  1. It won't be long though. It's less than five years to the A1 bikes must be zero emission.
  2. It's interesting that a few years ago Chinese bikes were everywhere down here. Probably at least 50% of all bikes. Now you hardly see them. It's probably down to a maximum 10% now. The stricter emission rules has increased the price considerably over what these bikes were selling for a few years ago. I think that and the fact so many were unreliable. Has turned away the buyers. At least down here. From what I hear some local dealers leave a lot to be desired. That's not helping either. I see loads of small capacity Honda and Yamaha bikes and scooters here. Even though there is no local dealers.
  3. Remember the CB500 cup? It really showed what those bikes could do on a track.
  4. Welcome to the forum. Stay away from overbanding and drain covers in the wet. Don't let cars intimidate you. And hold your position in the road.
  5. It's better to have it and not need it. Especially hard parts to find.
  6. You always need a back up. For your back up.
  7. I quite like it. But the headlights need to be higher up for the authentic look.
  8. We used to ride with an old couple who had a Harley trike for that very reason. The could go out together, and it would sit happily on the motorway. In Europe the three wheeled scooters that you can drive on a car licence are very popular.
  9. You are going to change the jetting in the carb right? I think 20% on the main is usually a good starting point.
  10. I did wonder if she had a helmet on with the damage to her head. But it was a carbon fibre full face. She must have been really going to land 260ft down the road.
  11. I noticed Mutt motorcycles has gone into administration. I know they were selling bikes mainly the the youngsters and hipster market. But they built some cool looking bikes. That always got good reviews. I think they were based in Birmingham.
  12. I would also check the main fuse. It's usually located somewhere near the battery.
  13. Harley Davidson built the street 750, 500 in Bawal, India. Though it was never a good seller here. The thing that would put me off buying a Chinese bike is the parts availability after a few years. It's still pretty unproven at the moment. I know the CF moto side by side have not got a very good reputation for reliability. Though they have been building those for years.
  14. Langen used single type approval which is different to the euro emissions regulations. That's what Norton were doing with the first commando too. I guess the kits they were making for the Yamaha XSR was the nearest we will get to the old LC.
  15. Does this picture help? https://parts-a.kawasaki.eu/kepcc/kepcc?ALIAS=99255&PRODUCTGROUP=MCXR&DISPLACEMENT=126_500&MODELNAME=J300&MODELYEAR=2016_SC300AGFA&COUNTRY=XX&COLOR=949&MACHINE=5026&VIN_SEL=&VIN_INP=&ENGINE_SEL=&ENGINE_INP=&PNO=99912-0025.E-03&NAVIGATION= It shows where the fasteners are.
  16. Very true Chris. My son had a terrible experience with a Chinese bike and bad dealer. When he was considering another bike I told him to go to Haslemere motorcycles. I have been buying bikes off of them for 30 years. Always excellent service. And local to him. They sorted out a bike for him. And when a couple of months later, he went in for a new tyre. Gave it to him for free.
  17. Yes I agree that since the 80's. Bikes have become less and less an everyday transport. But when you look at the prices of new cars now. Biking is still a cheaper option for most. A lot of the kids today just don't want to drive anything. Perhaps it's also linked slightly to the younger generation not being able to afford their own homes. As long as they are still living with parents. They can get a lift if needed. So don't feel like their own transport is a necessity. I fear it's only going to get worse when in less than five years there will be no more ICE mopeds and 125cc bikes. The complexity and price of a new A1 class bike is going to go up considerably.
  18. Welcome to the forum. I would suggest doing your CBT before getting your first bike. That is unless you have ridden before. It's good to have some experience to decide whether biking is for you. The instructors are helpful if you have any questions. Also it's not just the bike. I would suggest at a minimum you want a helmet. Gloves and a pair of boots. The cost of insurance should also be something to consider. I'm sure you will love it once you have tried it.
  19. After all the pre registered bikes in December because of the new Euro 5+. It was always going to be down. But with new bikes getting ever more expensive. The KTM crisis. And many dealers closing it's not giving people confidence to buy a new bike perhaps?
  20. The good stuff is expensive there! The price of petrol varies a lot here. Especially if you fill up just as your heading out of the city. Two shell petrol stations a mile apart are 4p a litre different.
  21. I use rain x too. Just make sure it's the plastic version. Normal rain x will melt your visor.
  22. When it is obviously manufactured by another company. Why wouldn't you buy it from the original manufacturer? Though Harley do well a lot of overpriced t-shirt and jackets. I was watching a documentary once. And they reckon that Harley Davidson has the second best advertising campaign. It is only second to coke. And I could quite easily believe that. How many people wear their gear that no nothing about motorcycles?
  23. I believe it is fuel injected with a quick Google. The give away would be the bike fuel pump priming when you turn the key on. It is doing that right? Making a whirring noise?
  24. If it's just the splines you are worried about. I would use some grease. But anything that is a bit sticky and oil like should work.
