  1. Went this afternoon with OH in my M3, spent a pleasant couple of hours there sat in the sunshine watching all the cars and bikes. Be warned, there is a heavy police presence in the area, there was a cop car and bike in Ettington on the way in and they made frequent drive thrus at C&M.
  2. Statistics I found say that 14% of the vehicles in Turkey are bikes compared to 3% here. More bikes and a less than healthy attitude towards safety in both riding apparel and driving behaviour will equal more deaths and injuries.
  3. Just got back from a weeks holiday in Marmaris, Turkey. Few observations; 95% of bikes there are scooters. Almost no one wears a helmet let alone any form of protection for the body or gloves. Their idea of bike clothing is a tee shirt, shorts, flip flops and shades. Most scooters are capable of carrying up to 4 people. You don't need to stick to the roads;riding along pavements or through the grand bazaar is fine. Hooting the horn at anything that moves is obligatory. Considering their fairly relaxed attitude towards safety and obeying the rules of the road, how do they survive
  4. There is some one called Summerbud on fleabay based near Stratford that advertises a lot of 70 & 80 jap imports. I bought a spare engine for the Honda from this place, he has a fair amount of bikes for sale. https://classichondamotorcycles.co.uk/
  5. You might be better contacting the Vintage Motorcycle club, your bikes are a bit more their speciality. https://www.vmcc.net/Contact
  6. Two car drivers today at Fosse Park. We were sat in McDs overlooking the drive thru entrance this afternoon. One car driver pulled in while on his phone and with a small dog on his lap Another drives in, parks in a disabled space in McDs car park, gets out with his OH and kid and walks off to the shops; inconsiderate assh@le.
  7. What do you reckon Bob the cat and white dog are saying to each other? Dog; sit on this bike and you are toast. Cat; I wouldn't sit on that fake Harley even I have standards. Dog; Come down here and say that you piece of sh1t. Cat; yawn, CBA.
  8. Some of it will depend on the bike, 30 miles on my RGV is about my limit, have done around 250 miles in a day on the R1 and felt shattered after but I reckon I could ride the scooter all day much more relaxed riding position. Might be different if I was 30 years younger aswell.
  9. Ran over two foxes that were already dead. Riding home on the EXUP from Banbury in the dark following a car, when the fox appeared from under it and it was too late to swerve. Luckily it was legthways across the road and I went over the middle of it, bit of a bump and no drama. 2nd time, the Fox was laying along the road and I went over the whole thing, it chucked me out the saddle and I was lucky not to fall off.
  10. all my bikes are from that era. I consider it the golden age of motorcycles. mid 70's are old enough to be antique but can be ridden. earlier bikes are a real problem because they are hopelessly antique. non synchromesh transmissions are a no no in city traffic. because its restomoded. finally its completely reliable once the faulty slipper is gone. everything eles is new. ignition, charging system, lights, carbs, wheel bearings, tires, all new. im coming up on 3k miles on that 360. fun to ride, 50mpg, 6 speed tranny kick and go no switches or battery. 1hp per 10 lbs. why own it. its a California thing. a local mechanics ride and meet. its called the dirtbag challenge. as an American I feel its my duty. I saw this bike come up on the internet and pulled the trigger. 400$ for the bike and a spare engine. I have a couple of 70s Jap machines ,'70 SS125 and a '75 GT380. The 125 has been rebuilt over the last year, see my thread in the restoration section.
  11. Thank you for highlighting the cam chain weakness of the CB360, I'll strike it off my bucket list of bikes to own before I die. Perhaps we should start a thread on bikes that are complete turds and why? The 360 could be at the top. If the bike is such a lemon,(your words), why own it? There must be hundreds of better ,more reliable bikes from the era.
  12. Rode by the Willoughby cafe this morning and saw loads of bikes gathering, marshalls in hi vis jackets waving people in and many other bikes seemingly heading that way. Never seen that many bikes there, does anyone know what the occasion was all about?
  13. But why is the guy not wearing any shoes and socks ? Weight saving?
  14. The only thing going near my carbs are ultrasonic cleaners, carb spray or compressed air
  15. I've got 6, with 5 of them on the road. Fortunately 2 of them, 380 and Honda SS50 are tax and mot exempt and only the price of insurance which isn't a bad thing to have theft cover. They all do get a run every few months so hopefully no carb gumming can develop. Flat batteries are the main headache, but a quick charge up normally sorts it out. Most frequently used is the scooter followed by the R1
  16. Have to admit on those two hot days last week, I took the car to work with AC on flat chat.
  17. Park your bike at my house and catch the train to New st, 30mins from Rugby.
  18. Honda 350/4 or 400/4?
  19. I'm sure there are a number of irresponsible riders that bring this down on everyone. Saw a helicopter rescue type programme recently, it was based around Yorkshire. One episode told of some old boy out for a walk in the woods, some f#kwit on a bike goes tearing through the same wood, knocks this old guy over breaking some bones ,doesnt even stop and just clears off.
  20. Went to watch the Bees when I was a lad in the early 70s, still got the scarf
  21. Laced the front wheel up, just got to true and tension it.
  22. It must still be under warranty, take it back and tell em to fix it.
  23. Different, but similar... At the manned train station gates if I show my ticket the guard sometimes asks to see my network railcard discount card. I often just sigh and go to an automated gate instead that doesn't ask. Again different but similar. Went to a GSF store in Dav. Me, I'd like this part for my car GSF, yes no probs. Me, do I get the 50% discount that you offer online. GSF, no that's online offer only. If you order it over your phone now and wait 30 mins you can have it half price. So I ordered it in front of him, went to no1 daughters for half an hour then went back to collect it
  24. Regarding primer, I've had much better results with etching primer bought from a proper paint suppliers rather than std primer from the likes of Halfuds
  25. I would have counter offered again for £169.50. Yes I did think about it but lost patience with stupid ebayers
