated ! Clean the contacts with contact cleaner not some greasy household lubricant that was designed ( after 39 failed attempts ) as a Water Dispersant . Alternatively use methylated spirit and very fine emery paper. I have an ER5 and it sounds like a faulty side stand switch to me but it might be the switch itself rather than the connection. Another thing to check is the clutch lock-out switch of course. Good luck!
  12. " slightly greasy stuff that smells pleasant and comes in a tin " exactly!
  13. You haven't got time for that, get your thermals on and get back in that shed before you forget how all those bits go back together.
  14. Know what you mean , I used to ride in a leather jacket and a Who t-shirt which seemed to puzzle people. I always found Motorhead too repetitive .
  15. Let's see a picture of this thing , why should the HA get all the laughs ( if they even notice )
  16. That's reassuring Mate, you need one thing and one thing only to " show your culture " as a biker/motorcyclist and that is a MOTORBIKE ! Instead of dressing up like one of these vicious morons why don't you keep your money in the bank until you have enough to buy a Harley. Then you can ask them if you can become a prospect . Good luck !
  17. I got some muc off equivalent once (cheap and why not) that smelt really nice! Much better than WD40 (and it came out like a luminous purple colour). Thank you for that interesting contribution to the great Corned Beef debate .
  18. I've seen a lot of this Surface Dressing technique used recently including the busy road that I live on . It looks like a cheap quick fix to me . I have also seen this in remote areas of Scotland where it has worn away to reveal the original road surface complete with road markings underneath . Oddly enough the original surface appears to be in better condition than the thin layer on top .
  19. In urban areas particularly its not the actual roads that are the problem, its the numerous filled in trenches and holes left by cable and utilities companies that actually turn into pot holes . Surely these companies could easily be tracked down and made to come back and do the job properly. If they dig up the road to install broadband cable etc they should be compelled by law to replace the road surface to the same standard of construction that it was originally built to . Simply bunging the dirt back in and sticking an inferior layer of tarmac on top just won't survive the volume of traffic it has to carry. Have a look at the roads where you live and perhaps you will notice the same thing.
  20. What debate ? The OP was just a big free advert for Halfords. The reason WD40 is so versatile is because its so non specific . It's just some slightly greasy stuff that smells pleasant and comes in a tin . If you want to oil something, put some oil on it . If you want to polish something, get some polish . If you want to clean an electrical contact use some meths and fine emery paper . WD40 just attracts dirt . As for all these spin off variety's this is just lazy marketing . This nonsense all began when Persil introduced washing up liquid and Mars drinks and ice cream appeared. Chilli flavoured corned beef, now that's another story. Mix a tin of this with a tin of beans , heat and in less than two minutes you have a reasonable approximation of Chilli con carne , ideal for campers in a hurry.
  21. Eh ? Another inexplicable comment . I'm still puzzled by the one about Jim Bowen leaving Pan's People in the General section .
  22. A good whacking with a rubber mallet sometimes works .
