Can you imagine following a two stroke that smells of Dew Drenched Morning Raspberry. It's not quite the same. I’m sure you used to be able to get Strawberry scented 2 stroke oil at some point. I thought you were taking the Mick (ly) but not so. Castrol R has the best smell

Now all they need to emulate on the 2 stroke is the smoke, A pair of vape cigarettes should work.

Don't know how you feel about older bikes? I would suggest an RGV 250 (cos ive got one) its only 150kgs with 60hp so good performance , but not really a practical daily bike and kickstart only. How about a grey import 400, around 160kgs, low seat and fair performance. CBR,GSXR,ZXR etc

Been with British Gas forever but sure I'm paying over the odds on a std variable tariff, looked at their fixed price scheme but would save SFA. Looked at price comparison sites , find better prices but always put off by Crap reviews, usually screwing up the bill's and poor customer service trying to fix it. BG don't get great reviews either but I don't have any real issues with them just high prices. Better the devil you know maybe. Looking at someone like Bulb energy, good prices and service, but something inside me thinks who the F are they? Same with many of the other smaller providers. You look on trustpilot etc and its hard to know if the reviews are real or not. Anyone recommend a decent provider?

Some copper in an X5 this morning going into Coventry. Driving to Cov B&Q in the M3, pulls up at a set of lights and the cop stops behind me. Set off into a 50mph limit, so I accelerate normally up to about 45mph, car approaching the opposite way and X5 hoofs it past without blues and two's on. Bit of a rash move I thought, maybe on a shout, but no I follow him into Coventry for about 3 miles at normal speed then stop behind him at a roundabout.

Only time I've ridden on the road without a helmet was at a MAG rally in 1981 when I was 17. Didn't really believe in the protest but went along with mates for a laugh.

I'm currently with them and have been several times in the past and never a problem. Never had to claim though and I guess that's where issues will arise if they are going to.

All the motorists should start their own petition to get all IOM cyclists limited to 10mph, compulsory wearing of cycle helmet, gloves, knee and elbow pads, have to pass some sort of competency test and have liability insurance. All for their safety of course......

Got a Chinese fairing on the RGV and have to say its not bad. The decals and finish are good. Not so good are all the mounting bosses were stuck on with Chinese chewing gum and I had to araldite them back on. Some of the panel gaps are a bit iffy aswell. The overall quality wouldn't fool a purist but good enough. I have the original OEM fairing in the loft, needs a bit of TLC though. I only paid £33 for the Chinese fairing off ebay so bit of a steal when they are upwards of £300 new. Not sure I'd pay full whack for one as reviews are a bit hit and miss.

No matter how you try and rationalise it, having a big hp bike is exciting; some people like to go fast, whether car or bike. Personally I've only seen 3 figures on the R1 a handful of times and about 125 max (private road of course, actually Rockingham circuit) despite it capable of 170mph. I prefer the crazy acceleration you get with 150hp, you could knock 40 mph off its top speed and I wouldn't notice.

Just been up to the Peak district for the day (by car) and walked along part of the Monsal trail starting at Bakewell. Part way along is Hassop station cafe which looks a good place to stop if you are out for a ride. https://www.hassopstation.co.uk/ We drove through Matlock Bath on the way up and it was deserted of bikes, thought we would see a few out.

Read a similar article some years ago talking about people modifying their bikes for more hp and suggesting it was pointless, their conclusion was if you want to go faster, just open the throttle more. Same sort of test was done and showed the riders were only using a fraction of the available performance in normal riding conditions. Of course if track riding is your thing its different as you will be at WOT more than road riding.

Fitted a new battery to the RGV, taxed it and took my first ride out for 4 months Didn't go too far but stopped for a photo on the new suburb growing on the side of Rugby called Houlton. It's on the old radio station site, some may recall seeing the 800ft masts that used to be there, now all gone. The building in the background was one of the transmitter centres that will now be incorporated into a school. Bike ran fine but I think the front brakes need bleeding.

Just to make you feel better A year later I was born 1997 is when I left and it was eggs and flour thrown all over! Lol, just waiting for fastBob and Xtreme to comment and make me feel better

Just watching the news about kids finishing school today and made me think about when I did in 1980. The kids on the news were having a social distanced party, no such things in 1980, just got egged on the bus. When did anyone else leave and any memorable events?
