  1. ratser the traffic police down here dont mind dark visors but they are not to keen on iridium or mirrored ones for some strange reason just a little tip for the next time you come down this way Thanks Daz, will keep it in mind.
  2. Recently bought a dark and gold mirrored visor. Wore the dark on Sunday and passed many cop cars who didn't stop me. I was carrying a clear one as well. My neighbour was wearing an iridium one, and when we came up to cop cars he flipped his visor up
  3. I was pretty much following that R1 (when possible), but basically out of that tea room to the right, down to a very very sharp left (almost doubling back on yourself), then a mega twisty round the side of the hills (in a valley), twisty road across nowhere really heading towards the A74 way. We had came down via Strathaven and Darvel way. Sorry, not the best description, and I don't know road numbers. Was a good wee run anyway.
  4. I used to practise loads on my U turn after failing my first test only on that part. I used to do about 10, then scoot off and do some figure 8's, then come back and do another 10, then scoot off again down and round a few roundabouts, then back and do another 10. It also stopped me getting angry with myself if I didn't do it properly. Was also important to practise it as you do on the test, i.e. switch off and get off, walk the bike round then get back on, start and do the u turn. I sometimes found that it was harder doing that than just having been sitting on the bike all the time.
  5. I have a polar buff, which has a fleecy neck section and normal head section. Have found it excellent. I also have just a normal one for when the warmer weather comes in (and not soon enough bbrrrrrr ) I got them from buffwear.com
  6. It is indeed mate. If I had known I would be down that way I would have given you a shout. Apologies. Great roads though.
  7. Ok, topped my highest yesterday by doing 95mph.
  8. Great run out today, down to Ayrshire then across to Dumfries & Galloway. Some fantastic roads, and a nice wee tea room too which some other bikers dropped into as well. Though after leaving there the temperature suddenly dropped, and I was absolutely frozen coming back up to civilisation. A mix of motorway and B roads on the way back up. Reminded me just how much I hate motorway riding. There is just nothing fun about it, and I find myself tensing up due to lack of activity, and to stop me letting go. Some great speeds achieved today, and only 30 odd miles till first service due. Still couldn't keep up with the R1 though, but no surprises there. Wee pic from today (not me in pic) http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u31/Ratser/Bike/DSC00177.jpg
  9. Racing on Motors TV all day today including the Macau Grand Prix.
  10. Trying to get this organised Keith (See Martyn's thread). Keep an eye out in here, and maybe add your name into the thread below about it. Also some folk may just post that they are heading out sometime and if anyone is available to join.
  11. When my car was stolen (4 weeks after I got it brand new), they found the car but the key had been taken by the thieves when they left it with the intention of getting it later on. Was a "steal to order" thing. It took Audi 8 weeks to get new keys programmed. I know that will be different for your bike by the sounds of it, but I suppose if it isn't HISS activated then it may be more staright forward, and probably cheaper to get a whole new barrel and lock. Though your insurance should cover it. I take it you don't have another key with the wee plate attached ?
  12. Looking pretty dry this weekend. Might go for an early run out somewhere tomorrow if anyone is about and fancies it ? Was thinking of heading up to see the folks in Fife (and might still do that), but if not maybe a wee run down Inverary way.
  13. I think I would get the Fireblade TBH. Though the plan is to have one of each
  14. There are just some sports that are good to play but really crap to watch. i.e. darts, snooker, cricket (or rounders ), golf and a few others besides.
  15. Noticed they are/were showing Supercross on either Eurosport or Motors tv. There was also some trial (not trail) biking (you know, like Kickstart used to be like). Apart from that you can get Nascar or the NFL.
  16. Ok, my old man has came down from Fife and staying until Sunday. What time he leaves I don't know, but I may have to pull out of this mate. Shame as according to the BBC the weather is supposed to be ok. If anything changes I will let you know, but take it as me not being able to make it for now.
  17. Just noticed this, apologies if posted elsewhere. Deals on new helmets, with some including leathers as well. Also Alpinestars gear. https://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/
  18. It wont be 'law' Horness, just advice more than anything. You could always just get a wee cargo net for about a fiver and keep his helmet under that rather than have it in the pack.
  19. Sounds good to me. I am still running my bike in as well, and could do with a good stretch too. Do you want to start a new thread in case anyone else fancies it ? Will check with my neighbour too once I know what the weather is gonna be like.
  20. Weather permitting, and unless the missus tells me about something I have forgotton about, I would be up for it.
  21. Chill mate, I said it was "interesting", I didn't say "oh that's brilliant that Marushin rates a 5, I'm off out to buy one of them instead of an Arai"
  22. Scratched my clear visor and so need a new one. Also want a dark one and (gold) mirrored one (will fit in with the bike colours). Anyone know the best place to get them ? Have checked out Visorshop.com which seems not too bad.
  23. Interesting those Marushin helmets rate quite highly. Saw a lot of them in J&S this morning, very nice.
