  1. With respect I have had cocker spaniels lovely a little bit active and mainly obedient... It's when dog trainers say: 1) You might have to just keep him on a long lead, several 1 on 1 lessons later.* 2) you realize that dog will never be classically trained, 3) the nicest we have had yet after meeting him after a few months, there are some slight signs of improvement. . * You highlight the dangers of long lead with 40 kg on the end, my answer was you try they soon agree... IMG_20200316_081914_3.jpgIMG_20200225_075708_4.jpgIMG_20200116_141100_4.jpg On the plus side he's friendly, he is none reactive/ aggressive to other dogs. He always comes back in the end, I have tried losing him. When you get the amature dog trainers this is what you should do.... Well maybe this will, he really is not food motivated is he? Others where the person who was 1/2 waving his foot half kicking dog to keep him away. Dog started chasing his foot around, it was funny all he had to do was put his foot down and chase game was over.. Then there was the one who went to smack his nose for sniffing near him, dog snapped at his fingers no contact but warning don't you dare. We don't smack his nose, he really doesn't like it. It's just the house and back yard is never going to be big enough. If he dosnt get an hour run his behaviour soon becomes Keyboard warriors here demanding campsites closed none one allowed in forest every car park was full yesterday. Think of the illness they bring to us, we are pure here in first. Failing to mention how many have jobs and commute to London daily... Oh don't worry about "with respect" - I love my dog, he's well behaved (generally) and affectionate, great with my new born.... But he's a nutter.... constant physical and mental stimulation required and he never runs out of energy.... But I love him....
  2. There are two 9/11 museums... the one where the towers were and one half a mile away. It's smaller but incredibly impactive. For example .. they have the wallet and gun holder (as far as I recall) of a copper who retired on the day of the attack. They found those two items two years later and that's all they found of him... It's a real reminder of what an event it really was. Also, Ellen's Sardust diner was a laugh... the waiting staff are all aspiring Broadway stars and they sing the hits while you're eating. It's a 70's diner that hasn't changed to this day. I'm not a musical fan but it was good grub and a good laugh. You will queue to get in though. Find Bryant's Park, a nice green space, a few streets from the Empire State Building. It has a few bars, stalls and games tables in it. And two streets away is Keane's, a steak house where all the presidents have eaten. It's not cheap, but the fillet steak I ordered was about the size of a shoe and so well cooked!
  3. This weekend, to obtain a work qualification I'll be continuing to write my thesis on why males who access indecent images of children give themselves permission to offend. And I'll be watching the rugby Hows that for participation?
  4. I used a KangaWrap at the hospital and we have an ergo baby carrier, which is great!
  5. Lol!! You seen the film Bad Boys? Can't remember if it was film 1 or 2 but the scene where the boy comes to pick up the daughter, and gets a grilling on the door .. that's what I envisage!!
  6. My wife tells me I am a heartless robot and I've no issue with no means no. She works with children, I work with offenders and we have a 19 month old spaniel who we have to say no too often Wife is wiite on the ball with things around parenting, she did child psychology, is head of safeguarding etc. She is a great, safe pair of hands. I'm lucky
  7. Thank you. Yea we don't intend to use a dummy, and I understand that long use of dummies can impact speech development. Pram is already bought, it was pricey but the idea is it will last for a second child, which we hope to have as part of life plans. We do have an good isofixit car seat, not swivel but we are happy with it. It's a nice easy click button system. Funnily enough we will be going swimming asap to get her use to water quickly. Nice bit of bonding too. Height chart - ours will be a ruler, wife teaches children
  8. Could you imagine? Also, doesn't it need a netted part so the child can see the views? Nah. The little one will be asleep. Gently lulled by the motion of the bike. Now I look at the picture again it does resemble a crib
  9. Thank you. Ah, a long wait I see Well to be honest I haven't been on my bike since she got pregnant essentially . I don't blame my wife - she loved being on the bike but appeared to have a mindset change when she got pregnant and how she is here, I'm "too precious to lose". This thought is influenced by news and multiple medical programs that show bikers being mangled in crashes. However, I am optimistic that this will change and I'll get to have some leisure ride outs. You can pillion a toddler, right? NO..... that’s what panniers and top boxes are for. Could you imagine? Also, doesn't it need a netted part so the child can see the views?
  10. Ha! I need them to have a decent living to fund my retirement so I'll need to be picky!!
  11. Yep, team work makes the dream work and all that. All about this
  12. That's good to know, thank you. We're really determined to be a team, which is working well so far. We also read up on attachment. Having been in hospital for a few days we utilised the advice only midwives as much as possible. I'm a big fan of the baby carrier. It's been really helpful. The hospital loaned us a kangawrap while we were there. I would take kiddo in the wrap and go for a wonder or a cup of tea while my wife would sleep. It was great to have my hands free while walking around. I'll even sat and completed an essay while she was in the wrap asleep. Yes, kiddo is subject to the rugby at the moment. However, overall the day seems to fly by quickly at the moment so haven't had much time watch it. We've had family visitors which has also taken time, but we've basically used a booking system with visitors now, to keep it in check
  13. I know the feeling. My work is full on let alone the studying on top of it. Thanks for the bottle advice. I'll keep it in mind.
  14. Lol, good advice. I'll keep it in mind.
  15. That penknife story was proper hilarious, as was the hosepipe. My wife is a deputy head teacher (primary school) and I've met her teacher friends many times and so I dont think I can forget names if I tried. Although I'm sure she'd pick up pretty quickly if I remembered a name too well. I love the little stories to tell children to try and keep them quiet or to get them to behave. The only one I have stored so far is, when kiddo is of an age to understand, to tell her that we need to leave beer and pizza (or wings) out for santa. Not milk and cookies.
  16. Thank you. So no joy at all then? Lol Lol, my wife is very strong willed so I'm stuck there. It's all a journey, right? Ups and downs, tantrums, good days, bad days - and not only for me We are currently dealing with this while "night and day" thing - basically kiddo thinks night time is the time to be fully awake and active, and that day time is for rest. We all like an adventure don't we? Even if it's a tired one. I already forget out tired nights and poo filled nappies when I look at her, so all will be forgiven I'm sure.
  17. Thank you. We definitely bulk buy and I'm too cheap to buy all the stuff advertised, and I recognise some of it is pointless. I didn't have all the gimmicks as a kid and I'm still here Yep, I've had multiple pleasures and smelly nappies so far, and I was lucky enough to clean up the notorious second poo. It was like cleaning up oil. Your story genuinely made me laugh out loud, as it did my wife. I've been on search warrants to some pretty nasty places and ai learned about cleans hands and touching things in order so fingers crossed. However one sleep deprived night is all it takes, right?
  18. It does get better...but at 12 years things are just about to get interesting! I can imagine...
