  1. Sorry mate, too far , if its been standing the drum is probably distorted by now, apparently rust seeps inbetween the ally and the steel. Thanks anyway.
  2. Where in the Uk are you? I could use the rear wheel provided the brake drum hasn't gone oval shaped . What's the tyre like ?
  3. Here's another pic http://i.imgur.com/vvrHXV8.png
  4. I believe we have chatted about this previously in another thread (good breakers) nice to hear from you again. Your enormous mileage is a source of great comfort to me! Re oil , its changed too often to run low but I'll keep an eye it. All the best!
  5. Thanks! It's done 35000 , 31000 by me . It's a 93 bike but it had only done 4000 when I bought it in 2006. It had been stored by the original buyer for 8 yrs with 27 miles on it . The second owner never took it over 100 mph ( he said) So when I got it it even smelled new. I only ride it 6 months a year. Mods include Dynojet,4 into 1 pipe, K&N and braided brake lines.
  6. First owner stored it 8 yrs so its only been on the road 17 years http://i.imgur.com/2Aqzg3a.jpg
  7. So far nobody has recommended an upgrade.
  8. Nice. Tasteful modifications enhance the looks. Longer swingarms and monster tyres make 'busas look silly and ugly I think. Yours looks great.
  9. I saw a feature on a flat tracker that had a ceramic coated exhaust, looked great. It was i metallic silver too , probably wasn't cheap .
  10. You can ride in bus lanes in Swindon too, takes a bit of getting used to. Need to watch out for buses .
  11. Forward controls can't be helping if you're not used to them. If you are going to sell it I wouldn't hang around because these bikes rust and rot fast.
  12. i am so nervous of getting on abike but i will do it i love bikes this message will help me to build my confidence up were you hurt and thankyou No I wasn't hurt too bad,it was such a cold day that I was wearing so much clothing I must have bounced. I did rip open the sleeve of a very nice sheepskin flying jacket though. Ideally I should have been wearing my armoured textile jacket but I've been on a diet and its like a tent on me now.I think I will always try to wear full armoured leathers this summer as this is a good confidence booster in itself.
  13. I know what you mean, I've been riding 35 years and I had a prang around Christmas time. My own fault if I'm honest, wasn't paying attention and on an unfamiliar bike with shit brakes. My confidence has taken a big knock but I just take things one ride at a time in the knowledge that I'll eventually get back to a place where I'm actually a better rider than I was before it happened. There's no need to feel pressured, we all evolve at our own pace. Good luck!
  14. Might be a blown bulb, some bikes with simple wiring will do this. Also your bike might be the same as a Regal Raptor twin. AJS is just a name borrowed from an old British bike manufacturer ( holder of 117 world records )
  15. What about taking the sprocket off? How did it get jammed in the first place?
  16. On a more helpful note it sounds like the battery is low on power. The noise is probably the starter relay (solenoid) buzzing instead of making a circuit. When the battery gets worse it will just click and when the battery is really dead it wont do anything at all. Are the lights dimming when this happens?
  17. Welcome to the forum, I think the wet farming noise could be a cow farting. Sorry!
  18. Lack of oil is not good for an engine I hasten to add it was serviced regularly and no expense was spared as one of the perks of being in the trade and having my own bike business at the time was I had full time staff to maintain it and everything was cost price but went through the business. It was on 140,000 miles and as you know it has a sight glass for checking the engine oil level rather than a dip stick. It looked fine, but it transpired that the sight glass had become stained and looked like it had the right oil quantity. No engine oil + a high speed run + a dodgy sight glass = blown engine. Replacement engine went in and was good for another 25,000 miles before it got sold for the first Blackbird in 96. Wow , that's cheered me up,140,000 miles means mines' barely run in by comparison . How on earth did you find the time to clock 165,000 miles in only 3 years?
  19. The best breakers is the one that has exactly what you want at the best price so in other words start your search by using Google and just go with the flow.Nearly all of them are on EBay so you shouldn't have any hassle . I've bought a lot of stuff recently including some replica parts direct from China and I've got no complaints.
  20. Just out of interest, what went wrong with the original WP engine? Mine's at 34000m and I've had it from 4000m ,nothings gone wrong yet. My GSXR 1100L was going strong at about 80000m when I flogged it so here's hoping.
  21. Must agree about alarms,I once saw on TV a Ducati being manhandled into a refrigerated lorry which was sound proofed by the insulation .All in daylight in a busy London street and nobody took any notice. Get a big chain.

    Oh dear!

Oh bad luck,we had these knuckle dragging fat old skinheads in Coventry last year, absolute hate filled morons. There's so few of them but the police bill must be colossal.Congratulations on the marriage though.
  23. I would begin by checking and returning every setting to standard including needle height and pilot air screw turns out.I see there's a position sensor as well , is it properly connected? Have you remembered the fuel tap vacuum pipe? If you're going to be fiddling, making notes is a good idea.Good luck!
  24. I reckon if you advertised it as "Ideal cafe racer project" you would do alright given the number of bikes from the 70s and 80s that are being devoured by this current craze.
