  1. Thanks @Hairsy @billysugger he spent 10 hours yesterday in a&e. Had a scan on his foot and shoulder. Nothing broken. Just soft tissue damage. He is in a lot of pain though. What really sucks is he was supposed to go on holiday with his mates yesterday. He was so looking forward to it. Back to the boots topic. One of his leather boots had a really deep slice into it. Not quite sure what caused it. But you can imagine the damage to his foot if he was wearing trainers. He was less than half a mile from home when it happened. And only visiting the local shop. So it goes to show. Always wear gear.
  2. My son was hit by a woman pulling out of a junction yesterday. I'm so glad I have brought him up to wear all the gear. Even with new alpinestars boots his foot took some damage. He can't walk on it today. Or move his arm. He is at the hospital now to have it checked out.
  3. Welcome abroad Jess
  4. The CVT drive face has a fan on it. It can make a noise when coming off the throttle. But if it's definitely coming from the rear wheel, check the wheel for play in the bearings.
  5. I ordered a Piaggio scooter for use as my work commuter in 2019. That was delayed by six months. But I guess we all know what happened around that time. You think as a new customer who has paid for your bike. The company would be doing everything possible to make your buying experience a good one.
  6. I think Fort Nine did a thing on motorcycle safety gear standards once. He was saying that compared to the safety ratings on horse riding equipment. Motorcycle gear has an unbelievably low standard to pass.
  7. That does sound quite expensive. Could it be the age of the bandit compared to new bikes making the difference?
  8. That went for an MOT on a wing and a prayer.
  9. It came from London. So I'm guessing a food delivery driver. The front forks are pushed into the frame. So if the frame is damaged. It's not
  10. My mates just been given a Honda AN 125 scooter. He was going to repair it as it's had a front end collision. But it's not looking good. I just had a look at the old MOT history. And the last test it had covered 64,700 miles! Good going I think. Registration LR16KBF.
  11. There was an article by the AA a few years ago showing the average mileage a bike rides in its lifetime. The average 125 gets to 20,000 miles. A 50cc was half that. It's not surprising with most being run on a tight budget. It's always surprising to me how few miles some bikes do. The hornet was only doing about 300 miles a year for the three years before I brought it. Then when I sold it it did a couple of hundred miles the first year. Then 160 the next. Bikers seem to fall into mainly two categories. Those that ride a lot. And those that just do a few summer rides. The amount of people on Twitter who said I can now ride my bike again as it's taxed in April for six months is always surprising to me.
  12. Pesky kids @Mawsley. Well this afternoon's ride didn't happen. It was a bit torrential rain wise. I don't mind getting wet. But not if I don't have to.
  13. A couple of GoreTex jackets I've owned have been good initially. But as they get used every day they do start to leak eventually. Even using a GoreTex restore conditioner, never got them back the same as they were new.
  14. Another thing to consider. If you say you use a lock and chain. Even if you pop to the shops. You need to take the chain with you. A heavy chain can be a problem when you need to carry it.
  15. He was in the right. But you could see by the way the women was driving. She was impatient, and wanted to get in front. I would have let her past when she was coming up the side of me.
  16. If you really wanted it though. You could always use a wrap to get the same design.
  17. one of your five a day.
  18. It might be worth checking the reed valves too. Perhaps one of the reeds is cracked, or not sealing properly.
  19. If you say it has an oil leak. Perhaps the oil level has been run low. Causing internal friction. It might also explain why the oil looks yellow and new. It's been topped up. Walk away. Honda PCX are everywhere.
  20. I've tried loads of different brands. But nothing seems to keep the heaviest prolonged rain out. So if it's really bad I just put a two piece rain suit over the top. I use the Oxford rainseal gear at the moment.
  21. On yes I'm old enough to remember 6V headlights. Absolutely rubbish at night.
  22. That's definitely true. When they closed the road I use for work a few months ago. I had to take a different route. I think I found every pot hole. On my usual route I know where they are. So avoid them.
  23. Could be ideal to get some experience with then.
  24. I'm a bit disappointed he hasn't got four sheds full of bikes.
  25. What sort of roads would you be riding the moped on? Some can be quite intimidating on such a slow vehicle.
