  1. It really just is practice and patience. Don't feel you have to rush anything. It will put pressure on yourself. With a small bike, or especially a scooter. The rear brake will over power the engine. So even with the throttle full on. It would still stop. A couple of one to one sessions should see you good to go.
  2. When someone did the steering lock on a bike I had as a project. They had picked the handlebar so far round. The metal pin had jammed the steering. I just removed the lock barrel. Smoothed the damage out, and fixed the wiring. Then fitted the barrel again. If the key turns smoothly to the lock position. Which the bars turned. It might be fine.
  3. Welcome abroad Josh. The CBF is a great bike to start on. My mate did 24,000 miles on his before passing his test. It only ever needed service items.
  4. Yes it does seem to be out of stock. I'm guessing you do not have ABS? You should be able to find something from a Yamaha or Honda 125 scooter that would fit. Perhaps have a look on eBay where you can compare pictures to your brakes.
  5. Yes a proper numpty
  6. Perhaps write bike and the reg at the bottom of the ticket too. Might make it less likely to be stolen.
  7. Most of my bikes have been sports bikes, or the odd off road bike. I then went to naked bikes to help keep the speed down. but living in a city now. A scooter makes perfect sense. You can put your helmet in it. Then when You come back. Your shopping goes in.
  8. I would check the main fuse also. It's usually that when the clocks stop working.
  9. Yeah you should be able to get your bike back. Just have to wade through the red tape. That is unless it was a Norton, and while in for a service they stripped your pride and joy for parts!
  10. It's pouring here down south. I got soaked walking the dog. And still have one more to do. She is old and doesn't like getting up early.
  11. Yes there is. I have seen some of the cheap jet kits be up to 10 sizes out while fixing other people's bikes. No wonder it wouldn't run right.

    Welcome to the forum.
  13. Don't feel too bad. I'm sure next time you will get your pass. My mate is an instructor. He says there is so much extra to get through on a CBT now. You are going to see a lot more fails.
  14. Nice bike. My cousin had one and went all round Europe two up on it.
  15. It sounds like you made good progress. A lot of schools would have just put you on a scooter so you didn't have to worry about gears. You would have most likely got a pass. But still wouldn't have known how to ride a bike.
  16. I have used Express Insurance Service a couple of times. But I've never had to claim. So that's the only time you really find out how good they are.
  17. It's interesting that Kawasaki have given it an extra 100cc. Yet it's down on power compared with the old model. Emissions to blame?
  18. Crazy situation. Do they want you hanging on the door. Posting £20 notes through the letterbox?

    Mr

When I had first seen the video some time ago. I wasn't sure if I would filter. It's hard to judge with the camera, how much room there really is. But I would have certainty filtered up to the lorry.
  20. It's always a shame when a dealer closes. I was reading an article a few weeks ago. And they were saying that most people would be surprised how little money is made from the sale of a new bike. They make much more from servicing and clothing.
  21. I'm not really a fan of wings on bikes. Apart from that it's not a bad. The double sided swing arm looks okay. But the price on most new sporty models is just crazy now.
  22. My mate had quite a new Mercedes about ten years ago. He was coming back from the hospital with his mum. Stopped at a petrol station and filled the car up. Then had an accident about a mile up the road, as a car turned into him from the other lane. It ripped the front wheel off. Doing a lot of other damage too. It was picked up and taken to the police impound yard. When it was finally fixed about three months later. He got a call from the Mercedes dealer telling him there was a problem. It wouldn't start as there was not a drop of fuel in it! He was arguing with the dealer, and insurance for quite a while to pay for the petrol. Which they did eventually. I guess the impound yard thought it would never be fixed because of the damage.
  23. I've got the year gremlin kit. It came highly recommend on sports bike shop. And like a lot of the reviews said. Add a small pair of pliers to remove nails, and screws. I've yet to use it. But always carry it if heading out of the city.
  24. I commute everyday. Luckily we don't see any snow often this far south.
  25. Nice. Everyone needs a project. I can't ever recall seeing one of those. Are they very rare? What's the parts availability like?
