Stick your textiles in the washing machine every few months, remove any armour first. Use nikwax techwash. Done.

almost.. it has a traditional gearbox. with 2 clutches. 1 controls the even gears, the other the odd gears. changes are made with zero loss of power. click click click. When the bike is in 1st gear... its also already in 2nd and waiting. like a Porsche 911 Carrera. the image shows the down paddle. the up paddle is out of sight. My Africa twin has a DCT transmission.. its an absolute hoot. difficult to see.. but no gear foot pedal.
-
both front and rear brakes are hand operated.. there are no foot controls at all. The rear brake is what would normally be the clutch lever.. and gear changes are either automated or by use of an up and down paddle/button on the left bar.

Write a sternly worded email to the authors at motoridersuniverse.com and to practically every other review site as they all use the word. The only place that does not is the Honda uk site. Though the global site can't resist using it just once. I don't see what the fuss is about. I would call it a scooter to all those who say it isn't. And a motorbike to all those who say it isn't one of those either. It's both. It's neither. Who cares. They're just words. It looks a right laugh and if it's managed to upset KTM and BMW then that's an instant plus point.

Smaller than the Aprilia SRV850.

It has Six gears. Oh! I has gears, I thought it was like a traditional scooter where it was just twist and go. I stand corrected! Thanks for letting me know @Gerontious Of course it has gears. It's a DCT. They usually do.
-
I thought it was a scooter from reading the post name but @Six30 is right, that looks like a proper bike without gears! It has Six gears.

Beating a KTM 950 Super Enduro, KTM 790 Adventure R, KTM 690 Enduro, KTM 640 Adventure, KTM 660 Rally, Husqvarna 701 Enduro, and BMW F 800 GS Adventure. https://motoridersuniverse.com/news/1254322-honda-x-advmaxi-scooter-won-the-2019-gibraltar-rally.html?fbclid=IwAR1Vo1c5Ty4rwQD8-SfhpJZkItHusVPXR2kL4h8GDuTYqk3MnNYNdSzSWZc I do even now, have a small amount of regret that I didn't buy one. (Sigh)

Wow guys, awesome. The wisdom of crowds eh? Thanks so much. I went back and fixed a mistake. the 850 didn't have the underseat tank. its not a very modern bike as that colour red is from the mid 2000s. Definitely a GS.
-
The mirrors are the clue as well as the fuel cap. F800GS could even be a F650/F700 not an F850. though i reckon the colour is wrong to be very recent later than 2010. but definitely one of that family.

I don't make a habit of breaking the law... im far more worried about cameras now than actual police officers, real or imagined. I like having a clean license and when I do go above the speed limit in particular, Im very careful about the 'where' and the 'when'. I have to say.. i do find it amusing that the level of acceptable criminality in this country is so high that this is somehow a bad thing: but of course, its more likely the idea of being fooled thats more upsetting that the actual result. Nobody likes to admit to themselves that their observation skills are actually rather poor. Fact is, if your not behaving like a twat then whether its a real or imaginary copper shouldnt make the slightest difference. If the real or imaginary copper is not showing a blue light then he is just another road user.

My bike has iridiums as standard and they are checked once at 16,000 miles and replaced at 32,000.

Rukka Armaxion from £350
Gerontious replied to bonio's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Armaxion has come to an end after 6 years or so... they often discount hugely before the revision. get the jacket from one place and the pants from another.. or mix and match. pants I have don't match the jacket.. but they match enough not to make the slightest difference. I would easily have gone for the jacket.. but, my own Rukka jacket is only 9 years old and not even close to the end of its life. I dont need two. -

And registered with DVLA as a “historic” vehicle - otherwise it’s illegal for any vehicle registered after 1st January 1973 to display them. https://insidedvla.blog.gov.uk/2015/11/17/whats-the-story-with-black-and-silver-number-plates/ Im sure thats a detail that gives a lot of owners sleepless nights. and it only matters if the ANPR flags it up. if it doesn't then it doesn't matter. do ANPR gadgets recognise all other illegal plate types? i dont know.. nor do I much care, not a day goes by without me seeing at least 1 example of an illegal number plate on a car or motorbike. The owners dont seem to care. The police dont seem to care either. so.. it comes down to whether the MOT cares enough to fail the vehicle. Or at least do 'something'. This all comes about due to greed.. its all about making money. number plates are all about making money. I blame the EU (again) for forcing this country to have the most recognisable number plates in the entire continent. And forcing a level of individuality upon us so that some plates are worth millions of pounds.. with the government raking it in from direct sales and tax on sales of plates. this is what 'taking back control' is all about. innit.

Vehicle Must be older than 1975.

No need for panniers or a tank bag. for a week away, staying at a hotel or B&B without a passenger. all you need is a supply of clean underwear. a change or two of clothing for 'off the bike' and a few other bits and pieces. Shoved into a dry-bag and strapped to the back seat. This is what Im using this year.. next year I will up the ante to panniers as I will very likely be camping. maybe.

More importantly... its right outside the Night Staff office (marked)... and is under a camera. if you're apt to overdoing paranoia there are hoops to chain the bike to. Ask the staff and they may offer you a room that overlooks the carpark. This year will be our 8th year in a row staying at eureka.. its perfect. Travelodge at the other end of the place is just as good. so.. stay at either depending on price/availability.

We have the highest limit for blood alcohol levels in the EU. I think its an outrage that the EU have made us do this.. and after the glorious day we escape the shackles of slavery from our EU overlords. we can do something about this. lets TAKE BACK CONTROL.

Of course it was an April fool. The story first appeared on the BMW group site and announced the world premiere of these new Xdrives on April 1st 2017. If you want to announce something important, groundbreaking, a first in the world. Then April the 1st is not the day to do it. Even the most dry, humourless German publicity exec. knows that. No such bike ever appeared. Then or up to now. Because it was a joke. If you can't get that.. Then the joke is on you. https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/global/article/detail/T0269445EN/bmw-motorrad-launches-the-r-1200-gs-xdrive-hybrid-world-premiere-of-the-first-travel-enduro-featuring-hybrid-all-wheel-drive?language=en

By arranging it. The easiest way is when your bike is being serviced and you take a 'demonstrator' for the day. But.. any decent dealership will offer a lengthy test with a bit of notice. Just as long as theres not a waiting list for the bike.. a waiting list of potential buyers. I would laugh in their face if any dealer said to me.. "an hour". you expect me to spend £15,000 based on an hour.. you are joking!
