  1. I'm off the road for 6 more weeks until my arm heals so I'll have some catching up to do.
  2. I always pick my dogs mess up and drop it in a bin. However when I take a dump out walking I get shouted out if I put it in the bin or not. Double standards some people
  3. I have 2 piece leathers I use if I'm riding any distance and an armoured jacket for when it's cold. If I'm commuting or not traveling far I'll wear kevlar jeans and I bought some motocross armour that i wear under a normal jacket or hoodie. I'm under no illusion I'm best protected in my leathers but I'd rather some armour than non at all. I've seen the aftermath of a slowish speed (40mph) off involving someone wearing an everyday normal jacket and jeans. Looked like he ran his body over a massive cheese grater
  4. I learnt that if a ladder is available don't try and be Spiderman. And if 7 people tell you to go to hospital then don't wait a few days and then go only to find out you've broken your wrist in 3 places
  5. I'd like to give this a go this year. I aim to get a lot more rides in this year since I was on a 125 until June last year
  6. I'll give it a go once my arm is out of pot. Bloody broken wrist
  7. Ok so my zx6r has been running fine until recently. It starts first push of the button every day but If I stop it won't start again it's like battery is dead. Then after trying and trying it sometimes starts and other times it needs bumping off. It's got a brand new battery and new plugs. I've had it into local garage where sods law it started every time. Any ideas?
  8. Thanks for the replies. I've had the bike in bits today and it turns out to be a combination of knackered battery and the fuel pump. I've stripped down the pump and cleaned all the connections and put on a new battery and it's running again. I've also booked it in to get carbs cleaned as it's running a bit rough.
  9. Thanks Stu, luckily this Saturday the company MD is in and he is a keen biker and knows his stuff so I'll rope him into helping out. I've ordered a new battery anyway as mine was getting on a bit and I'm going to give the bike a service while it's in bits so hopefully I'll be able to get it sorted
  10. What would cause the engine not to turn over fast enough? I can't do anything with the bike until Saturday as it's currently stuck in the warehouse at work
  11. Ok well Sunday morning a set off to meet some mates, I road about 40 mins met my mates and had a quick a brew. Went to start bike and it was like battery was dead and had to push start the bike. I rode it another half hour and parked it up for 4 hours then it started no problem. Parked up another half hour and it started fine and rode the 40 mins home. Monday morning bike starts fine and i ride to work, I pull up at work and the bike dies and it's not started since. I've had 3 batteries tried on it so I know that's not the issue. Any ideas? Also last week the bike wouldn't start after I stopped to fill up, it was like battery was flat then after 5 mins it started.
  12. Nob of the day..... well that would be me today. Riding through town I approached a mini round about slowed down and indicated to turn right. Approaching car looks at me slows right down as if to stop. I enter roundabout and start to turn and the car caries on straight causing me to slam on. I give the old bloke a gob full. He stalls and gets out. It's then I realise my front right indicator isn't working, so obviously driver thought I was going straight on. I apologised and we shook hands. But I felt like a right dick head.
  13. Just seen these replies sorry. Been to York and now home bored. Considering going out again though
  14. Yeah I was planning on Sunday but that's a no. I've got a rare Saturday off work and no list of jobs from the Mrs I've got something to pick up from Infinity in York so might go for a bimble through there
  15. Anyone out and about tomorrow? Looks like first dry day since passing my test so going to take my first ride out.
  16. I had my MOD 2 today, was told to meet instructor at training school for 6.45am so I could get some training in before my 8.15 test. That didn't happen since he didn't have a set of keys so had to wait for someone to come open up. Rode the short distance to Beverley and arrived at test centre. Went through paperwork had same examiner as mod 1 which was good. Did the tell me show questions where my mind went blank. He explained he'd be in a car and if we got separated just to carry on unless he told me to wait. Rode out the test centre as I left the gate into the industrial estate I slowed for the first junction and hit a pothole knocking me off balance slightly so i had to put both feet down for a second. Then off I went. Turned out of town and into a small village, asked to stop when safe. Examiner told me I was now going to do 10 mins independent riding and to follow signs for the number bridge. Also gave me a heads up that the left turn up ahead was really sharp and to just go steady. Off i went got to the junction onto the main road, and there it was. Rush hour traffic stuck behind a convoy of caravan transporters. I pulled out in a gap but the examiner didn't. I carried on following the signs as instructed, radio was silent I came to the convoy and was in 2 minds to sit behind it or go for the over take. I decided on the overtake. And I was gone, open road and no sign of examiner. I'm pretty sure I could have popped a wheelie and he wouldn't have noticed (I didn't). A few miles later the radio crackles into life "take your next available left turn and find somewhere safe to stop, I'll come find you" I turned off and waited, he caught up and i carried on. Went around the outskirts of town which was uneventful then back through the Westwood, which is basicly a huge field with a road through it where cows have free reign. Pulled an emergency stop for a cow which decided to step back onto the road. I looked down at the clock and thought it must be about time to finish. We rode through town over a number of roundabouts and back to test centre. Got in and examiner shook my hand and said I had an excellent ride and complimented me on my safe overtake of the lorries. (Good job I didn't pull the wheelie since I was still in sight). Only fault I got was 1 minor right at start where I put both feet down. Completely stress free and actually enjoyed it. I felt more relaxed than I did on a lesson. Only advice i could give anyone really is enjoy it. They aren't looking for perfect they just want safe. Don't rush anything take your time. Remember 1 good life saver is better than 3 or 4 half arsed ones.
  17. 10? That seems quite a lot. I thought it was 5. I can stop stressing now. Just wish I knew what my "bad habits" are, I'm guessing one of them is cornering speed, since I got told off slightly for getting right over round a tight bend and then near enough straight lining the next corner. But that comes from trying to keep up with others when I was on my 125. Obviously i wouldn't do that on my test, I just forgot I had an instructor behind me on way back from test centre yesterday.
  18. I passed mod1 yesterday 1st go, got my MOD 2 booked for the 25th of this month so 2 weeks. I can't get any lessons in next week as the instructor is away. Only had 1 lesson prior to doing my MOD 1. I'll be doing half a days training day before my test because instructor told me a I have a few bad habits to get out (I presume these have come from riding a 125 with others and copying them) I'm confident on the bike and my instructor says I'm ready for the test. But just out of interest how many minor faults count as a fail?
  19. About 2 months, a car decided he wanted the bit of road I was on forcing me into the gutter, I lost the back end and luckily fell into the grass verge. Just a small scrape in swing arm and a slight cut to my wrist.
  20. Other option would be just to pay for single lessons when you have the cash, may take longer but same outcome
