When I had  this I refused to reinsure until claim was settled.
Funnily enough they looked at my cam evidence and claim was settled within 48 hours.

If I didn't need the bike for anything other than pleasure I suppose I could wait, however; jumping on the bandwagon, my bike is a mental health channel to sanity. My solicitor has confirmed the driver has admitted liability, police have charged the driver, he pleaded guilty and now the 3rd party is due to be sentenced in August, but, it has been adjourned at least 4 times.

The point is, I feel I am being penalised by the underwriters because of the actions of a drugged up driver and the justice regime. The underwriters know they will be able to retrieve their costs and claim from the 3rd party, but I am now the risk, not the bod being sentenced. I don't think I will get a £200 deduction once this is settled FFS.

  2. Bloody Insurance 🤬 received renewal today. up by £200  - so, even though the 3rd party admitted they were at fault, I have to pay this ridiculous hike in cost, why! because claim is not yet settled, or so they say and waiting on court dates etc. I used a comparison site, and its still the same. Could reduce if I remove business use. I have never paid anywhere near £400 in my life. Times are changing. on the upside I should receive my excess back once settled. :bang:

Not sure about doing a proper write up, but I'll post some pics here over the next few days.

It's the Law, we need a write up of sorts. I need ideas for September. :thumb:

    Hi

As I will be going into France later this year could you let me know about the application process for this and is it necessary if we are not planning on visiting any of the larger towns?

    Cheers

    Ian

    Hello.

Do I need it, probably, as it is a one off payment and in the future I may decide to venture in to a larger Town or a detour may even take me that way. All for the price of a Wetherspoons Pint.

    1. Take picture of the first inner page of the V5. 2. Have payment card Ready. 3. Log on to official site Home page | Official website for the Crit'Air sticker (certificat-air.gouv.fr) 4. Invoke EN. 5. Invoke Vehicle registered Abroad. 6. Invoke Order. 7 Fill in all drop downs, note there is an assistant to help to explain. Once completed upload the picture of the V5 with all the info on that you have just completed. My bike is Euro 5 however, I had to chose euro 4, it wouldn't accept Euro 5 :bang:but I still received the Crit Air 1 Sticker. Fill in your payment detail and postal address. Received mine 5 days later, you do receive email confirmation of payment in case you need it.  Hope this helps  :thumb:

  5. Colmar is nice though, we stopped at the Ibis Budget, a short walk to the centre, a long while ago though, then they were called Etap Hotel, budget with underground secure parking. I may just visit this year.

  6. I am the Knob of the day  The French must be laughing their heads of at the silly Englishman.

Ordered the Crit Air Sticker off the French Gov Website, 5 days later I received the sticker, wow, that was quick, cant complain at the service.

Stupid here, opens the envelope to look at the sticker, then places sticker back in the opened envelope, couple of hours later, put opened envelope, along with other envelopes and cardboard in the recycle bin, this morning, bin emptied into waste recycling wagon. :bang:

This evening, another sticker ordered 😂

Bumot luggage is great. compared to some more 'common' brands. I really like the top box I got. great size for my purposes. 30L. I dont need it to store my helmet.

Bumot, they're well made and I like the way the panniers open, and the inner bags are well made too. :thumb:

I test rode the R1200RS. Superb bike. However, given various physical constraints (knackered knees, hips, neck and shoulder) I had my doubts. Then the salesman suggested I try a GS. Bar steward, as my dad would have said.

I think the GS is one of the best all round bikes. I've owned a few BM's, but this time, I have purposely avoided the local dealer, otherwise, I would end up with another. Now I've gone orange, light & nimble and I can fit the Bumot Luggage to it, its an addictive little bugger :thumb:

  9. out of all the bike on your list, I would say the V Strom is the most over looked and under rated, a great bike, very capable and a bomb proof engine. Looks are subjective, I ride a KTM 😂.  I would otherwise chose the BMW R1200RS 😀

  10. Well the rates for me, are shite. Company car user receives 13p per mile, essential car user 45p per mile first 10K only, cant make nowt on those prices, I have an option to ride my bike for work, but in reality who uses their bike for business and covers 20K a year, I have looked into using my bike, but after paying for insurance, fuel, tax, servicing, tyres, Kit etc, it just isn't worth it.

  11. @Ellyt247 I have both Go Pro and Drift camera's however, I use a Drift Ghost-X when I was commuting. You can change all settings via phone app. Loop record or record all on SD card, take still pictures etc. Battery life approx 5hrs at 1080/30fps. Play back on phone etc. Not cheap, but not in the same league as the Go Pro. I think the Drift X retail £130.

Its the way it is. nowadays all people want is a way to charge their phones. so most modern bikes just have a USB-A socket or two, at least I have the choice between A and C. but... the socket itself is still a wasted opportunity.

Even the Austrian has a 10A Auxiliary socket. As well as the sat nav connection behind the headlight, it has another one under the rear seat and a waterproof money pouch or it could be phone holder
