  1. Next Saturday, will be on the RGV again. http://www.daventrybikefest.co.uk/index2.html
  2. Probably possible but sounds like a lot of effort. Ecu, loom, fuel pump, hoses, throttle body, injector, lambda sensor, other sensors, maybe tank and clocks. Would need to be declared to your insurance as a mod, which would most likely put your premium up. Have to ask, but why not just buy an EFI bike?
  3. Took a ride over to the Long Itch diner (in a village called Long Itchington if any non local was wondering) for their Thursday bike night. Got there quite early and got a front row seat for the RGV ,could only stay for an hour or so and it was pretty packed by the time I left.
  4. I ride by at 6.06. According to FB there were about 1000 bikes at the ride in.
  5. A great day out today, highlight being first ride to a show with my eldest 8 year old grandson as a pillion on his Dads bike. Met @billy sugger, pleasure to meet another person off the forum Perfect weather helped bring out all the bikes and crowds. Cooling fan on the RGV worked a treat, despite slow moving for around 15 mins, the gauge didn't go above halfway. Talking to the owner of the X7, his brother owned it from new , there was me and this other guy checking it out, both saying "I had one of these".
  6. Same as cars really, age, experience, location etc. I'm 59 , lowish risk area and insured 5 bikes FC inc an R1 for £340. Then again I insured my e46 m3 for £123. Lots of online sites can give you a ball park figure before you set your heart on something.
  7. I'd think somewhere around a 500-600cc would be a reasonable start, fast enough but not OTT. The GS310 is only around 34hp , not dissimilar to my Ninja 250, its fine if you just want to keep up with traffic but useless at overtaking once above 50mph or so. Have you looked at insurance? This may rein in your wish list. A guy at work passed his DAS last year and was gifted an old 600cc Thundercat and gets on with it fine.
  8. Great, might see you there, I'll be on this.
  9. Hello and welcome. Up to recently I had a 600 silverwing for 4 years. I had all the lights go out on me one night on an unlit road which was fun. Although my symptons were different, engine still ran, no lights or dash, might be worth checking this. The 12v feed wire from the battery under the LH side panel had totally rotted through.
  10. Finished the RGV fan today, changed the stainless plate for carbon and moved the fan inwards a bit for clearance to the fairing. Replaced the bullet connectors for a plug. Pretty pleased with the outcome, all done for around £15. Bought the fan off ebay, found the nuts, bolts, switch, relay and wiring in the garage. Bit of carbon was scrap from work and got the plug from Halfords. It's first real test will be on Sunday for the Rugby bike show ride in.
  11. The Honda fan arrived today and its just the right size. Had to shorten the top hose a little and slid that on further. Found a strip of stainless plate from a previous job and bolted it up, its all reasonable secure, just need a bit of foam to space the plate away from the rad and a bit of foil tape to seal up the slight overhang. Connected up the wiring with some tempoarary bullet terminals and of course the acid test of "does it work"
  12. I want to add a rad cooling fan to the RGV, when doing the ride ins at Rugby and Daventry bike shows the temp creeps up quite quick. There isn't a massive amount of room, I've bought a fan from a Honda 125 off ebay hoping its small enough to fit in the space below the top hose on the LH side. Did the wiring today, added a relay direct to the battery and rocker switch picking up a feed from the horn. Fitted new mirrors.
  13. A bit more fettling on the RGV. This rusty screw on the brake fluid reservoir was really bugging me. The screw was seized solid in the captive nut and was just spinning around, couple of minutes with a junior hacksaw soon despatched it. I had a spare reservoir in my spares with a new nut and suitable capscrew. Replaced a tired bit of fuel hose from the tap to the fuel filter. Taxed it, filled it up with super and took it for a spin.
  14. Hi and welcome. My guess would be a GSX750ES without a fairing. Like this https://www.google.com/search?client=tablet-android-samsung&biw=1280&bih=800&tbm=isch&sxsrf=APwXEdcvyJflC8LBd9MB8pn81qoHYxNJLQ%3A1682923449272&sa=1&q=gsx750es+1985&oq=gsx750es+1985&aqs=mobile-gws-lite..0l1#imgrc=n7f2zLKggwdZ3M
  15. Replaced the cracked choke lever on the RGV, luckily its common across a few Suzuki models so fairly easy to pick up.
  16. @Mickly Daventry is a few weeks after, if you can make that?
  17. https://bikefest.rugbyfirst.org/ Sun 21st May RGV is ready for this year.
  18. After spending yesterday evening sulking because the bike was broke, me and OH took the M3 up to East Kirkby. Had a great day around the museum and watching the Lancaster and Mosquito doing their taxy runs.
  19. Rain...parade. Checking the Kwak over this afternoon and found this in the front tyre
  20. Windows on the piston the wrong side.
  21. Fuelled up the Ninja last night ready for the Wolds run tomorrow, worked out the fuel consumption and see it had hit 82mpg. Over the last 4 months its averaged 76-79 mpg and the only thing that's changed this week is the engine oil. All the blurb on the can says less friction, more power and mpg etc etc ,but I've always took that with a pinch of salt. Don't want to jump to early conclusions after only one tankful so see how it goes over the next week.
  22. https://www.lincsaviation.co.uk/events/Wolds-Motorcycle-Run-2023.htm I'm going to this on Saturday, went a few years ago, motorcycles and Lancaster bombers, what's not to like.
  23. RGV passed its MOT today, no advisories. First time I've riden it since 2019, forgot how small the thing is. Ran really well and loving the sound when it hits the power band.
  24. I filled it up with Castrol Power and the difference was night and day , might try the Castrol power Racing next oil change.
  25. Since changing the oil on the Kwak, I've found it goes back into neutral much easier when hot.
