If the bolts are all M6 X 25 you can get a whole bag of them from Toolstation for a few quid .

All set up for another attempt at getting it running and keeping it running .

I would imagine that the exhaust would need to come off . As for what's involved , a new sump and gasket and a lot of lying on your back remembering which way to turn a bolt that's upside down while watching the blood oose from your frozen knuckles .

Don't despair . As has been pointed out , you have an Oil Pan or Sump Plate so the whole engine isn't knackered . You've probably knocked one of those protrusions off . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/311808447928

I've had a hell of a job eliminating all the leaks from the Amal Monoblock carburettor . Looking at it , it occurs to me that it was never a very good design . Look at that ridiculously thin jointing surface on the Float Chamber . That's just asking for trouble . Given that they are still making them , it baffles me that they don't add a few improvements that retain the same external appearance for the Restoration Brigade .

It's alive ! I've had it running for a couple of minutes . Of course as soon as I set up my camera it refused to start . The owner and his brother are coming round later so any chances of a repeat performance are practically nil . Everybody knows that a Kickstarter bike cannot be started when someone is watching .

8mm surely . I've never seen 6 mm exhaust studs .

Studs with brass nuts is a very common practice on all vehicles . As stated , the soft brass will give way before the stud snaps .

I do the final flatting with 2500 grit and then do a few passes with G3 restoring compound on a cloth followed by a wipe over with a good Carnauba wax . Although I'm no expert I've been delighted with the results .
