I prefer Hotels as I'm not overly keen on camping however, I thought I would give camping another go. So this year is a mix of both. I last camped in France 2022 and the last two trips 23/24 I stayed in Hotels, this year will be a mix of both, any saving made might make it possible for another trip in September. So If the weather is nice I will camp, if not, Booking Dot Com and move on. I think I'm trying to re live some of my youth. Although I must admit I wouldn't camp in the UK

I don’t think Europe is any different to the UK when it comes to bike thefts. So I have opted for the Litelok X1 supported by what I already have, an alarmed disc lock, tracker and mul-T-lock and cable. When I tour I usually try and ensure I have secure parking however there may be a slight chance I have to leave the bike for a few hours to go and climb a mountain . This year’s tours are slightly different. I have 1 hotel accommodation with secure underground parking garage, another small guesthouse type with secure parking yard with a high wall and gates to match, which is locked at night and away from the main road. The other nights I will be camping, well if the weathers good enough that is.

True, and I suppose it’s their tools of the trade so to speak. It will probably have already been nicked from a tradesman’s van. I suppose the theory I would hope the battery depletes before they cut through the baronium or whatever it’s called, then again they would probably carry a spare battery too

This Custom Africa Twin Has Eyes That Stare Straight Into Your Soul

Its a Honda choosing to identify as a Ducati -
I wouldn’t have thought mine is on the desirable list and especially with it being a KTM. But the more I think about it, it will probably be nicked for parts and joy riding across fields. I’m thinking if it takes more than one grinding disc to cut through, I wouldn’t have thought the scum would have additional discs and the tools to change the them, well I hope not.

Anyone use the Litelok and how much is too much to pay for security. I have locks and chains and ground anchors etc for home use and a disc lock as a portable deterrent along with a tracker when out and about however I’m looking at the Litelok touring bundle, but it’s a staggering £350. or a little cheaper for the X1 bundle. I’m thinking security when touring. Currently I use a disc lock and a MulTi lock with a 12mm thick cable to attach to a post etc. what do you use when away on the bike, apart from trying to find secure parking

Do you bother with a Pinlock?
Pie man replied to Simon Davey's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I have Pinlocks in the Schuberth and Shark, and they work great, not so good in the Scorpion lid, but I thinks that's down to me, I need to refit it, or try it without now the weather is becoming milder. Off for a trundle in Wales on Sunday. -
Repayment on the €540,000,000 is currently €6,682,926.83 a day. Anyone got any spare change.

I wonder if the one post wonder found their accommodation and share their experience booking a large group of motorcyclist's

Not a fan of top boxes (yes I do use one every now and again) The Rhinowalk gear is quite good, I run 3 of their bags, keep my belongings dry, but for a backpack, in my opinion you cant beat Kriega. The way the quad lock harness transfers the weight to the chest, makes it all day comfy especially around and under your arms. Expensive, yes, worth it, 100%

Anyone got a spare €548,000,000. Asking for a friend

I take it, it has reopened, might have a venture over next week, love it there

There is guidance on PRS exemptions and exemption requirements, sadly your lets wouldn't qualify, however (me) being a brainless moron take what I say with a pinch of salt You should speak to your assessor for advice. e.g. How old are your EPC's. The old calcs were based on gas heating, being the cheapest way to heat a property. The new ones are focussed on carbon emissions, taking actual measures instead of assumptions, the fabric first approach doesn't appear to the the first approach anymore and going straight for LEL and Solar Heating and photovoltaics instead, which will give you around 20 points. And you know this comes at a cost without funding.

Please recommend me an inexpensive helmet cam
Pie man replied to JohnJive650's topic in Motorbike Chat
There is the Drift Ghost X 1080p with loop recording, picture quality not as good as the go pro or more expensive cameras, connects to the phone using the Drift app. I used to use one on my commute -
Well, This afternoon I thought I would try my luggage set up. A 30ltr and two 10ltr bags. In the 30ltr bag I have my camping set up and the two 10ltr bags have my clothes. I think I might cut down the tarp poles or see if I can purchase some lighter and smaller sectional ones. I will also have a 30ltr rucksack with hydration bladder and carry my paperwork, not keen on tank bags, although I have several I don't particularly like them, so I purchased a bar bag.

Good shout, I forgot about the fluorescent bib

I've never offered or agreed to a test ride. Not worth the hassle. Never had an issue selling a bike either.

If the Mrs was joining me we would be going from Hull too, and there's no way she would be camping and staying in sub £60 hotels
-
There's also some dealer workshops I wouldn't trust either. Once took my bike for a service and the workshop tech adjusted the chain so it was so tight there was no slack at all.

I've also compared costs and the Hull-Rotterdam is more than double. I was Quoted £445 for the Ferry compared to £95 for the Tunnel. you can add £65 for accommodation, I think its the long boring slog to the Chunnel and back that kills any trip. The good thing about the ferry, two and a half hours and I would be home, instead of the 5 hrs now.

Wish I could afford the Hull - Rotterdam Ferry

It would appear MotoGB have purchased the former motorcycle premises of Piddocks in Long Eaton, Nottingham. I was informed they cant get hold of enough bikes, business is growing for them when others seem to be struggling. Looking at their other showrooms, I would expect to see a display of many manufacturers and some of the finest Chinese brands.

I was once a member of the Beemer Club, many moons ago, before Tim Berners Lee invented WWW and Garmin hadn't yet introduced their primitive Street Pilot 1. I used to look forward to the monthly magazine, I liked the travel section, stories of riders travelling Europe and beyond. I've always had bikes and love bikes, but I've never been a biker and I don't really like bike meets, and as such I have never joined any other club or magazine since. But my love for touring Europe by motorcycle developed and took off through BMW.
