1. But a mobile phone uses the power from the battery all the time. A car/bike only uses battery to start. An alarm or light left on will drain any battery so I still don’t see what lithium has over lead acid apart from some weight saving. Is that really sufficient to be worth the extra cost/complications of lithium?
2. I’m on the side of having a Scottoiler. I have the electronic version and it is much easier to control the lubricant then the vacuum version. I hate chain maintenance and the Scottoiler means you don’t have to mess around every 200 miles. Obviously on a tour or winter riding this is a huge advantage. I would not have a chain driven bike without one now.
3. Hello and welcome
4. The battery is only used to start the bike. The power to run it comes from the alternator. Why would you want a lithium battery anyway? what does it provide over a normal battery especially when you consider the cost and potential danger of Lithium.
5. This is a stupid idea. Just do the full A licence and be done with it.
6. So how does this cook the meat if there is no heat?
7. Leicestershire are one of those forces, they wouldn't let me do it on Ls because they will teach techniques which are not the DSA standard and therefore may make it more difficult for someone to pass their test. I think Cheshire police might be the same but as it didn’t apply to me I didn’t enquire any further.
8. Hope you have a standby meal in case of disaster
9. The bike should come with a handbook that covers all the basic maintenance items. Personally I’d leave safety critical items to the dealer. Enjoy the journey of learning to ride.

15. Wow that was a quick year
16. Maybe people use them because they can’t get insurance elsewhere until their circumstances change. They make as much as possible as quickly as possible knowing that. The whole insurance market needs a good kicking
17. Yep soon be warm riding weather
18. Hello and welcome. Can’t help with your predicament but I’d be looking to move to somewhere that has more security if possible. If not I’d probably get a car and come back to biking later when it was possible to have a solid garage.
19. Well done on the pass Pbassred change insurer at renewal is the best route
20. I did the bike safe course in July with Cheshire police. Well worth the time and really prompted me to do more advanced training.
21. A very good reason to check the bike before you get on it. Some people are just total morons.
22. That link provides all you need. Also CAB is quite useful.
23. Very useful link.
24. I’ve not had any reliability problems in fact it has been totally reliable for the 18 months I’ve owned it, bought 2nd hand in July 2017. I’m also 5’8” and with the seat in the lowest position I can flat foot both sides. However it is a little top heavy and have initially dropped it several times when stationary, until I got used to it, causing some slight scuffing on the crash bars. Not dropped it for well over 12 months though so I guess I’m used to it now. The height and riding position makes the Tiger brilliant for town work, filtering is easy and it’s got plenty of oomph for when you need it without being silly powerful. Awesome thanks for the info mate. Have you rid it through the winter months by any chance? How does it handle rain/leaves/muddy roads/icy roads etc? Yes I ride all year round. I had new Bridgestone tyres fitted when I collected it from the dealer and they have handled ice, snow, mud and some light green laneing without difficulty. But in those conditions you need to take extra care and not push your luck. The worst was last winter where the water running off the fields turned the roads into an ice rink. Had to take it very carefully.
