  1. Googled an O2 coverage map prior to going on holiday . The map was a picture rather than being interactive which , in hindsight , was a clue . Five minutes later I've apparently not paid my bill despite being a Tescomobile customer . Anyone had spam calls from the picturesque village of Lairg in Scotland ?
  2. Try to watch or listen to the entire YouTube content featuring the wonderful Mr Karl Pilkington who , in case you didn't know , has a head like a f*****g orange ! And if you need cheering up on a weekly basis there's always Robert and Toyah's Sunday Lunch . Last week's offering had a couple of outstanding features . https://youtu.be/JdvGo7DsFbQ
  3. Heh heh heh . Still plenty of work to do . They may be minimalist but I'm still trying to fathom the electrics . Positive Earth , WTF is that all about ?
  4. I couldn't actually figure out if you were for or against . Might be an autocorrect glitch . Anyway you are obviously in favour . High mileage is not an issue on a CG because there are as many moving parts as half a Harley so that's about seven .
  5. No worries , you can bolt a barrel and piston on to a CG in a couple of hours . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383367302583
  6. Here you go . This is a bit more like it , especially if you can get two bikes out of it . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324443648786
  7. You misunderstand Sir . I wanted a Sportster anyway . The fact that I'm not losing money is purely a happy coincidence .
  8. One consideration when buying a bike is how well it will hold its value . That's the beauty of having a Sportster . The lowest price is seemingly fixed at £3500 and the average price is around £4500 . However , with the announcement that the Sportster is to be finally discontinued , prices can only start to climb . And if you happen to have a desirable model from the first year of production that is relatively unmodified then it gets even better . So my two year quest is paying off already .
  9. That's one thing I don't miss about the GSXR , dropping fasteners into the depths of the bike for them never to return . No plastics on a Harley , all bike and all made of metal .
  10. Some days you just have to walk away . .
  11. My GSXR had left to right adjuster screws .
  12. I'm inclined to agree . If you go to the area around Abergwesyn Pass in Wales you'll see dozens of these leviathans wobbling around filming each other . Same in Scotland , convoys of the things blocking the road with their big tin boxes . No doubt some will disagree but unless you are on a transcontinental trip there's no need for these monstrosities . Any comfortable bike and a few bungees and you're good to go .

  14. My bikes are getting narrower . Apart from the footpegs , the Sportster practically disappears when viewed head on . This is actually quite disconcerting when you first sit on a Harley . Of course when I stick some panniers on it it instantly becomes a Bagger ( Or Bugger as some would have it )
  15. The furthest I filtered for was around 18 miles on the M5 near Bristol . The nearer I got to the front , the more people had got out of their cars and started walking around , and even walking their dogs . The accident at the front of the queue was quite bizarre . Somehow or other , a small car had hit the guard rail around a road sign , launched into the air and landed on the back of a flatbed truck loaded with plasterboard . The plasterboard had exploded like a bomb all over the place and caused a few other minor collisions . Well that was my interpretation as I went past .
  16. I was there . https://www.lpmcc.net/runs/runs_mag.htm
  17. Buggered if I know .
  18. Here are some motorbikes .
  19. By a huge amount . Not only that , the gas cannister fits inside it and the stove sits on top of that along with a cigarette lighter and the NON SCRATCH plastic cutlery fits down the side and stops the whole thing rattling . ( Which is where the whole plastic cutlery shitstorm started in the first place . )
  20. I think I might be confused here . My idea of a Jetboil is the deep pot in the picture . It has a finned heat exchanger on the bottom ( like a radiator in reverse ) It will boil water in around one minute on any decent gas stove .
  21. I just couldn't stand the sight of the horn painted in blue Hammerite so I tidied it up a bit . Not in the brief but that's another winter evening consigned to the past .
  22. I make an excellent Chow Mein myself in the comfort of my own kitchen . But when I've ridden 300+ miles and there isn't a chip shop in sight and I've just put up my tent in the pissing rain while being bitten to f*** by a cloud of Midges , the idea of some semblance of a hot meal prepared in minutes has a strong appeal . And while we're at it ,yes , I do cook inside my tent when it's raining and I don't set myself on fire because I have skill and judgment combined with reasonably good hand - eye coordination .
  23. Pleased to meet you , hope you guessed my name ......
