  2. Warm air making you uncomfortable is nothing compared to an air cooled cylinder head branding you through leathers. SSSzzzztttt. Arrgghhhhttp://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z28/Colin_the_bear/yikes.gif
  3. I get mine for free from work. There's always someone thinking the more you pay the better things are. £15 sounds like being mugged to me.
  4. How much for an hour and a half then?
  5. Check tyres before every ride. Looking is a good way. Check pressures regularly, every ride for me. Tyres are the only thing in contact with the road. Look after them or they won't be
  6. Disc lock can warp a disc if you set off with it on. Clunk. Has happened to members here with big jap bikes. Lift the front wheel off the ground and spin the wheel. If it's bad you can see the movement. Techs use a dial guage to measure run out
  7. Swap bulbs around, if the fault moves with the bulb, sorted
  8. Lucky it wrapped round the wheel and locked it. If it had wrapped round his foot you'd be posting on a different forum. Crutch and a parrot , sorted
  9. I just post sidestand switch to all questions and am right about 25%
  10. No break pads They work all day, non union you see. KitKat break pads, just add tea
  11. Of course , anybody that needs to be told on a forum that a Haynes is necessary has to be a bit special. You tube
  12. Have you trapped something changing sprockets. How does it stall, does it just cut out or splutter and die, sidestand switch? , clutch switch?
  13. Anything you learn on a track is irrelevant for the road. On a track you can push things right to the edge. On the road you need to keep a little in reserve for the unexpected. Never could see the point of overtaking with nothing coming the other way Anything you learn jumping out of a plane and freefalling could well be life changing. Given the choice.......Neither.....I'd rather take the bike out for a run
  14. Has it got a rev limiter? Where's the red line?
  15. Look at map before setting off. Use watch and sun as compass. Carry small compass incase it rains.
  16. Have a little faith and keep an eye on the fluid. However with a high performance (relitively speaking) small 2Stroke another problem will be along shortly.

A problem with brakes would mean it's best not to ride till it's sorted. imo
  18. I have a hub like this. A little play showed up on the MoT test. The bearing one side had become a little loose in its housing. There is no damage to the hub thankfully as it's a shaft drive and drum brake and looks expensive I cured the problem by centre punching lightly three times equidistantly around the bearing housing and refitting with bearing fit fluid. No play for last three MoT's. I've fitted hundreds of bearings and never used a press. Using the old bearings to tap the new in or a suitable drift and care is fine. If the housing was knackered you'd know just looking. The difference between a tight fit and them dropping out can be less than .001". Bearing fit fluid, like thread lock, will hold them in if the play is small. A little burr with a centre punch will take up the slack if the hub isn't damaged.
  19. Stop buying things till you find the problem. You have an ignition problem. ie weak spark. The battery has run dry. The electrical generator, whatever we call it, alternator, dynamo, magneto is not generating. You measured it. All the electricity on the bike comes from this source. Some is stored in the battery and some goes to the ignition and accessories on the bike. Either the generating system has failed and fried the battery or the battery has expired due to neglect, ie not checking fluid. Simply replacing the fried battery may result in having two fried batteries.
  20. Not a massive job by the way, but yes stop running it. If the vave hits the piston or snaps and drops in, it will be.
  21. Not familiar with this make/model Yes readings are low. Battery may not be duff. Try taking off and charging it. You may have just a charging problem. The coil changes the low voltage to high voltage for a spark. If there's no low voltage , nothing to convert. There will be some sort of generator, probably an alternator and associated bits and pieces to charge the battery. It will explain how to check in your manual.
  22. Diana Krall The Look of Love. A 2001 album that I just dicovered. It was a busy year for me. I may go back and do it again, pick up all the bits I missed
  23. Common problem is chain lube flyingb off and gunking switch. Any way to cover the switch. I cable tied a small poly bag over one of mine mine.
  24. There shouldn't be oil in the alternator, should there? Maybe a seal has gone inside the alternator case.
