At least every 8k or so but as said, it's easy and worthwhile doing every service.

The clearances on ZX6 J/A1P models are known to close up quite quickly as the head is supposedly quite soft. I checked my A1P at 18k and at least two valves on the exhaust side were out of tolerance and several of the intakes were on the tight side but still in tolerance. I prefer to set the valves on the loose side (a little tappety) then I can hear when they have closed up. Too loose is generally better than too tight. When they get tight, the valves will stay open damaging the valve seats, when they are very loose, the cams and buckets will be hammered causing premature wear. Some models are more prone to wear than others and require more frequent checks. A compression check can indicate valve problems and also stalling and or poor tickover could indicate valve clearance issues. I will be rechecking the clearances at 40k miles, 22k since the last check. If there's any doubt, get them checked for peace of mind.

Have you looked here ? -
Just in case anybody is thinking of going, you can email [email protected] to register for a £2 discount per adult.

No, £7 is way too steep for what's on offer.

How long did you wait to do a track day after passing?
Revvin Kevin replied to Stuno1's topic in Racing and Track Days
For the first time, best advice would be to try a controlled track experience such as the Ron Haslam School mentioned above or go for a Novice only trackday and pay the extra to hire one of the organisers bikes. -
That raises another question. Who protects their no NCD ? Although your NCD is protected you still become a greater risk to the insurance company and they will either refuse to insure you or increase your premiums over subsequent years. Is it worth it ? Personally I don't bother.
-
Actually that happened to me when the bike was insured TPFT. I rebuilt the bike for £1300 which taking into account a typical excess of £450, (when insured FC) realistically cost me only £850. There was then no increase in premiums for the next 5 years as there would be if I had claimed on a FC policy. You have to understand the risk and insure accordingly, £4k is the defining line for me
-
Depends on the value of the bike, >£4k FC, <£4k TPFT.

We'll be going, as always
-
We're going the last day too

After putting the alram into service mode, just leave the internal battery to drain, it takes upto 12 hours then the beeping will stop.

I use Pirellii Diablo Corsa III all year including trackdays, winter and summer riding. It's possible to get upto 5500 miles out of a rear and 7000 miles out of a front.
-
Perhaps trailing too much front brake Looks like a bump on the entry too, how much travel left in the forks
-
Buy a hack for < £2k
-
All weather, why ride only during our short summer, I almost prefer winter riding to summer riding

Wheres all the rideouts?
Revvin Kevin replied to RicKsTa's topic in Midlands & Lincs ride outs and meets
Don't knock it, we may start in Lincs but ride everywhere, anything upto 550miles in a day is typical on a longer rideout We have a YZF 125 rider that joins us and he can keep up with the best so no worries there -

If you can make it to Lincs, we rideout every weekend -
A few of us from another forum are having a ride down this Sunday, perhaps we could meet at Rutland, what sort of time do you expect to get there ?
