That was quick, thanks all. Find My app look pretty good, but I've also been recommended Life 360. Anyone tried this?

My Wife and our kids have I phones, so they use the find my I phone app however, I use an android phone, so we also use Life 360. Its good but sometimes there are glitches when they decide to turn off notifications. My wife knew there was something wrong when I had my last accident however, when I was out last week in Wales and with no signal she started to panic a little.

  2. Thank you @Gerontious. I have Esch-sur-Sûre on my list for coffee & Pastries. I will probably spend more time in Luxembourg on this trip, with the exception, I might have a ride over to Cochem, and then meander back along the river. The map has some good routes which I can add to the sat nav :thumb:

The Hotel has some good routes they can provide too.

Filled it up prior to a run out and at the local Shell garage the petrol has gone from  144.9 to 152.9 in a week. 🤬

I avoid the shell garage near me at all cost. Robbed me of 50p once when the tyre inflator took my money but never worked. 😂

  4. I need to start planning a couple of routes/ride outs, must include brew and pastry stops . I'm only there midweek, so hopefully find some quiet roads. New Granddaughter means the wife is staying home. Time to try some new routes, I've stayed in Klotten and Kyllberg a couple of times, never ventured much into Luxembourg though.

  5. I have a 300 miler to Folkestone, I don't want to be setting of at the crack of dawn so I've booked a nice little Hotel in the centre of Bethune with secure parking, from the train its a leisurely 55 miles - 2hr non motorway ride to Bethune. :thumb:

  6. So I have eventually got my sorry arse in gear. Booked 3 nights in Dasburg. Just need to find accommodation a couple of hours from Calais for the first day/night, oh and I need to book the tunnel.

Unless you test / get tested how would you know? I may have had it but I had no means of testing so I've no idea. 2 others (out of 21) had it so no hyper infectious.  One as bad as me and one less so. Flu ? Covid? Who knows?

You are correct, and you don't have to take a test. I've just carried on as normal and I haven't caught it off the wife either.

  8. Wife has just recovered from a second bout of covid, she's been off work for 2 weeks, I think the guidance is try to stay at home, try to avoid contact with other people, morally, I suppose its how hard you want to try.

  9. When you find it let us know. I bought the 890 because it worked for me. But the closest I could think of, is the Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel, but the weight and panniers don't cut it. 😀

    Thanks for the reply @Steve_M

Since posting the original question I have looked at P&O prices from Hull 🥴

Over £500 for me and the bike is a joke so it would be the chunnel, which I guess puts the Eifel within easier reach.

I know quite a few on here have ridden this area, ideally I would base myself somewhere for maybe 3 nights and do circular trips during the day, so any GPX files/ map routes suitable would be very much appreciated 👍

I am trying to muster up a plan too. I have the same issue, its 110 miles to Hull, 275 to Folkestone. I'm looking at 18th Sept. I was thinking of going to the Vosges however the Eifel is looking more achievable, Just looked at a place I stayed a few years ago, Hotel Muller Pension in Kyllburg, but website saying its closed. I might send an email to see. I have looked at places in Scotland as a back up, but the prices are double of those in France and Germany. @GerontiousI take it this hotel you frequent is a good place to stay.

Gap isn’t on the RAC list but, if memory serves correctly, there were signs indicating the requirement as we approached last year. We avoid cities but, for the sake of €4.61, I’d rather spend the money. Same apples for motorway vignettes for Switzerland and Austria. One wrong turning and an eagle eyed cop*…

    * I have experience of eagle eyed police officers, spotting a failed tail light on my car back in the days when the police were not underfunded and understaffed (1977, if you’re wondering).

I think, we might get caught out when temporary zones restrictions are introduced at the discretion of the local authorities. I also come to realise, there are different criteria, permanent zones - Cities, large towns etc, but they have a list of other Cities that can introduce temporary zones. Like you say, for the sake of €4.61. I'd rather have it, than have not.
