  1. Does it run okay when the engine's up to temperature?
  2. The sheer delight on co-worker's faces when it's raining at home time.
  3. No no, break pads. Get it right.
  4. Do the DWP know?? Anyway, is it possible that someone has modified the airbox and changed the jetting to suit? Does the split look deliberate?
  5. I missed it, also by more luck than judgement. Can't claim any heroics. I've not yet been caught out by diesel on a roundabout, there always seems to be plenty of warning from the long streak of it beforehand. Maybe I've just been lucky? I did however very nearly drop the K100 on a roundabout due to a load of "surface dressing" that had piled up where the cars weren't running through it, lightly sprained my leg keeping the beast up. Every day's a school day!
  6. Meh, I tried!
  7. Saw this at the counter of the burger van near work, made my mind up to go vote Labour!
  8. Filtering past coworkers who are sat in traffic Oh and the big trips. Proper adventures that you wouldn't really think of doing in a car, but for some reason it sounds like a great laugh to try and do it on a bike. And then you end up with interesting stories about how your 23 year old CB250 with 90K on it was breaking in half in the middle of Spain, got it fixed by a window maker and rode it down a bit further before successfully getting home and not even dying once.
  9. Is this a traily type thing with an overgrown CG motor?
  10. I dunno man, there's a lot of movement around the headstock and all the vibration..
  11. Some say that the wires will just work harden and break off if you use solder because it won't flex like a crimp can. All I know is you only seem to get crimped connectors on original wiring..
  12. Oh really? https://i.imgur.com/rIGvHS9.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'> No need to mess about
  13. Rebuilt the delivery head for the Loobman on the Kawasaki as it had been caught by a very loose chain and basically torn to bits.. A very dirty/greasy job but it's better than ever now, with extra cable ties to hold it together. The amount of salt about is incredible, massive amounts of lube are definitely required. Then I moved the K100's tool kit from the area in the rear to under the seat to stop it rattling about so much and noticed a loose screw that should be holding the ABS brain in place.. I ended up tightening nearly every fastener for the rear plastic! I think I need to go over it thoroughly..
  14. Bill Fowler was banging on about this in the Used Motorcycle Guide back in the 80s, at the time cars were coming on in leaps and bounds and yet all bikes got were quick-seize disc brakes and quick-wear monoshock linkages. Why do we put up with fixed footpegs and handlebars when car seats are fully adjustable? Calipers that stop working after 2 months of winter use? A final drive system that needs constant and messy attention? Terrible headlights (though admittedly this is finally getting better)? Car drivers simply wouldn't put up with this nonsense. And where are the 100MPH/100MPG machines we should easily have by now, ready to tempt more people on to bikes? It's a topic close to my heart. To try and stay on topic, corrosion inhibitors are for girls. A real man's bike looks like this: It's even better now
  15. Sell it and get a Fazer? Proper handlebars, nice big comfy seat, no expense on new parts, no time in fitting the parts, easily insurable..
  16. I think early CBFs had a problem with the fuel pump that was just like this?
  17. Ahh the sheer glamour of it all.. https://i.imgur.com/ZVRNY8A.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'>
  18. Went for a ride to charge the battery. Didn't expect to arrive in Silent Hill! https://i.imgur.com/3HUbbGf.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'> https://i.imgur.com/QV334IE.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'> And then this magical thing happened! https://i.imgur.com/VTxcOdP.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'> https://i.imgur.com/EyHYDka.jpg' alt='IMGUR>'> Hehe.
  19. How do I thumbs down on here?? Meanwhile nearly all the paint has flaked off the Kawasaki's fork legs so at least they can't get much worse
  20. Cutting what exactly?
  21. I thought Shell V-Power was 0% ethanol but apparently not.. Anyway, hopefully it will be like the rest of Europe where 95 RON is mostly E10 and the Super stays as E5.
  22. People rave about DeoxIT, a spray which takes the oxidation off contacts. You could then fill the connectors with ACF50 or something to make sure water can't get in again. Depending on the exact connector you may even be able to remove the female pins from the plastic part and crunch them in a bit for better contact.
  23. Have you tried finding videos of the bike elsewhere to see what other bikes are like? All I could find with a quick search was but that's even more confusing because both the lights stay on all the time!
  24. Judging by the oil feed in the bottom left corner of this picture (with the rubber ring): I'm guessing the oil is indeed pumped into the rocker cover and then sprayed down. If you're not too concerned about being poisoned you can try blowing through the corresponding hole in the rocker cover to see if the oilways are clear. Also do the roller bits that touch the cam lobes still actually roll about? Are they loose at all?
  25. How are the rockers oiled? Is it the usual Honda trick of spraying oil from the rocker cover? If so, have you checked none of the holes are blocked? You sound like you have a good idea of what's going on in there so hopefully we'll manage to get somewhere!
