Welcome. A quick search suggests the intake rubber between carb and head perishes ,the symptoms of this would cause it to run lean and difficult to start. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/te-510-leaking-intake-boot.22705/ What R1 did you have,? I've got a 2001 5JJ

Rugby Bikefest 2019
Bianco2564 replied to Snod Blatter's topic in Midlands & Lincs ride outs and meets
Sorry old bean for leaving early, was there until 1.30,I had been getting the grumpy face from OH about going to "another" bike show. The parking does get a bit messy once the ride in is done and people just park anywhere. -
What tools to keep on the bike

AA membership card and a phone. -
Some fukwit in a black Ford something on the A426 Banbury to Southam road this evening. Riding the R1 behind a car doing about 45mph, approaching a turning on the right and preparing to overtake after the junction when I see the Ford attempting an overtake of me and the car across the junction, unfortunately at the same a car decides to turn left out the junction. The SYNT (see you next Tuesday) in the Ford has to brake really hard right probably less than a couple of metres from me and pull in behind. I give him the universal palm upwards hand signal WTF are you doing.

Rugby Bikefest 2019

Snod Blatter I was there took the Honda and parked down by the town hall with the VJMC. They close all the roads after the ride in and any late comers have to park up where they can and generally not in the main show areas. I had a quick look around when I first got there, usual stalls and attractions but I don't go to buy anything or listen to the music. -
I'd say you will need 3/8 & 1/4 drive aswell. 1/2 drive can be a bit chunky on a bike except for wheel spindles.

.You didn't hang around too long mate . I came to say hello at 14:00 and you had gone . Never mind , some other time . I had to bail about 1.30, I'd been out the house since 8.45 and been getting a few comments from OH, "going on another bike thing?" Sorry about that and yes catch up another time. Next event for me will be the Daventry show in a few weeks. Good turn out again and good to see the town centre that busy. Honda ran well and seemed to attract a fair bit of attention. OH got a pic of me during the ride in.

Painted the coach bolts last in a Kelloggs spray booth and fitted them today. All set for the Rugby bikefest tomorrow

Where does the co come in to it? I put the B & Ian together and the name Bianco just evolved. On other forums I went by the user name Iancav6; names Ian and I drove a Cavalier V6.

My name is Ian, surname starts with a B,birth date 25th, year 64.

Taxed both the 380 and the Honda tonight for the cost of zero pounds. Lot to be said for historic vehicles
-
Definitely paint them black . . Might check out the bike fest . Will get them done before Sunday Should be displaying the Honda on the VJMC stand which will be down by the town hall, hope to see you there.

Buying the bike is one thing, you need to consider the budget for the restoration aswell, costs can add up quickly even if you are not doing it to showròm condition. I've almost finished my Honda SS125 ,I dread to think how much I've spent must be well over £500 but I only paid £35 for it many years ago. Some sample costs; Shot blasting and powder coating;£125 Paint; £60 Spraying; £50 (done as a favour) Exhaust downpipes £25 (another favour) Silencers ; £120 Wheel rims and spokes ; £45 Clutch springs, brake shoes, rear light, indicators, bulbs, exhaust brackets, mirrors, number plate, shocks, stickers, battery, more paint, fasteners etc etc etc. And David Silver will be having an extra large Xmas dinner this year thanks to what ive thrown his way. Luckily the engine was ok , just needed a spruce up and I'll get away with the tyres, chain and sprockets for now. Not trying to dampen your enthusiasm but make you realise the costs before it turns into an unfinished project.

Ordered some new mirrors for the Honda as I thought it looked a bit unfinished. I had fitted the number plate with normal bolts but didn't like the way it looked so got some M5 coach bolts instead, might paint them black so they blend in. All I've left to do is replace the wheel rims and spokes but I'm going to leave that until after the Rugby bike fest just in case it turns to sh1t.

Tractor driver on the Lutterworth to Market Harborough road this morning. He was just chugging along oblivious to the huge line of traffic building up behind him, we followed him for around 4 miles where he had ample opportunities to pull over and let the traffic by. His ignorant behaviour caused a load of cars and bikes to make rash overtakes.

Wolds run,Sat 4th May

Having seen the state of my bike makes me feel sorry for the owner of an early Honda CB750 we were following on the ride out. His original looking 4 into 4 chrome exhausts were plastered in mud when we stopped half way round. -

I'll be there at my hometown event. If the weather is ok I'll be on the Honda, if its wet it will be the R1. -
Not a complete nob as his car sounded fantastic. Travelling back down the A46 between Newark and Leicester, overtaking a car ,I was doing about 80 mph, checking my mirrors frequently was caught by surprise by a big black AMG Merc right on my tail out of nowhere.I pulled in and he absolutely hoofs it by me with a roar of V8 power ,legend He disappears into the distance overtaking a line of cars must have been at 130 mph plus, nob

Wolds run,Sat 4th May

Just got back. Met up with two guys from work at Market harborough at 7am,weather was dry but a fresh 4 degrees C. Went up to Melton Mowbray, Colsterworth,Sleaford and to Mareham Le fen where one of the guys parents lives. Quick cuppa and then rode into East Kirkby airfield with his dad on his 60 year old Royal Enfield Crusader. The Lancaster was outside taking visitors for taxi rides along the runway , £300-400 a pop Set off for the 50 mile ride out at 10.30, just in time for a couple of really heavy showers. What should have been a pleasant ride through the Wolds was a bit of a grind, mostly back roads covered in gravel and mud. Back to the airfield for 12.45 for some brunch in the Naafi which was most welcome. A look around the hanger full of WW2 items ,Mosquito, Dakota, smashed up engines,Tallboy bomb amongst a lot of other things. The Lancaster fired 3 of its 4 engines and proceeded to do the taxi run which was a few shortish runs up and down the grass runway. Best bit was when it rolled back onto the apron and opened up the engines, the sound of a pair of Merlin engines at high speed was awesome. Another brew and cake at the parents then a blast back down the A46 back home 97 miles in 1hr55m Inc a fuel stop. 260 miles in total, R1didnt miss a beat, can't say the same for me, my wrist and legs were killing me when I got home. My beautiful blue R1 is plastered in dirt, its never looked like this since I've owned it Ah well, good excuse for full mint up tomorrow. -
Sounds like a lack of boost. Check the wastegate. Check all the pipes from turbo to intercooler etc are intact and not split. Check the egr isn't gummed up as suggested Zafiras catch fire, chuck a match on it and complain to Vauxhall claiming for a new one :

Or from m&p Cheaper and free p&p https://www.mandp.co.uk/laser-cat-standard-tool.html I've got one and its ace for aligning the wheel.

£320 FC for R1,RGV,380 and SS125 with Carole Nash. Had to insure the scooter separately as the multi bike is a max of 4 bikes but it only cost £75 without any ncb.

Other things on my mind right now. I'm departing Victoria Station to meet my new Harley. But no , not yet . Ok. Got everything for the trip? Bandana, fake moustache,AA membership card, bad ass attitude. Have a safe ride back. -
Inclined to agree here, as much as the garage said it would have 12mth MOT you are legally responsible to make sure It's fit for the road at the time of purchase and thereafter. Guess it had some MOT at purchase allowing you to tax it? That's one benefit of paying monthly for your road tax, when the MOT is due to expire the DVLA contact you and say the tax will stop if you don't MOT the vehicle.
