Hi @fastbob, I believe I'm right in saying if you had a engine out of the frame, or even in frame, if you were checking the gearbox to see if it works, you would normally turn the selector shaft anti clockwise! Which is the way most Gearbox's work, ie the GPZ500, you put your foot on lever and it moves shaft in a anti-clockwise action. On the ER5/6 the gear-lever faces backwards, and direct to shaft so when you put it down for first, the selector shaft goes Clockwise the opposite way, I don't think there are many engines build like this, but hey I maybe wrong!! So if you were checking it out of frame etc, you would mistakenly think you had a upside down box ie 1 up and 5 down. I know you said he had lever fitted but that's the way I see it. But yes be interested otherwise!

Hi @jedibiker, as both @Stu and @Mr Fro have said, depending on which one you have broken though on, you would probably get away with re-tapping and putting a new stud in, again like @Mr Fro said not sure of the oil galleries on the Fazer head.

Yes, most are copper rings nowadays.

Hi @James in Brum, have you got a pressure washer mate? first thing I would do is give it a bloody good clean down, so you can track where the oil is coming from! It look's like you've had a slight leak near rear of case, hence build up of black oil! but give it a good wash, then if you still can't see leak, check oil level in bike, then get someone to start it up, But yes to change sump you'll be best to take exhaust off, give's you more room
-
I would be very interested @James in Brum to see what you could hit underneath your ZZR600, you have the fairing then the exhaust pipes, before even getting close to the sump!! And I believe the sump plug is at the rear of sump and recessed? You may have had some muck and oil inside the bottom of fairing, that when you hit it , it dislodge it and dropped out of rear! Where the pipes are! Have you had a oil filter changed anytime and maybe had a small leak inside fairing, and running up the ramp again dislodged it? Just a suggestion. But be interested to see some photo's!

Hi, Good luck, but you might find that the Stud extractor you have won't grip on a rusty 6m/m bolt, especially if they are broken ones, and also they are large and around the exhaust/head you ain't got a lot of room. I have a set of IRWIN 7 piece power grip extractors I use for exhaust studs, that and plenty of Normfest super crack ultra. But yes wish you luck

I have a Olfi as well and very happy with footage, Friend runs a GoPro, and reckons the picture quality is just as good on the Olfi.

Hi @jedibiker, I use this a lot, find it slightly better than releasing spray, and you should be able to spray up the inside of nuts, Normfest Super Crack Ultra - Ice-Rust Remover 400mlProduct Code: NOR28944421

Hi @jedibiker, Yep as you said After Market pipes, Looking at photo's I would say, no need to take the Crash bars off! you would't gain anything by removing them. The only way I reckon you could get filter out/in maybe coming in from bottom of left hand side, on last photo. I would try feeding new filter threaded end last, up behind exhaust. I know it's a bit restricted with other filter still in place, but you could see, if you could get above and drop it back down levelling it out as you did! The other problem is of course getting filter undone!!! Not much room to fit a Oil filter wrench in there. Maybe a Strap one! If you can't seem to fit filter in, you could try to take just the centre 2 pipes off, but I would spray the nut's and studs a lot at cylinder head, before even attempting to remove.
-
Hi, maybe the Crash Bars are in the way, It's been awhile since I did a fazer, but sure now they come out the side as @WD-40pointed out. Unscrew the filter and turn it 90 degrees across front of engine.
-
Hi @jedibiker, yep they look right for the Fazers, It is a bit of a tight squeeze to get the Oil Filter out! Part no for nut is 90179-06668, if you can find picture online. Send us a picture of front of exhaust near oil filter, but they look like stock headers.

Hi @skyrider, Yes only condensation, this is my CBR400RR, just showing @gymwitch, that she probably worried about nothing, on her CBR400RR just needs a good run out. Mine was laid up for 8 years, and now runs fine!! One other thing @gymwitch, near the end of Video I turn fuel off, then wait till pump starts clicking, before switching off. just helps starting if carbs are low on fuel. But I only use mine occasionally.
-
Hi @gymwitch, I would say like @skyrider @Tiggie, say it's probably only condensation, but i also think that the motor sounds like it's misfiring at the bottom end like @WD-40 said. When you did the carbs did your friend balance them, and also did she play with the mixture screw's when putting them back together? A little trick I use sometimes is when I first fire up a engine, after 10 seconds or so, shut motor off and carefully touch the top of header pipes, they should all be the same heat! If they are different then you will have to figure out which ones need to be either richened up or leaned down, the hottest is lean, coolest is rich. Going to try and upload a Video of mine starting this morning, not been started or run for about 8-10 weeks!! and never done any video uploads!!!

Admiral must do it different for Business policy's, because mine says www.natwin,co.uk! And when I went to Autoglass website, it states they don't deal with Admiral Van policy's? That's why I contacted Admiral on Saturday morning. Got a Autoglass place 1/2 mile up road from where we live. And my excess is £25 for repair and £115 for new screen, Wife's car policy is £0!
