  1. Going back to the beginning . What actually prevented the removal of the oil filter ? Did you unscrew it as far as possible only to find that it hit the exhaust down pipe ? I'm just curious because in the original photos it looks as if it might still be removable . The 147 filter is a particularly short and stubby design to accommodate the oil cooler take off fitting that looks like a designers afterthought to my cynical eyes .
  2. Glad that's settled . Right , I'm off to the shed to do some final fettling on the Triumph.
  3. And I would buy with confidence in the knowledge that I am protected up to the hilt .
  4. Which is exactly why I suggested that he requested much more information and more photos .
  5. There's this one but I would want a lot more information and pictures before buying . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133426632168
  6. I know , I just realized . It was such a bargain I didn't notice it was a 1000 . Sorry .
  7. I'm not taking the piss but if you've struck oil it's time to be looking for a new cylinder head . I'd grab this one with both hands and quickly . You won't find many with matching camshafts still installed . It's got 8 good exhaust studs too . Offer £180 and they might accept . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/391236516953
  8. Original as far as I know . My bike has clearly never seen salt .
  9. Glad I've got a Harley .
  10. Oh yes ! https://youtu.be/hU7iZ3tRgWo
  11. Sorry . That was the wrong one . https://youtu.be/u7XEjl5GNS8
  12. F**k it ! https://youtu.be/bPVvyUJDpB8
  13. I was a Lift Truck instructor once , so yes .
  14. I wonder why you people ride motorbikes sometimes .
  15. It's the start of a new one that I don't like and I will not be persuaded otherwise .
  16. There is no bright side .
  17. Sad and depressing news that JLR is to cease production of cars with engines in favour of cars with electric motors .
  18. Superdream , no chance , it's a structural member . CMX250 , maybe but you're going to need carbs , a CDI unit , and the exhaust system ( possibly ) So why not just buy the bike ? Better still , if this is your preferred style of bike , why not quit playing with toys and just get a bank loan to buy a Sportster ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/164693961229
  19. We've got this little chap whom I'm guessing has OCD who keeps the road I live in AND everyone's front garden completely free from litter . I don't even think he lives in the area . In fact I think he does it along his route home from work . He even straightens the Wheely Bins . So I guess the World has gone mad but sometimes that's not a bad thing .
  20. So that's more or less it then . Just done a last nut and bolt check , zip tied a few untidy wires and given it a wipe with an oily rag . I think I'll have a cautious little TRUNDLE round the block on it before it's nothing but a memory and a load of oil stains on the garage floor .
  21. No such refinements on a carburettor bike .
  22. Dosen't really matter . It's just to hold them in place when you're lining everything up and trying to juggle several things at once .
  23. Copper ones are best . Gouge out the old ones with a screwdriver and bung the new ones in with a good dollop of silicone sealer a day before you fit the exhaust .
  24. Here we go then chaps , one healthy Triumph 3TA chugging away nicely . No oil or fuel leaks ( not from the bits I did anyway )
